That's not really valid to me. The one thing you can't ever get back is time. I could understand the frustration if a person had to do something to stay alive as a necessity, but that isn't the case with media. There's a TON of media out there that can be more fitting to somebody if something ends up falling short. Also, what one person defines as the golden age may be completely different from what another person defines it. Hell, I am sure when FFVII came out, there was that segment of the fanbase that didn't like it because they had grown use to experiences provided with I - VI. There is a segment that disliked X because again they had grown used to experiences they had with I - IX. It's the same thing, different day pretty much. I am not going to allow my past experience with something to blind my thought process that may lead to me having a detrimental experience that could have been avoided if I had simply let go.
The past is always necessary, because if we don't take into consideration past quality, then the series will never improve it's pitfalls. Also those that didn't like FF7, 8 adored FF9 because it was like 1-6, they still made those FF titles.

>but that isn't the case with media. There's a TON of media out there that can be more fitting to somebody if something ends up falling short.

Yes but as a fan of certain media like FF, I don't want it to fall short, no one wants their favorite series to fall short, hell I would hate it if future Megaman titles were all like X7, complaints are necessary for a company to improve on mistakes, holding them to a standard of quality that you know they can do is a necessity, if not outright duty of a hardcore fan of something. This isn't about being blind it's about recognizing they have done better and want them to do better for the future. If you simply let go, then they will never improve, and the franchise will simply never grow, it will never reach it's full potential.

Obviously there are different opinions, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't or can't voice them.

Well that got deleted very quickly.

If anyone is still looking for the info on the "leaked" update, I think Gamefaqs or gaf have it on there.

I wonder if he deleted it because he got into trouble? That or he got ousted as a troll?

There is no justification whatsoever for investing your finite and precious time into an activity that you don't enjoy. None. It's why I find active haters to be pitiful.

I'd rather they find something they enjoy doing than waste that time spewing nonsense and spoiling the fun for everyone else.

Thanks for the explanation everyone. The reason I asked this is because I have never personally invested any time into anything I've disliked. So I didn't understand why others would because it doesn't make any sense logically.

That standard holding quality I've seen time and time again turn into some means of self entitlement. I have no issues with somebody voicing their concerns, but I've seen enough times where it turns into pure toxicness. I can always let go of a series, and there is always the chance it can improve without me knowing about it. So I don't agree with your correlation there. I understand that with every generation, FF has not only added to the plate of areas that need to be covered, but also dealing with an ever growing more divisive fanbase.

From GAF:

"Guys it seems this leak is actually from 4chan from yesterday and this guy just copy pasted it on reddit and tried to act like he was leaking it first. https://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/368579374#p368579374

These leaks could still be real but the creator of this thread was just bullshitting pretending it was his leak when he answered people."
If those are real, that looks pretty solid.

If they're fake, they're faked really well. It looks detailed, matter of fact, nothing salacious and everything kinda fits.

1.12/DLC: Coming in November: Adds multiplayer function and online server, makes the continent of Niflheim playable as a parallel story with Kingsglaives (the ones you can customize) and you take down Iedolas on his human form. This journey happens by one of the old model car from versus XIII. Also expect a lot of outfits by this update applicable to Noctis and friends. There will be plenty of quests and hunts here.

This one sounds almost too good to be true.

I also hate the time investment bs excuse that some people make. "Oh I started it, so it would be a waste of time if I don't see things until the end". That has so much fail logic behind it that it isn't even funny. I don't get what's so hard about dropping a hobby that is no longer enjoyable.
You should have been at the Konoha Telegraph board on the Naruto forum during weekly chapter releases, cause that was exactly the popular excuse to use whenever people who stopped liking the series kept forcing themselves to read until the end (beyond the "so bad its good i need to witness" group).

Oh I can only imagine. I had to deal with it from a Bleach angle on Kissmanga in its final years. It was almost every single week. Hell there were even a few people that were like "I didn't even read the chapter, I'm just scrolling through the pictures."

If these "leaks" look to get any further out of hand we should opt to have them banned from this thread altogether. Rumors/Leaks are not news. This is a News thread. Speculation should be taken to General Discussion.

Quite plausible, which is the key to a good fake leak.

If the multiplayer is PvP, I guess that means it is really a "World of Versus" in a manner of speaking.
Multiplayer World of Versus? Oh dear
Every time I hear about this World of Versus especially things in regards to Stella, dear lord I hope that World of Versus thing is fake, or at the very least that part.

They are worse than Fox News at this point.
Blasphemy. Nothing is worse than Fox News xD

Pretty much what I had to go through as well (Aizen and Chair sama are best characters in all of Bleach btw)

But yes, your original point for all of this rings true: time is something you never get back. Those who spend it on something they don't enjoy for lols and hateful purposes are idiots of the highest order.

People want to enjoy it, they want to see if they can be proven wrong, most haters don't want to be haters of it, they simply want it to be good, and end up hating it as a result. I don't hate FFXV, but I'll be damned if I said the storytelling doesn't need work, I've been looking forward to this game for years, I didn't need to be a FF7 beater, it just needed to not have glaring story, and gameplay issues, as with most games. I didn't need to be Versus XIII, just don't disappoint in the things you changed then I'll be good, but sadly they did, and by god the free cutscenes, the very fact that people en mass had to ask for that, and the fact that is happening in a Final Fantasy title. You know the titles that gave us amazing stories like FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, and FFX, is getting story updates, just to fix glaring issues the other titles didn't have?

Those that dislike something have every right to voice their opinion, if someone can give blind praise to something, then they have equal weight to those that give blind hate. Also ruining the fun for everyone else, if someone on the internet is ruining your fun, then I don't know what to tell you. Someone can talk absolute crap about my favorite games of all time MM2, KH2, FF7(hopefully to be replaced by the remake), and my fun won't be spoiled in the slightest.

Completely missed the point of my posts =)

Edit: I'll clarify specifically what I mean since most of what I said flew right over your head.

I am addressing a very specific group of people. This group being people who actually don't like something, but continue to engage with it because hating on it is their actual hobby.

I am not
talking about people who do enjoy something, but are rational enough to voice their dislikes and grievances.

For example, I'll use Bleach the manga to illustrate my point.

Every week, without fail, there were people who absolutely hated it yet they took the time out of their day to read it and leave a hateful comment. The story, the art, the writing, the characters etc etc.

"I don't know why I keep coming back every week to read this piece of shit manga. Fuck Tito Kubo that guy's a fucking idiot. Anyone who likes and reads Bleach is a fucking moron"

That is what I don't understand. These group of people I just cannot understand.

Understood? Are we clear? Surely that's enough clarification?

You know what game started the whole story update thing? FFVII. =P

The original version of that game explained almost nothing about how Cloud got to Midgar, with multiple scenes being added in the US/International releases to remedy that.

It also needed a sequel years down the line to squash a common perception that humanity was wiped out by Meteor.

In other words, story updates are neither new nor telling.

Took a couple of screenshots for those curious as to what it looks like.

Screenshots? What kind of hardware are you running that on? ;)

All joking aside, there's something incredibly melancholy about the packaging when taken as a whole. It's still gorgeous, though.
