This is a must-have for me. Plus, the Blu-ray seems like a great alternative to buying a $32 CD just for the Piano Collections (which has always seemed ridiculously steep to me XD; ).

Being able to summon the Knights of Round would be amazing. o_0

It kind of feels like Royal Edition is intended to make good on some of the game's more unreasonable pre-release promises. Does it feel like that to anyone else?
It definitely does to me. The game is of high quality of course and everything they've done is pure hard work, but the one thing I just hope to see is a significant update to chapters 10-12 (and hopefully chapter 8-9), exactly like this one. It is the one thing the games needs above all else, decent attention to that part of the game. I like that the bros are dealing with the story as it happens, so I'm okay that characters like Iedolas and Verstael don't get extra moments to shine (its Ardyn's story, plain and simple, but maybe they get focused on in his DLC more).

Seriously, the open world in Chapter 10 (Cartanica) is practically done, no need to design a new area. Allow us to do a few hunt quests in the area, maybe even some new, significant side quests. In the end, you drive to the dungeon (you can see it from the train station). They can extend that chapter an hour or 2. The real problem however is Chapter 11 and 12. Chapter 11 literally takes 15 minutes to do. I know its an entirely action oriented chapter, and the time that passes on the train is pretty realistic to where you end up on the map towards Tenebrae. BUT, adding a stop between this section and Tenebrae, or before this section would help it. Something to add to the experience. Chapter 12 has so much more room for improvement. Adding a dungeon or significant area to explore/mission to accomplish in here would make this area that much more fulfilled. Being able to actually explore the area around Shiva's body would have the same effect. Adding in a few new stops to these chapters (maybe even something before Cartanica) would be nice.

Tabata has said that he wanted the linear section to be more smooth in transition, I personally think that this is how you do it. You gradually bring people into that linear section we experience in Chapter 13, but unfortunately we experience that right out of the box after having significant freedom in Altissia. In my eyes Chapter 10 should be semi-open world-> Chapter 11 starts some linear content but has a few small open areas to actually explore-> Chapter 12 are specifically 2 dungeons with Tenebrae and Shiva-> Then you experience the longer dungeon in Chapter 13.

I actually want the same thing for some of Altissia. We don't get to explore as much of the city as I would have hoped. Some of those cliff landscapes around the city look so amazing that I wish we could get some views and quests up there. There are clearly other regions as seen by the actual map of the area if you check it while in the city. The boat seems to be a significant first step.

I agree with some of these, Cartanica should be an open world area, it felt weird to just get to the dungeon in a loading screen, and it looks beautiful, and we could've gotten some side quests there, and find out more about the Nifilheim empire, and tease of what was to come by Gralea's situation in Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 should've been longer than what we had by now, they could make a segment for Chapter 11 for Prompto to lead up to Episode Prompto from the moment he fell off the train in Chapter 11. These ideas could help make the second half less rushed, and make it feel like a long second half. Expanding Insomnia was a great thing to happen, too, I felt the Insomnia we got at the end of the game was too small, and the citadel was too easy to get into, so these new additions look great, especially the new areas, Cerberus, and the Kings of Lucis. Chapter 14 looks like a big endgame now.

All over
And with an expanded Insomnia, it's just a hop, skip, and a jump to implement the invasion sequence! Final Fantasy Versus XV confirmed! (Am I doing this right?)

If there are plans to expand Cartanica, it would make sense to come after the dungeon given the events of the story. I don't recall any such story restrictions on the Tenebrae area, so (with a significant investment of staff, time and money) it could be done.

I think we're just going to see Episode Ardyn, Episode Luna, then a final blowout that may include a handful of additional areas and potentially mod support on consoles (like Bethesda and Fallout 4, etc).

Want to know how Chapters 10-11 could've gone? Here's my take. I think there's room for improvement for these chapters to make the second half feel longer and big. I think the biggest problem for FFXV for me how short the second half was, like how there wasn't much story and areas were limited in Nifilheim, so here's my take on Chapters 10-11.:

Chapter 10: The beginning part of this chapter is fine the way it is, but, when we take the elevator, we don't go to the dungeon by just a loading screen, we actually traverse on foot on Cartanica to the dungeon, which happens as normal, and after the dungeon, the talk where Noctis wanted to stop by Tenebrae would happen when they return to the main land of Cartanica rather than at the station, and at this point, we'd explore a good chunk of Cartanica, like a semi-open world area, to do side quests or hunts 5 or 6 kilometers away from the station, like hunts taking place in the african savanna-like area of Cartanica, or side quests in the main town of Cartanica or the small village we saw in the beginning of Chapter 10 when the train got into view, and find out about the first talk of the longer nights in the small village, as well as hearing some backstory about the Nifilheim empire, like how life was on Nifilheim like how it was like during the war, as well as Shiva's 'death', and at the end of Chapter 10, we'd see a small portion Gralea's fall to the Starscourge, with the emperor starting to turn into Foras.

