Bravely Default. Picked it up at launch, played it for a bit, then left it alone. Picked it up again recently and have been at it ever since.
I'm quite certain this has now replaced FF V as my favourite job system oriented "FF". It's incredibly more versatile than FF V and the story has me wanting more.

Started playing Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 6 as a cram session before the N2 exam next week. Really, it's more for studying than enjoyment >_>; like taking a break from boring study time with a more interesting study time. I've only been able to score 30-70 points above the passing grade on mock exams and I want to make that as close to the maximum score as possible...
With XenoX I would just hear more of the same lines over and over and the style of the dialogue was pretty far off from the essays and idioms used in the exams... while it was a fun time-killer, not the greatest for language practice.

80~ hours later, I finally became the Pokemon Champion in Y a few days ago. It was a fun ride, especially since the only other Pokemon game I've played was HeartGold, so a lot of things were still exciting for me. I'm still playing it, but a lot more casually now. I'm planning on obtaining every Eeveelution next. I've already bred a bunch of Eevees and only need Vaporeon and Espeon now, I think.
Aside from Pokemon, I've started playing Final Fantasy VIII for the first real time. Years ago I watched my sister almost finish it, but I don't remember much about the game aside from the first few hours and a handful of spoilers. Honestly I'm enjoying it. I find the battle system a refreshing change of pace. Sure, it's far from perfect, but as someone who's played a lot of JRPGs, it's nice to experience something different from what I'm used to. I'm especially intrigued by the summoning mechanics. I like most of the characters so far (Squall and his treatment of Quistis aside); the dialogue has made me laugh more than once.
All in all, a really interesting game. It makes me question why some people hate VIII so much. I know it's hard to follow up FF6 and 7, but it still deserves to be judged by its own merits.

I know everyone's entitled to their opinion, but this is a common one I don't get. I find Quistis' behavior toward Squall to be creepy and inappropriate and have zero issues with him being cold about it because it obviously makes him uncomfortable. If the genders were reversed, I think more people would notice that Quistis is abusing power and is kind of a horrible teacher for it... It doesn't matter if she's young or pretty or popular, or even if she's a good person otherwise; the way she treats him is really unprofessional. Not sure how far you are into the story, but there's a reason she ends up the way she does early on in the game and I actually doubt it was completely of her own volition

I understand not liking it as much as the others, I mean I doubt it's going to end up as one of my favourites, or disliking it period, but I've come across some people who outright HATE the game and I'm genuinely curious why.
I'm still pretty early on in the game (I'm just about to start the first mission as a SeeD) and I don't find her behaviour to be creepy, though I agree about her being unprofessional given that Squall is her student. Quistis just seems like she was trying to get him to relax and open up. I feel like if Squall had said something in objection to the way she treats him, she would've backed off. Maybe I'm just not seeing something you do, but I can't help feeling a little bad for her.

I feel like it's for the best that she's resigning from being a teacher. Quistis would probably make a good teacher if she gained more maturity, which is what I'd like to see happen slowly over the course of the game. Based on what little I know of her life so far, it sounds like she didn't have time to fool around as a teenager, make mistakes and evolve as a person from them. I'm not saying she shouldn't be held accountable for her actions because of that; I just think she's an interesting and likeable character.
I probably just project onto Squall because I would be really creeped out if a teacher flirted with me, even if I liked the teacher. I'd probably stop going to class lol. Quistis either got some advice from Xu or had been planning it for a while because if she didn't stop she'd probably end up fired. But first she had to get Squall to go with her to the campus' Lovers Lane as a last ditch effort, and to do that she said she'd fail him if he didn't. Even as a joke that's... not funny... poor awkward teenager Squall. Everyone in VIII was an awkward teen, tbh.

I actually always thought Squall was kinda cute with Selphie (I also just like Selphie best in general), he was surprisingly friendlier with her than the other girls from the outset, though Rinoa screams "love interest".
Also I think the translation made Squall more of an ass than he was originally intended to be, but I haven't played the Japanese version yet to be sure. The famous "...whatever" is more translation laziness/humor than an accurate depiction of the original script.
