This is ludicrous dude, come on. This is a product that needs to be perceived as being of high quality, especially as SE has said time and again that they feel the Final Fantasy brand's reputation is on the line here. I get that you want to defend this game, but pretending like bad showings do it any favors seems pretty darn out there.

EDIT: I'd also like to mention that the ATR is called Day 0 not because it's the first of many but because E3 technically hadn't started yet so it's the day before day 1. Day 0.
Right. the ATR is day 0 because it was day 0 of the event. It's first of many. The ATR was almost entirely about giving us the schedule. This isn't speculation. They have multiple streams coming in the next couple of days, including literally an hour dedicated just to the Titan fight later on today.

As for the rest. Again, look at the big picture, not just one trailer/event in a microscope. That's the biggest problem with just about everyone during these times. People can't see past the stuff that's right in our faces. Showing a clip like they showed as just a preview of what they're showing today doesn't matter if some people thought it sucked. Millions of people were talking about it all at once, and now millions of people who might otherwise not have watched any E3 footage will be interested. Or, if they don't watch it at the time they'll be interested when the full videos come back up.

It's all about what these people think about the game on September 30th, not before E3 even starts. If the full Titan fight looks any better than that demo, it'll undo the "damage" the original caused and then some.

This is marketing, to an audience that is probably wholly unconvinced about Final Fantasy XV. Most of the customers that buy these games actually aren't the hardcore niche that follows every bit of news to come out. So when at one of the biggest events with the most exposure and viewers you have a lackluster showing, yes, it does damage. Especially when both trailers were surrounded by a lot of games with better showings, those unconvinced gamers are probably going to decide to put their money elsewhere. This is an E3 stage show and a lot of these people are only ever going to get impressions from events like this- and a lot of them likely won't watch the full Titan fight on a way more niche stream with less exposure after seeing that. I think the Titan fight will probably be pretty unimpressive all around given the shown mechanics, but that's another conversation we've already had so no need to retread. Bottom line and I'll say it again, to act like this flubbing an event with so much exposure did them any favors is just trying a little too hard.

And I'll say it again, you're missing the bigger picture here. I'm no dummy, and I'm one of the very few out there who didn't get overly emotional about any of this, or any other event or trailer or demo. It's a level-headed analysis of what just transpired. That video has done no harm. It's not as important as a lot of you are making it out to be. Actually many, many people are being QUITE dramatic about it. And all of those people are going to be interested in the full battle. If the full battle looks better than the clip (which it almost certainly will on context alone) it will reverse most of the negativity about it (there will always people who desperately look for something negative that will never be turned) and in the end, all it does is give extra attention on the game.

That's the part that you guys are struggling with here. That's the last taste that was left in your mouth, but the meal isn't over yet. When it turns out that it was just part of the whole, that's the dominant part that will be remembered.

I'm not being emotional here either, I'm just doing an honest analysis. You make it sound like an E3 stage demo is something only viewed by fanatics that are going to eat up every piece of XV they can get their grubby mitts on, but that's not the case. The backlash on the internet is crazy right now, and while you're spot-on that it's overly emotional that's just the general gaming populace for you and it's exceedingly clear they're not impressed by XV at this stage. The full Titan battle is not going to be seen by even half the audience of a stage show, I guarantee it, and it doesn't alleviate the fact that even the supposed story trailer didn't show a lot that was impressive or new. As things are shaping up for the game, I'd strongly doubt battles with big enemies like Titan will be any good as it is. This is also riding a wave of disappointing showings outside of Uncovered, and two demos that many many people found lackluster. The Platinum Demo in particular persists as a really bad selling point for people outside of the circle of Final Fantasy fans.

I mean, keep on keepin' on dude, but I don't think people with doubts are the ones being unrealistic or short-sighted here. I'm as big a fan of this series and this game as anybody but occasionally you have to take a step back.

This is what I am asking you all to do. You were among the overly emotional about this one as well. In this very thread, even. The full coverage will completely overshadow the MS clip. Just wait. You'll see it today.

Edit: Come September 30th, if you feel like this clip was a factor, by all means, bring it up again and I will eat all the Crow in the world.

Edit 2: Crowe pun not intended, but my fingers went and capitalized it anyway, lol.

You're projecting a lot of emotion on me that wasn't there. I said negative things about a game you want to defend, but it was from a purely analytical place as it continues to be now. My ability to be upset about this game (and games in general) faded when I left my teens. If you can't see that maybe your own vision is a little clouded here, then I'm happy to leave it at that. It's not like I don't hope somewhere in my crusty heart that you're absolutely correct, so if it's the case that you are we're both winners. I'm just making a plea for a bit of realism and perspective.

My vision is quite clear. Let's revisit this talk on September 30th.

Re: trailer

I can see why some may say that the last XV trailer doesn't show much but, that did prevent Kojima's game from getting the attention it got despite it showing x10 far less than both XV E3 trailer and Demo did.

Not even a slight possibility that in some way you might not be being fully realistic about XV's situation? Cool man, cool. Always burn like the brightest star in the sky.
I'm saying there's nothing left to debate about it until September 30th. I will be happy to admit defeat if you still think this was a factor then. Going back and forth isn't going to do anyone any good.

It's not in any way about defeating you, and let me assure you that I don't make any assumptions about the actual game's quality. What I'm trying to do here is encourage a level head and an even handed approach, which includes admitting when things aren't the best. Currently, things aren't the best and people aren't wrong to say so. If people are worried, it's easy to understand why and it's based on more than the most recent trailer. I agree with dropping things here though, because it seems like you've made a decision already.

I saw the box artwork, and.... WOW! Absolutely beautiful pseudo-mechanical beings, such majesty and menace. Kinda remind me of fal'Cie... at least the concept.... wink-wink...
