Hmm, it seems that this video from Dec 2016 shows the music DOES NOT restart after insomnia battles:

Now I'm confused. I thought the leaker said the team was going to"fix this" but it seems like this was already fixed. Maybe this was changed in an earlier update.

"There are a lot of things I can't really say about the multiplayer future just yet," Tabata says, "but it will tie into the game — the main game — at some point in the story. And for the multiplayer feature, we are less focused on playing as the four main characters but rather as an avatar that the user creates themselves. So rather than having you and your friends play as these four guys and experience their journey again together, it's more about the journey that you and your friends have together with each other in this world."

Tabata's description of 15's multiplayer mode seems to line up with fan speculation that it will be set during the main story's 10-year time skip. The popular line of thought is that the multiplayer component seems likely to repurpose the main game's assets in order to allow players to experience the world of Eos's descent by way of a cooperative take on the story mode's combat system — one that replaces AI-controlled companion characters with other players.
an avatar character would really fit within a dream world of sorts.

So Tabby was the one pushing for the social media connectivity features, hmm? I've gotta give him props for that, because they turned out fantastically. (Love Prompto's camera. <3 )

It also sounds like they're looking for a new gameplay hook for the VR add-on, which sounds like a good idea to me. VR has its own rules, so rethinking everything is probably smarter than trying to make a copy of something that's already been done.

Now I'm thinking of that silly "World of Versus" rumor again, because getting in Noct's head during the timeskip (virtual) visual novel style could be really interesting. XD; Or, heck, playing as Noct as a kid in Tenebrae, because sitting in a wheelchair could serve as the necessary frame of reference for free movement in VR.

That is interesting. In more ways than one.

First of all, asset ripping from PS4 games is known to be near impossible and takes a long time to break through all the codes. Even then, getting a clean asset rip in itself is another challenge. So the fact that, this person... cracked the code of the game, ripped and compiled enough files to have recompiled an unknown asset that no one knew would know was on the disc... Yeah, that's kinda sketchy at best.

However, the quality of the model looks legit and high quality. So it's hard to determine it's legitimacy.

Usually asset rippers are not 3D artists or are amateur hobby modellers. And I haven't seen many rippers make anything as decent like this.

Personally, I think this is legit.

I knew there was something weird going on. The asset's pretty high quality artistically, but it seems significantly lower poly than standard XV assets.

Anyway, here's a thought -- what if it isn't an asset rip from a PS4 game?

Birth by Sleep contained assets for Sora and Riku as they appeared in the demo reveal of Dream Drop Distance, presumably because BbS and DDD were sufficiently similar that the former could be used as a testing ground for prototype work on the latter.

Versus XIII was, at one time, intended to be made using Crystal Tools. It's not impossible that a Versus XIII asset could have wound up hidden somewhere deep in the code for FFXIII.

Those Noctis and Gentiana models are taken from the game, he also posted an Adamantoise, Bahamut, Iris, the boat, a fishing lure and cup noodle model picture. That nude Gentiana model is used whenever she
transforms into Shiva

As for the Versus XIII Noctis outfit, maybe it's just something they left in the game that they were playing around with, it's not uncommon to find that sort of things in game data. FF13 had a nude Vanille in the game data too, and BBS had Jungle Book level data, KH2 had Buzz and Woody models.

If I remember clearly buzz and woody got dropped, same with the Jungle Book level for BBS, also don't all characters have nude models? I mean she was nude in the crystal so it makes sense. The Versus concept outfit was never meant to be in the game in fact it only showed up in the CGI trailers, and the XV outfits we have now are the Versus outfits used for the gameplay. Doesn't make sense unless they were planning on using them.

If I remember clearly Crystal Tools didn't run Versus XIII, I'm guessing those are the models that were used in the Ebony engine before moving everything to Luminous. I would also find it hard to believe that Iris would be in the data of FFXIII, because it's most likely that if they were using testing the game in Crystal Tools, the only thing that would be tested is the 4 bros for the gameplay aspects, and a couple of areas to see if the open world works. In fact if I remember clearly 2010 was when we first saw gameplay of the game itself where only Noctis was running around the open world and that most likely was Ebony Engine not Crystal Tools. Iris was designed by Roberto, and he joined in May of 2010, he also designed Gentiana, so this would have during the Ebony Engine era, and remember the 2013 Trailer was Ebony Engine, and Luminous was lighting, so it's very possible that the stuff we see right here was in the FFXV game disc itself..

I hadn't seen the other models and thought it was just the weird Noct model, hence the theory. Ebony was a Crystal Tools branch originally, so it's not that implausible that FFXIII could have been used for testing stuff early in development (i.e., pre-2010).

There's no way Iris or Gentiana would have been used for such testing, though. The sheer number of models alone (and the fact that he was able to grab one by request within a few hours) is enough to tell the guy's legit, and seeing the way the models that actually are in the game render in the program he's using explains a lot about the way the Versus model looks. It couldn't be clearer that the way the game stores its models has been completely compromised... which is actually nice to hear, because I was hoping I'd be able to stick them on my computer and play around with them like the models I had from Squenix's PS2, PSP, and PSP games.

I still think the Versus model's outfit looks a bit too low-poly for the current version of the game, though.

On a different note...
Nude Gentiana seems quite risky, given some of the glitches I've heard reported involving the camera phasing through characters' clothes. XD It wouldn't make a lot of sense for a model that only appears for a split second during the Shiva summoning sequence to differ significantly from the model underneath Gentiana's clothes, but... yeah.

I'm thinking the low-poly has to do with the 2013 Trailer origins of FFXV, which is why the models look low-poly because that is where the original graphics for FFXV came from. I'm going to bet though that the clothes that Noct wears here would have had story significance or was an alternate costume, because there is no reason for it to be in the game otherwise especially if the actual clothing for Noct was around in 2010. There was a rumored "leak" that had Noctis where those clothes for the 3rd game of Versus XIII, and having a cutscene from the 2006 Trailer, so instead of a timeskip he would have just become stronger.

Also Ebony is heavily modified, and the original Versus XIII gameplay trailer would have only used the Crystal Tools graphics engine, I wouldn't be surprised if Versus XIII testing wouldn't have worked with XIII.

The face doesn't really look like the 2013 version of the game, though. =/ It's the clothes and accessories that look like they've got baked-in details where FFXV tended to fully model things; once I saw the default outfit model's face rendered using the same software, it became clear that the appearance had less to do with a lack of polygons and more to do with the software's default lighting.

There's no way to know where and why this particular model was created, but "remnant from the third game of Nomura's project" is one of the least likely explanations. It's far more likely to have been intended as an alternate costume, albeit an unfinished prototype.

The concept art for FFXV is gorgeous. I love those Gralea-looking pieces.
