Imagine if that would be completely explorable :D
I just can't see it, but from what I've seen of their goals and videos with Lestallum I think what we do get may be surprisingly robust. I hope a significant portion of the game revolves around Insomnia as well. It's such a fantastic, interesting setting that I just want to spend time exploring and fighting in it! I love its recent walled design as well.

I hope we'll be exploring the modern city (Lucis/Imsomnia), I want to see that place since the old Versus XIII trailers.
Don't we all! I noticed that SE specifically only mentioned Altissia when asked about BOTH Altissia and Insomnia, I'm hoping against hope its because they are saving the real reveal of Insomnia footage for the March 30 event....please be true!

Especially after Yusuke Naora (sp?) teased the Insomnia concept art again through his presentation back in March of last year...

Yeah, the setting of Insomnia as it was originally presented was so intruguing to me, much moreso than the character of Stella, it was the setting of Insomnia that made me feel what Versus XIII was, maybe that was Nomura's fault though.

If he had shown concept roadtrip footage as our introduction to the game, maybe I'd feel differently. Yes I realize we saw roadtrip in 2008, still it was because we kept seeing Insomnia over and over trailer after trailer..until 2014 that is, that it seemed like the same game to me, even after it had changed to FFXV.

I feel like if Tabata had shown at least a little bit of Insomnia or at least the Lucis region (instead of Duscae over and over) we would still feel the Versus vibes all the way to today. I really hope that the reason we havn't really seen any glimpses outside the Dawn trailer, is because they just didnt have the setting in any form of real-time outside of the imperial palace tech demo location--and that we will soon see real footage of the city in March... On second thought, I shouldn't get my hopes up too much should I, lol this game!

In terms of how much time we will spend in each place of the game, I would put it in this order:
  1. Moving between each Nation.
  2. Altissia.
  3. Accordo.
  4. Lucis.
  5. Insomnia.
EDIT: LoL, I found out that Lucis/Insomnia made an appearence outside of XV, it was in Theatrhythn

I feel the same way, the city was like the heart of the game. The invasion as originally intended would make for the ideal start, because you'll begin from Imsomnia after the invasion it seems.

I'm kinda worried because Tabata only mentioned "combat" situations in the city. No anwser was given, when a developer was asked in the forums, how much Imsomnia would be explorable. My fear is that we'll only return in Lucis to retake the kingdom in the final act, with no time to explore. That would be more disappointing than not exploring Valhalla in XIII-2 lol.

I doubt we'll get to significantly explore the city. I never thought (not even in VS days) that we could: I always believed that we'd only be there for battle situations (invasion) and maybe, before or after that, for some leisure, like, for example, a small district to go shopping or clubbing. Or an arcade! I'd love to be able to play in a place like that (with a good amount of people and places to enter, that is):

As for the palace, sure. I recall some fights inside the castle in the 2011 trailer, but I assume they were linked to the invasion. Maybe we can still explore it, though. I'd love to (say, after we recover Imsomnia and the true big bad reveals him/herself), be able to fully explore it as the King, as well as the sorrounding areas. I particularly loved the one with the toll before the palace (from the CG). Love how modern, militaristic and royal/imperial that looked like.

And this one, absolutely adore the colours, so hopefully we can spend some time here (I assume this is an artwork from when we played the invasion, though):

And it seems like there are some forests/Central Park-like places around the edges of the city, no? I guess they need a place to grow their food in!

After watching some of those videos with dialogue from Duscae, I have to say that Noctis' voice has grown on me a lot since the demo was released. I actually like how he sounds a bit different than what you'd expect from looking at him. Though at some points he sounds just too raspy and Batman-like. It definitely needs to be fixed but I hope they don't change him too much. On the other hand, I still heavily dislike Ignis' voice. I'm not sure if it's his accent, writing or line delivery (or a mix of everything) but there's something about the way he speaks that comes off as really forced. He sounds like a cartoon butler to me. Prompto and Gladio are spot on, at least.

I also found my new favourite line from Final Fantasy.
I can't speak for you, but for me it's his fucking accent. It's so forced and unnatural... the voice itself is fine, I guess. And it seems weird him having such a different accent compared to the other four. I mean, he's supposedly from outside Lucis (don't know if this always was like that), but still.

Gladio's is nice, but he still sounds like an anime character (which I guess he kinda is haha). Prompto's is annoying, but so is the character (and there are a couple lines where he actually sounds alright). Noctis'... well, the voice isn't bad at all, but needs to tone down the Batmannes of it (there are plenty of times where he sounds pretty good, though).

Although well, hopefully it's true that they'll do a Lightning Returns thing and we get the original voices. I can't imagine play this particular game without them, especially Noctis' voice. It's been too long listening to them for now to listen to others.

