My only quibble with this is, is this someone who can understand that the bros chattering as you go along is part of the story, or is he one of THOSE people. I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he's a professional, I've just known far too many stupid people.
"That doesn't mean the game lacks story, though. Plot, yeah — that's relatively sparse. But story is not just big events unfolding and mysterious bad guys in impossible armor chuckling about their mad schemes. Story is characterization and interaction and, in an interactive game, how you choose to experience those things. And FFXV has plenty of that."

Gotcha. I guess I should have read the whole thing :p Thanks!

Edit: people are already taking it all out of context as we speak, though.

I'm a suckered for cutscenes in FF. Can't get enough of them as long as they are nicely spread and paced out in games.

I love seeing cutscenes in where the villains are shown behind the scenes for instance.

I hope the game has the typical amount of cutscene expected in FF games.

'Traditional' FF cutscenes are one of the major factors that draw me to the series and jrpgs in general. One of the reasons why jrpgs are my bread and butter: the nice dose of melodramatic cutscenes xD

from my understanding, there are two types of cutscenes + playable events with banter, ex: the group pushing the car.

the Dawn trailer cutscene is pre-rendered while scenes like Cidney's introduction or Ardyn meeting with Noctis in Galdin Quay are "regular", you can see the difference by the graphics.

i think we saw a good amount of "regular" scenes to be honest, and then CGs but given the fact they made an entire movie like that i'm only expecting the opening and ending to be CG.

I kinda find what that review said about cutscenes misleading going off what my friends(he has viewed pretty much every footage of the game so far). He said that there were quite a few cutscenes in the area called Lestallum and before you reach Lestallum.

Although maybe Lestallum is after Chapter 3?

Friend also said there is a cutscene wear you fight a Nifleheim boss that sends a machine to fight you?
Don't know of this is after Chapter 3 either.

Also, please no spoilers guys if you want to confirm any of this. I ask my friend very specific questions and he understand how much of a baby I am when it comes to spoilers xD

Maybe the previewers idea if what a cutscene is is different to mine lol

the writer of this preview only played till chapter 3, in the part where noctis and iris are walking in the city of lestallum.

For me, anytime you are watching and not interacting with via controller inputs that makes the content a cutscene. Sometimes it can be interactive but in a minimal fashion like pressing a button to advance text dialogue, using the controller to pan the camera as the scenes plays or a simple QTE(interactive cutscene).

Btw guys, are the chapters clearly defined like in xiii? Do they number and name the chapters as they begin?

I dislike when jrpgs do this. It's not a big deal but is a irritating pet-peeve of mine xD

Cool. Eh, I can deal. At lest it's not like XIII where they have specialised text for each chapter overlapping in game.

I'll just view it as a loading screen for the next big area kind thing rather than a chapter marker :3
I probably won't read the synopsis either just like I didn't read here with the images you posted xD