Chapter 11: Everything that unfolded in this chapter is fine the way it was, but after Prompto fell off the train, and when Ardyn knocked Noctis out, the perspective would switch to that of Prompto's, which would allow us to play as Prompto in a segment in Piztala, and allow us to explore a small chunk of it, and have Prompto try to make it back to the train, but get lost, finding his tundra coat, and get lost in the snowy wilderness, leading into the events of Episode Prompto.

This is how this could help improve the second half for me, or something like this. It might be impossible, I could be wishing too much, but with Insomnia getting expanded in Chapter 14, my hopes went up.

Sorry to disappoint you, but that wont happen. The reason is very simple. Main game is going on from Noctis view and it will stay unchanged no matter what. If they give control to Prompto it will ruin the main idea of the game. It could worked only in two ways: 1. If they would added this to the Prompto DLC. 2. If the game from the start was done in a different way than it is. Im sorry.

I figured as much, but oh well, I figured that it would be impossible, with the main theme of Noctis' perspective and everything, but I do feel there is room for improvement for Chapter 10, at least.

@FFChocobo18 There is always a room for improvements, but it shouldnt ruin what worked well before.
For example, i have some not good thoughts about ending and whole 14 chapter. Thought im hoping they wont change it, cause it was the best thing in whole game.

I doubt they'll change the ending, seeing that glimpse of Lunafreya in the trailer, I think it's going to get clarified.

They did Chapter 13 v 2. Its not unheard of to just give the option of a Chapter 11 v2 with Prompto.
Honestly, they need to incorporate that into chapter 13 already. It is silly that it is a separate option at this point as it clarifies Iedolas's fate and what actually happens to Ravus.

Honestly if they could also do a Dungeon for Tenebrae and Shiva for chapter 12, then you've sold me on your idea. All 3 chapters need to be extended, either through different perspectives or opening up the world. I am 100% down for a small episode Prompto prequel in chapter 11. Another thing they can do here is also add 1-2 more stops. 1 before Cartanica actually showing the bros boarding the train would be smart, as well as 1 before or after tenebrae. The option to stop at a place and explore a small section is what gives the feeling of progression and makes Nifleheim actually feel like a continent with people on it. At least open up Chapter 10 and make Tenebrae a Dungeon in Chapter 12. That would entirely fix the problems I have there.

And I agree. The ending is likely going to get clarified. Fates of the bros and fate of Noct and Luna are probably big things in this new DLC. I wouldn't be surprised though if Ardyn gets a new second form and his entire fight is revamped.

Agreed that no matter how good\bad that addition was, it wasnt done properly. It should have been in the game, not like separate option.

Thats what is disturbing me. Pursuing desire of those ppl who didnt get the ending, or dont want accept it, BD2 can break sth what was working well and do sth different which ppl wont like.
I know i can sound like a muttering person, but dont wannt overexcite myself.

To whoever said they did't spot the other Astrals...

You've spotted Shiva and (obviously) Titan. Ramuh is along the bottom beneath Lunafreya and between Titan's legs. Leviathan is in the gap between Luna's skirt and Titan's arm on the left. Bahamut is (I think) just behind and to the side of the XV numeral.

I reaaaaaaaally wanna see more of the new Armiger moveset! It looks SO much better than the one we have now.

Since they basically checked off "improved Armiger" from last year's survey (which i didn't think woukd have had high enough votes), i see little reason to doubt them on adding stat-changing magic & hard mode regardless.

Royal Edition...I'm interested in what I saw. It'll be interesting how things turn out. I am hyped, but also have so many questions at the same time. I do wonder for those additional bossses if they will be in isolated situations like what we have gotten in the DLC episodes thus far.

Hard mode is rather pointless imo since it would be easier for them to create isolated situations where they can have set conditions. BD2 are capable of providing really challenging/difficult fights, and some of the updates have provided that.

Ah ok. I spot them all now.

It took me awhile to see that Ramuh was surging forward and his beard was scattered.

Not sure Leviathan is so small. She's a majestic divine beast who had a huge role in Ch9. If you ask me, Leviathan and Titan should be swapped around. Levi should be the central astral.

Bahamut looks like the one in Crisis Core.

It appears that they're slowly ticking of all of the things listed in the survey awhile back.

They're slowly but surely doing that based on what they're releasing.

This is good. If they keep their head down, ignore the noise, work at their own pace, and announce things only when they're truly ready, we're looking at a very different FFXV by the end of this year.

*tingles with excitement*

The DLC updates chapter 14 and extends the ending to the game. You can see the final questline "A Cure for Insomnia" on the side, meaning this affects the main story. Cerberus and the Kings are extra bosses for the main story, you can see they are part of that questline and have objectives tied to them, as well as being between levels 46-53 (so far).

Omega is likely not part of the main story. It is level 119 and probably an optional postgame quest.