I would be satisfied with only Imsomnia exploration, doesn't need to be the entire city like in the artwork. It's funny how much of the game is still a mistery, we barely know how Niflheim, Tenebuera and Solheim looks, and the cutscenes they revealed so far are very short.

Anyway, it will be cool to see the world getting longer nights as the game progress, we may get some of Versus XIII "mood" then.

Yeah, we only have this glimpse of "The Valley of Tenebrae". Looks cool and unique (compared to the other cities):

I'm eager to see how Niflheim and Solheim look like. I imagine Niflheim as a heavily militarized medieval-ish city, while Solheim could be a desert-like location or a tropical one ("Sun", duh). Both would be cool by me, although I'd prefer the latter (we already know that there's one place like that, so yeah).

And indeed, the Versus feel (whatever that might be) is something that I think is still pretty much there and in a big way. There's been glimpses (the Dawn trailer -basically Noctis' final scene-, the demo teaser, the latest ATR...), but I guess they've been too focused with ED and their behind the scenes progress to show much of that. And, actually, one of the things I'm most excited about is the dynamic weather system, especially rain, so that'd further that solemn mood and make the environments look more interesting.

Yes, was really excited to explore Valhalla, but well it was just disappointing^^

I also really hope we can still explore Insomnia.
To be honest I'm more excited to see Lucis than Accordo (which is also amazing), because back in Versus even now in XV the first thing I think is this epic and cool Shinjuku district-looking city.

I think the reaon why Tabata didn't showed nothing about (not the Versus/E3 counted)
- Lucis (we don't know how it really looks like outside the residence, only an artwork)
- Accordo (only a glimse in the tech demo)
- Tenebrae (only an artwork)
- Niflheim (only a base but not the city)
- Solheim (nothing at all)
until now.
I have a feeling that he's holding so much back about this game, so the perfect time to show all of this, is the march event.
I'm sure he will show at least something about Accordo and Lucis, perhaps a little bit the others to blown us away. xD

we have seen how Lucis looks outside of the city in recent screenshots and in Versus XIII trailers. Like Nomura said in old interviews, the early areas are inspired in western "bang-bang" movies.

FF facebook description: "Various monsters prowl the wild lands of the Lucian continent in FFXV."
one of the first Versus XIII trailers had Noctis and Prompto driving a car through a similar place, where they end up in a broken road.

this screencap of the Progress Report have an area with similar geography too, my bet is the thing in the distance is the Wall surrounding the city.

Wow, I never saw that description before, I've only seen the pics. Also, if that is the wall, I think you are right! Those bumps that are seen beyond the wall do appear rectangular in shape....I think they are the skyscrapers of Insomnia! Good catch!! Releasing the picture from that particular perspective-thats some sneaky teasing Tabata-san....OR

Conspiracy time:
Maybe at least part of the media wierdness of this game over the years, is the mad calculated genius of Shinji Hashimoto-I mean he is the resident troll at SE and he has been from the beginning of the Versus era even, (I think) the main executive producer on this project.

What if he is behind all the bait and switch we have been getting with this game. I mean, there seems to be a pattern of hyping us up for a while, showing amazing things then, killiing the enthusiasm: (E3 2013, E3 2014 (minus Luna in chair, lol-and more on that later) Jumpfesta 2015...then at Gamescom the Dawn Trailer, lol (major enthusiasm crash). Further, the only gameplay footage shown there the party die almost immdiately to the Malboro bad breath (combat troll?)--then TGS, Dawn 2.0 much better+Luna not in chair any more, (or being abused as a child) instead she is showing determination etc, more lol), Also amazing art shown of and reveal of black-haired girl name-Gentiana.

Now finally with the Nifleheim base footage everything is suddenly looking pretty incredible--even to the point that it resembles the VERSUS 2011 trailer--especially the awesome arial combat and magic (is this the payoff from the malboro combat troll?) and then even ending the trailer almost identically to the Versus 2011 trailer (which incidentially was the gameplay reveal trailer for Versus)--with almost the same reveal (animation-wise) of female dragoon- now with official name revealed: Aranea Highwind--and her design is intact!!

Furthur, Tabata showed pictures of, and finally named almost all the villains we saw in 2013 trailer (minus this guy)
http://images6.fanpop.com/image/articles/240000/final-fantasy-xv_240705_6.png?cache=1414082214

Afterall, the E3 2013 trailer, most people think was the most hype this game got like ever....are we building back towards something of a recreation of that trailer for the big reveal.. or is the game really something totally different?

I guess we will find out in a month-and-a half!

P.S.
Of course, the more resonable explanation is that this is all totally coincidence, and that there is a good chance that I have simply totally gone insane since I have been waiting for this game for almost 10 years.......
