Preech, i'd go as far saying it is arguably my personal favorite depiction of Brotherhood out of any video game. They nailed the Bonds concept and it shows.

https://gematsu.com/2017/02/final-f...s-vr-content-potential-pc-port-weekly-famitsu

From early 2017:

“We might remake playable areas in future expansions, but since that would take a year, it is not currently in our plans. For argument’s sake, if we were to prepare new fields, Insomnia would also be a candidate, but that also would take a year’s worth of work.”
Hint hint?

best GMV for this game (spoilers)

FFXV has easily one of the best and most relatable depictions of brotherhood in gaming; can't even imagine how hard is for them to live without their friend after the end ;(
The way that GMV uses character age changing glitches to fit its theme is fantastic. Wow. o_o

And speaking of theme, I find it interesting how the broader FFXV Universe maintains internal consistency by developing the theme of "acceptance" in a number of different ways depending on the circumstances. Kingsglaive, every episode of Brotherhood, FFXV, every DLC Episode, every released story addition, and even the clips we've seen from the Royal Edition add-ons touch on that theme in one way or another, with the rather odd consequence that I think the overall result could actually benefit from being reorganized into a chronological form.

(Imagine playing the game and its supplemental materials in this order: Chapter 0 -> Platinum Demo -> Chapter 1 -> Kingsglaive -> Chapter 2 -> Brotherhood Eps 1& 5 (Marilith fight, Noct's acceptance of his father's death) -> Chapter 3 to campsite -> Brotherhood Ep 2 (Gladio accepts Noct, introduction of Iris) -> Chapter 3 to Lestallum -> Brotherhood Ep 4 (Noct struggles to accept his destiny, Iggy tries to make dessert in Lestallum) -> Chapter 4 through Chapter 7 -> Brotherhood Ep 3 (Prompto struggles with self-acceptance, driving to Cape Caem) -> Gladio returns -> Ep Gladio -> End of Chapter 8 through Chapter 9 -> Ep Ignis -> Chapter 10 through Noct falling off bridge in Chapter 13 -> Chapter 13:2 -> Noct finding Ravus through first camp after the bros return -> Ep Prompto -> Remainder of Chapter 13 through Noct reaching Hammerhead in Chapter 14 -> Ep Comrades -> New and improved Insomnia dungeon through end of the game. Almost all of the frustrating omissions in the main game would appear almost exactly when they ought to appear, and the game would remain entirely thematically consistent!)

Free-roam with the bros glitch

also this

well ok then lol

I remember that article, I wonder of that was a teaser for the Insomnia Expansion for this year, I'm looking forward to seeing how big the expanded Insomnia will be.
i really do think that increase the odds to explorable Insomnia before it got destroyed (at least the citadel area), they are updating the model of the buildings as well if you look at it.

I love these two, even tho they pretty old and outdated:

Possible it also means they have other significant DLCS like this coming. Nifleheim needs it in a few places and so does accordo

Since we're due for three more episode-length DLCs (Episode Ardyn being one of them), i kinda wonder where the Insomnia map expansion dlc fits into all this.

Tbh I think Tabata used the 3 episode sized DLC as a size gesture.

But if we are going by when he said everything. He did say 3 and he did say Ardyn was first, so I don't think this DLC counts towards it. Plus, if they market another season pass, it may contain another 3-4 DLC like the last one.

On top of this, we still get free updates too.

I'm really hoping for Ardyn to cover some Gralea/unseen parts of Niflheim that we haven't seen, while another DLC/update in vein of this insomnia update focuses on fixing chapters 8-12. That would Satisfy my Niflheim/2nd half fix. After that they can do whatever they want lol.

But if we also talk about some free updates, easiest way to improve the game would be to just get rid of the Chapter 0 we have now and replace it with the following:

1) Platinum demo
2) Several KG scenes of Niflheim taking over Tenebrae and Regis taking Noct away.
3) Dawn 2.0 scenes of Regis crying with Noct and Luna being abused by Niflheim
4) Potentially some new voiced dialogue scenes from the Novella

As well as potentially adding Brotherhood scenes as optional cutscenes to view after completing quests with the Bros at the campsites. The episodes were free anyway, and could seriously improve the first half in terms of story reward.

That way they can improve things with minimal work

Obviously being super selfish and hopeful though

i wonder if they decided to make all the dlcs for this year to be part of the base game?

they haven't announced a second season pass yet, and Tabata did say something like "we don't want to make dlcs that are self-contained, but content that is closely related to the main story".

royal pack is basically this.

