Just played MGSV:GZ for the first time and really enjoyed it. Looks like it'll be Kojima's magnum opus in every way.
Also finished Her Story which was a pretty interesting experience. Would love to see the gameplay mechanic be expanded on for a more elaborate crime/detective-story game.

Well I got a Wii U, so Smash Bros! Shulk, Robin, and Villager are really fun so far.

Glad I picked up the pro controller though. If I remember correctly the gamepad was received very positively when the Wii U first came out, but really I find it bulky, cumbersome, and just terrible. The pro controller is much better, but even that is a little too big to be completely comfortable. It's similar in size to an Xbox controller I guess, which I also find to be too big. I do have kind of small hands, so I guess that's why. (Dualshock is perfect for me).

I also picked up Bayonetta 2. It comes with a copy of Bayonetta 1, so I'm going through that one first (since I never played it when it initially came out). It's amazingly fun, but I'm also amazingly bad at it. I was getting my ass handed to me before I realized the combat is much more about dodging than it is about continually attacking. Hopefully I get better at the timing aspect for both evading enemy attacks and executing combos.

Also, I finally put away the old PS2. It was a good 12 and a half years. ;_;7

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. I'm enjoying it so far, but it has quite a slow start. I'm in Chapter 2 and from what I heard the story's gonna pick up soon.

And I'm not the type of fan who loves shipping fictional characters, but dammit, Estelle and Joshua make a perfect pairing. My inner fangirl's gonna rage if they don't become an actual couple.

Speaking of replaying games, believe it or not, I've had the urge to play Final Fantasy XIII again. I just like it. The combat system is great & the character development is interesting. Whatever flaws others say, though I do see them clearly, I never minded.
I never understood hate for the battle system quite honestly. Paradigms were fresh. The hate for it makes NO sense, the meta game is literally no different from the most basic ATB system (ala VI).

Even more silly when people say things like "Game plays itself."
..... because yeah, auto-battle is gonna carry you through all stages of XIII.

I want to get XIII on my hands, either on PS3 or Steam (though my PC is like 10% weaker than the requiere specs )

From all FFgames i´ve played, there was always something very consistent in the series, gameplay was never boring and could have a blast, some games to a bigger extent than others but, point is: even if a FFgame doesn´t have "good" writing or game design, the gameplay was and is always delicious.

The combat system is like the best thing that came out of FFXIII. The fact they used active time battle as a gauge to execute your commands just made things fast paced and with the paradigm shift, battles are experienced in many forms because there's so much variation in it.

People assumed that if the level design is bad, so is the rest of the game. I say f**k no to that. The music is especially some of the best. No one can't deny to that. When people first heard "Blinded by Light"..... Almost the whole community back then had an eargasm, let's just say. Hamauzu is just beast.
Agreed on all fronts, there was actually a LOT of depth to XIII's battle system. Unfortunate that most people are unable to take off these broken "rose-tinted glasses" and see that.

Man.... when people did No Crystarium challenge and learned how to dodge Barthandelus' Destrudo attack, omg haha.
And yep, the soundtrack was great, one of the reasons I still enjoy X and XIII to this day.

I think gameplay is paramount in what makes a JRPG. At least for me.
If I can't enjoy the gameplay at all, no way am I going to beat the game, no matter how great the story is.
I've missed out on a lot of so-called "gems" because the gameplay just wasn't engaging or fun at all.
