Anyone know if the main story has a 'recommended level'?

I know the hunts do, and in ED when you got your car fixed it showed it for the next area.

If so, I'll try to stay a level or two under that and use the no exp item when cleaning up sidequests.

I forgot that this was a thing, does anyone know what the blog is talking about: http://mypage.member.jp.square-enix.com/18/blog/detail/336706/ ?
It's a blog talking about character director Marie Iwanaga. Her job is described as "character rendition": she's responsible for smaller-scale physical alterations that help portray the characters. For instance, Noctis' keyword was charm, and in collaboration with Tabata and the scenario team, she works towards conveying this through their gestures and casual motions and expressions. She's the person behind the poses of the main cast during idle, in-motion and post-battle animations, in addition to similar duties for NPC characters like Cindy.

dont click if you don't want to be spoiled about new game + features

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/691087-playstation-4/74500554?page=0

totally possible since tabata did exactly this with type-0.
That was the exact amount of spoilers I wanted for new game + features!
Fingers crossed for Vagrant Story style.

Lightning Returns has this, too, BTW. Once you beat the game, it unlocks Hard mode, and on hard mode, there are a ton of new weapons and garments you can get that you couldn't get before.

This is a happy day.

I don't think so.
They're adapting Nojima's story into a single game. Perhaps this is the epilogue that didn't fit within the main game.
Im not gonna jump to any conclusions, just in theory, making people to play and end game twice to cover the whole story its bad game design.
On other hand if these chapters is not story related than its good. Additional content is always good.

Can't have it both ways. It's good to have extra content and something new to experience on multiple playthroughs. And for that something to be compelling, there should be some story elements to it. Obviously, you don't want to force people into playing it twice to get the whole story, but assuming that that's how they will do it is silly. It probably took almost no time for you to realize that would be problematic. I have to assume the people whose lives depend on making this game a success were also able to realize that and they'll make sure that the bonus feels like a bonus, not like something crucial and missing.

They literally stated that their aim for the main base story would be simplicity and coherency. Pulling a Type-0 story-wise in NG+ to get everything out of the main plot on the second run doesn't make sense given how that clearly backfired on them.

Like DrBretto said, its likely for bonuses purposes, which I'm fine with really.

he said the game have only a few cutscenes up to chapter three, his impression is that FFXV is light on story (tabata said the second half would be heavy story-wise tho).

for him, hunts are enjoyable like the ones found in FFXII; they offer a good challenge.

"No, you can't bring a chocobo into battle (your party's mounts will scurry back out of danger if you enter combat), but you can call a chocobo to perform a special attack for you. It begins with... the Chocobo Kick attack that served as Rydia's basic summon in Final Fantasy IV. It's the basic-level summon in FFXV, too. No, it's not presented as a capital-S-summon, but that's literally what it is — a nifty and subtle callback that emerges from the design of the game."

never seen it this way lol

"I could honestly go on for quite a while longer about FFXV. I haven't been this hooked on a game in years. Like everyone else who has played these first few chapters of the game, I have no idea how the final product will turn out, or if it will maintain my interest all the way through to the end. Still, that I've enjoyed it as much as I have for as long as I have already comes as a huge (and quite pleasant) surprise. This project has experience so much tumult over the past decade that I never really expected it to see the light of day — let alone to turn out so well.

It's hard to believe we're just four weeks away from its launch, but the proof is in the playing. There's a tough month ahead for me, waiting to get my hands on the final release of the game, but I'm happy to be going into this long-awaited RPG knowing that I'll enjoy what lies ahead for me."

My only quibble with this is, is this someone who can understand that the bros chattering as you go along is part of the story, or is he one of THOSE people. I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he's a professional, I've just known far too many stupid people.

Then stop distorting it so you piss yourself off. There are all kinds of games with bonus dungeons you can only unlock on a NG+. That's bonus content for people who put in the time and not some right everyone has to experience.
Jesus, chill out dude. I just said that I don't like it, not that it has no right to exist.

I didn't say you did. I said you intentionally distorted what it was so it would sound more like someone is taking something away from you. You can still not like it without turning it into a straw-man version of itself.
