unfortunately it seems the Limit Break you can unlock for 999AP only
breaks the limit of the techniques damage lol
Best presentation of the combat system so far. And its just level one. So much cool stuff in it, i don't really understand how people can call it boring.
Imagine if this guy actually fully utilized char commands, especially Ignis mark, would look even better. I guess he just forgot about them.

Hey everyone. I managed to piece together some important dialogue in the game footage that has been shown thus far that tells us more about the background of certain characters.

I'll put it in the spoiler tag out of respect for those who are on blackout. So for those of you who wanna read it enjoy cause it took awhile to type up =)

The following dialogue sequences show what happened to Cid and Cidney's past, as well as what could have happened to Cid' son / Cidney's father.

Scene 1

Man in diner 1: After his son's accident, I never imagined the old man'd keep the place runnin'

Man in diner 2: Me neither. But he did, now Cindy's all grown up.

Man in diner 1: Yep. Hammerheads in good hands.

Here's the link -
Time [20:12]

Scene 2

Prompto: You reckon Cindy's taken?

Gladiolus: Don't think so.

Noctis: And you'd know.

Gladiolus: Not exactly hard to tell. A guard like hers doesn't come down easily.

Prompto: Even to a Casanova like you?

Gladiolus: Curious as I am to see, my priority's keeping his Highness safe.

Scene 3

Noctis: Like a father to her?

Gladiolus: Ever since they got back, Cid's been the only one looking after her.

Ignis: Rather more than a middling mechanic can handle.

Prompto: All things considered I'd say she turned out ok.

Gladiolus: Like any girl, you just need to treat her right.

Prompto: Treat her wrong and Cid will stuff his wrench were the sun don't shine.

Ignis: Take care of the car and it will take care of us (Ignis totally missing the point here lol)

Noctis: Yeah.. the car

From this, we can that something traumatic has happened to have caused Cid and Cindy to lose a loved one.

If you look closely at Cindy's eyes when she speaks, she looks kinda sad despite her cheerful demeanor.

And the sad look in her eyes doesn't stop with the beginning scenes of the game, even in this tech demo you can see her eyes tinged with sadness.

It's something I noticed awhile ago when I first saw her but couldn't explain why. This dialogue confirms that there's more going on with her character than what we've seen thus far.

I really do think that Square has taken the time to flesh out their characters in this game. We ain't seen nothing yet everyone. I'm starting to think that every character that will be introduced in the game will have a backstory to them.

Great post! Regardless of Cindy's actual story, this actually does a lot to boost my faith in the storytelling in general. The idea that you're hearing this things from different sources and have to put them together yourselves (Or more accurately, I get to just wait for someone on the internet to do all the work for me!) is the kind of thing I like to see in my world building. Especially if these side stories get told so organically.

You have to be alert to it though. If you're not careful the foreshadowing can fly over your head and when the story part does come you can be confused as to why it just "randomly came out of nowhere"

There is an interview with the VA for Arydn, Darin de Paul. In the interview he was gushing about how greatly written Ardyn is as a character. How he's multi dimensional with so much depth to him.

The writing seems to be phenomenal so it's looking good so far.

Here's the interview itself as a reference:

Found another piece of info.

I swear... you have to really be alert to these story pieces because they do drop them on you randomly and you have to pay attention.

What's making me a bit worried is.. most people won't be this sharp when they're playing the game and may write the story off as "shitty" because of their inattentiveness =/

This is in regards to the Royal party's dire financial circumstances.

Aside from having to pay for the car repairs, they can't use a credit card since Insomnia has different monetary currency to the rest of the world.

Prompto has no idea what Gil is.

So how rich as Noctis is doesn't matter because, his money isn't accepted lol

So the party has to start from $0 and earn funds through hunt quests.

Time at 5:35 for reference

The irritating weirdo in me keeps telling me that the 15 should be in roman numerals... Other than that, the Lucis themed PS4 looks gorgeous! Although I think I still prefer the Luna edition...
I heard that chinese people are not really familiar with roman numerals.

Nice catch.
Even a kingdom as isolated as Lucis would have to have some sort of foreign commerce, given the economic level there. However when Niflheim invades, it's also reasonable to assume the royal assets are frozen -- just like how some out-of-the-way garage doesn't accept Lucian Express.

Yeah, Type B all the way. I like my guard and my attack buttons in different places, thank you.

The only thing I'm not too happy with is the stamina bar, because, as far as I know, we can't really move it to another place, right? It's too distracting and ugly. I know you can untoggle it, but I don't really want to, as knowing your stamina level is important, especially as you can use it ad infinitum by timing your input.

And yeah, very interesting find, Jubileus!
I actually just finished watching the video (glad they did some hunts) and caught that dialogue about Cid's son. Wonder if that character is story-related or not (I think he totally was, but maybe Cid wasn't the one fighting alongside Regis?).

If it's not story-related (kinda doubt it is), maybe it's a sidequest, like discovering what actually happened to him. Or, most likely, just some tiny character-building tibdit.

Ah, and I know that it sounds like I'm bullshitting now, but I actually remember hearing the Gil thing too :banghead:. It's a good justification as to why a prince, even before having his country run to the ground, is poor as shit. Especially when his journey was, initialy, a short one and his car broke down.

I really like it, it gives you a glimpse to how isolated Lucis is. I know I actually had wondered about currency in this game sometime in the past (it's been ten years, of course I've had time to think about fucking in-universe money lol).

I don't think you're bullshitting. I noticed the gil comment, too. But my head just said "Oh, Prompto" and moved on, never making the connection.
