That comment really annoys me(the one Koozek replied to on GAF)and not because it's not out of the ordinary for FF to have such an art direction but you get so many complaints nowadays with people labelling games being generic, safe or stale in their art direction and then when something like FFXV comes, something different, yes something we have seen in a couple FF games BUT now taken further and fully realised thanks to the technology we have today, people find it 'weird' or 'visually inconsistent'.

So, anyway, like I've been saying for months, and hopefully now y'all learned to believe me, every little controversial thing the marketing did, I said the same thing every time: none of that matters. All they ever had to do was keep us talking about it.

All that does is build up raw energy. And all they ever had to do to bring it all in is nail it on the home stretch. And nail it, they have. And you saw how quickly that shit turned around. It's almost as if Mat Kishimoto didn't single handedly destroy the franchise at all.

And, Mat, buddy, if you're reading this, I'm sorry you got scapegoated. You played pretty well in that last demo.

Guys I was thinking since FFXV has friendly fire as a mechanique (only with magic), how would you feel if this mechanique was extended to normal attacks?
Little too chaotic for that. I wouldn't want to have to think about who I'm hurting ALL the time. Just when it might be worth it.

It's only in the magic to balance the power, IMO. It'll be interesting to see it in practice, but the way I'm projecting it, I see me using magic mostly as a finisher. If you're using it as a finisher, it doesn't matter so much if they get hurt a little bit. Especially if it ends up clearing the map or making a big pile of enemies manageable.

Adds a little bit of tactical value besides hitting something weak to one element with the other one again. You can use a huge, powerful spell, but make sure it counts. Or, this time, you can't bail yourself out with the lightning spell, so you don't want to use that here.

And, if you're really worried about it, mix it with something that heals instead. I can't wait to see it in practice.

I want to punch some people faces from Gamespot video comment section. I just refuse to believe that people can be that much stupid.
They're probably addicted to the feeling of schadenfreude as a means of letting off steam and anger that has been pent up in their personal lives.

Pay it no mind as they're (hopefully) the minority.

i understand some ppl might find boring, it's the beginning, there's really not much happening and most just spam attack and don't try to do much, but overall? if this looks boring then i don't know how they are FF fans to begin with.

i mean, the combat... no open world game even comes close; this is straight up advent children levels of insanity and it's not late game.

Huh, just realized that the Arenea boss fight from TGS (may) actually be the latest build of today, judging by how the UI lacks the general control scheme on the side unlike the bottom gif, as well as the point-warp prompts being shown on warp points (just like the latest build) instead of in front of you (credit towards ChingleeTribal for noticing back then).

This would indicate the TGS build shown by dualshockers/dengeki being already old (in the same month of TGS no less) prior to the one we have now.

Man those gifs are amazing! I do hope that this game wins a boatload of awards and hopefully GOTY. Not sure if it qualifies though since it's coming out so late in the year.

Agreed, combat can be really fast and intense, you're almost guaranteed to hurt your party especially when you swing that BFS... It's already crazy enough that in addition to being careful not to hit your party with magic, you also have to watch out where you do it. Imagine if you're fighting an enemy boss who's weak to lightning - you wanna use that spell, you really do, but then you realize you and your party are fighting in a lake... Oh, it could get ugly! I'm really glad that this game is about more than just hitting the attack button and selecting things from a menu.

Mixing a damage spell with a healing one is actually a really good idea - it provides a nice kinda safety net.

No, same footage with retarded players. Eurogamer footage is the best one, this chick plays really good i say.
Also gamespot footage looks blurry as fuck. Maybe its because im drunk idk, but it looks worse than Eurogamer.
I enjoyed watching that video too - they didn't have annoying voices and the girl kicked ass . They were really having fun - I lol'd at Prompto's photos as well and I loved how they were arguing over what Noctis should write in Luna's letter lol I like the options you can choose. It's almost like you can choose what kind of personality Noctis has, but I know it's not like Dragon Age 2 where you choose a personality for Hawke over time.

Edit: I could not stop laughing when they found out what Regalia paint job they bought with all their money.

I'm certainly amazed by the amount of character interaction there is. More than makes up for the lack of multiple playable characters in my book. In my eyes, good AI and command-based actions are an excellent substitute.