Very true, I could see it being part of it but since he said Ardyn was first I wonder if this was planned beforehand.

This also makes me wonder if Ardyn's episode will be integrated into a specific chapter of the story since Tabata wants to do that with the DLC (since the Royal Update is doing so).
Along with that, it would be nice to integrate at least the 3 bro episodes into the story if they can rearrange a few scenes here and there.

This is still probably early speculation but imo i'm leaning towards doubt there will actually be another season pass this year. I mean we already have a release date announcement for both the PC/RE edition.

As Storm mentioned, besides the fact that they haven't annouced one yet so far (or even the 2018 Roadmap itself), i'm inclined to believe that because Tabata wants to go for quality > quantity by releasing content only when they're ready instead of hastily getting each individual update out on time like last year (not that i'm putting a damper on their efforts mind you), that decision may have influenced the team to not follow the season pass route this time.

I could be wrong, but as of now i think its likely.

If follow by your suggestion, we will end up with separate paid DLC, which a lot of ppl wont like at all. Look how big crying was from simple royal pack announcement

I love these two, even tho they pretty old and outdated:
The song used in the first one really needs to be matched with the final game.

Seriously:

Who I am from the start, take me home to my heart
Let me go and I will run, I will not be silent
All this time spent in vain, wasted years, wasted gain
All is lost, hope remains, and this war's not over
There's a light, there's the sun, taking all shattered ones
To the place we belong, and his love will conquer all

Yesterday I died, tomorrow's bleeding
Fall into your sunlight

3) Dawn 2.0 scenes of Regis crying with Noct and Luna being abused by Niflheim
4) Potentially some new voiced dialogue scenes from the Novella
Given that the replacement would involve skipping through time anyway, why not just embrace the time jumps and keep Chapter 0?

I feel like the following might be the best way to include everything that ought to be included:

1) Start with Chapter 0, but do more to imply that the jump back in time is intended to mirror Noct reflecting on his life as it draws to an end;
2) Leap all the way back to the Dawn 2.0 scene showing Regis holding Noct after learning of his fate;
3) Shift slightly forward to Noct's injury. Include a stripped-down version of the Platinum Demo (removing the collectable aspect to incentivize the player to move through the levels quickly but including the panels and tutorial aspects);
4) Move on to the opening credits scene from Kingsglaive where Noct and Regis escape from Tenebrae as Luna stays behind;
5) Skip almost all the way to the present to show the Regis-and-the-Crystal scene from the Omen trailer; and
6) End the introduction with the Noct-and-Regis scenes from the stock game.

In general, the point would be to massively front-load the game's lore before veering sharply into the "fantasy based on reality" aspects. Chapter 0 and the Platinum demo would introduce three of the Astrals and a Messenger, Dawn 2.0 would introduce the Lucii, the Kingsglaive scene would introduce Luna and the powers of the King, and the Omen trailer scene would introduce the Crystal. The consistent strand of trauma would help to tie the first five elements of the potential revised prologue together, too.

This is still probably early speculation but imo i'm leaning towards doubt there will actually be another season pass this year. I mean we already have a release date announcement for both the PC/RE edition.

They could always sell the DLCs as they come out and offer a season pass version after the fact. XD; Tabata's mention of releasing content only when it's ready does seem to imply that he doesn't want to have to deal with the hard deadlines that come along with a season pass.

i feel the crying was more due because of the royal edition price (which gives its buyers a huge advantage compared to someone that bought the base game + season pass early), and because of the price of the pack itself that ended up a mistake.

ppl expected 5 bucks dlcs like the previous year, even if the price is just 15 bucks its a big difference.

We also don' know the content size of the new DLC. it' possible it could have more than they advertised.

And yeah, DLC is going to have to be paid. It's possible we can get more free updates that affect the game. In fact, I'm pretty sure we are supposed to get at least another story update like we did to chapter 12 for free. But we can' expect them to give this stuff out for free. Games like No Mans Sky falsely advertised and are trying to save their image by giving free DLC. This game never did so, and are merely expanding on what people want.

Just realized that since the DLC not only expands the Insomnia map, but also opens a playable path between Caem and Altissia, thats basically two map expansions in one.

well how much of an expansion remains to be seen.

if there's nothing to be discovered by boat, like not a single island to hop-off and explore, then its kinda pointless.

We have to see how much it allows. If it allows us to explore more of altissia/Accordo or some islands around the body of water, then it will be more worth it. Judging from the trailer, we can drive it in the city too, so maybe they opened it up a bit, considering episode ignis practically made the entire city exploreable
