• Tabata chose the theme song for the game, "Stand by Me." The theme isn't sung as a love song but rather as a sort of prayer or message, an expression of gratitude from Noctis that he "can't say" (Tabata actually says this) to all of the important people in his life: his father, friends, betrothed (Luna): "Thank you for being with me."
• "Stand by Me" is played as a cue to players into Noctis's sentiment.
• On the surface, "Stand by Me" compliments the road trip movie theme of FFXV. However, Tabata says that once we truly understand the lyrics, we'll realize that they have very much to do with Noctis.
Sweet. Gotta admit when I they announced Stand by Me was in the game a couple days ago I thought it was a really weird and silly choice. But after watching the trailer a few more times (ok, many more times) I've really warmed up to it. I do still think it's kinda silly though, but in a good way. Kind of like in a "Can't believe I'm hearing this in a FF game. :D" sort of way. If that makes any sense.

Really seems like Noctis is shaping up to be a very likeable protagonist too.

I definitely feel that listening to the song, I think it's a great choice for so many reasons.

I hope you'll find the information useful somehow, BoN!

Siliconera did a translation of the Famitsu interview; this is actually a digest version. The full interview will be published in the upcoming Famitsu that is released this Thursday. As for the Game Watch interview, I haven't seen anyone summarize or translate it, so I'll update this post with a translated summary when I'm finished. If I happen to find other translations or summaries I'll post the links here.

Update: Summary of the Game Watch interview:
• The theme song has less to do with sentimentality and more to do with prayer. Due to spoilers, Tabata can't say much, but he says the image he's going for is that the song could be heard in a church.
• Tabata says that there are currently no plans to relate more of Yoshitaka Amano's graphics to the game, but he'll look into it; he wants Amano's art to be a symbol for FFXV.
• Tabata wants to create more opportunities for users to play FFXV hands-on, starting at E3. There will be opportunities like this in Japan, as well.
• Making a demo takes quite a bit of time and focus; at this time SE have no plans to release another demo outside of Platinum.
• On DLC, there may be additional scenarios. Tabata says this is an "orthodox type" of DLC, and they will look into the possibility.

Some of the questions were similar to Dengeki's, so I left those untranslated.

Tbh I kind of expected that.

Rin, do you mind if I repost your summaries in another forum?
My posts have been turned into NC articles (here and here), so I would prefer that you link to those instead. Much appreciated. ^^

I wonder what happend to the vocal version of somnus I still hope its in the game.
Same here. I can't recall where, but I thought I read that the vocal version was played sometime during a broadcast, maybe an ATR?

On the subject of the theme song, this is the first verse:
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

The point about the "sickness/plague of the stars" was never translated officially into English. Neither was the point about the nights getting longer as the game goes on. However, for those of us who do know about this information, reading this verse alone should already remind us of those things.

Speaking of the moon I really hope we get to go to the moon in the game later near the end. I feel like the moon is very important thing in this game. They keep putting a lot of emphasis on it not to mention it being Luna's namesake.

If not the moon, at least have Aranea transform into a huge vacuous spider, and then give us a boss fight with her in her true form in a lake under the full moon. Would be nuts. I'm pretty sure XV's going to have a blood moon, anyway, so why not? :p

Honestly, the Iron Giant boss battle (played by those who've mastered XV) reminds me of a lenient Bloodborne battle. The charge attacks, staggering (if only Bloodborne's enemies could stay down for that long, would shave a few hours off of my play time, lol), enemy movements and attacks––when played well, all games look good, but with XV it's even more so.

Not sure if they made this move before without us noticing it. I find this strange cause Noctis and regis still have Lucis Caelum on their names.

The other characters don't have their middle names listed either, I imagine the reason they keep the middle names for the other characters is because it says more about their role in the story.

..but also with Noctis' voice actor. I never play any games in Japanese if I can help it, but I might just consider it here after watching his performance in that last trailer.
-The first trailer was nice, but the Japanese one was much better: I was actually pretty surprised at Noctis' VA's ability to convey emotion in that car scene with my man Cor.
Tattsun is regarded as one of the best and most famous VAs in the industry in Japan. You'll hear in one of the ATRs he guested at the amount of fangirls screaming over him. :D

-The Sakaguchi intro was pretty surprising and emotive, although it made me kinda sad, as I absolutely adore the guy and, as happy as he might be right now living in Hawaii and occasionally making games, I can imagine that losing your "child" is not an nice thing, no matter what happened or how many years have passed (although I doubt he cares much about it right now). It's basically impossible, but oh man, do I wish he returned to S-E even as a freelancer for a new mainline FF someday, whether as a director, producer, supervisor... Oh, and Amano and Uematsu were very pleasant surprises as well!
I was half surprised Sakaguchi attended to show his blessings for the game, actually. Despite the fact that he has willingly distanced himself from the brand, I believe that in an old interview some time ago he claimed that he saw the potential Tabata has in working with the series and would place his trust in him. And haha, Uematsu saying that he couldn't stay still when he heard Sakaguchi and Amano were attending made me giddy. It truly was a special event.

This reminds of FF VIII alot, the train mission

annd here you can see Cor as the 5th member^^
I thought the same thing! The train sequences from VIII was one of my favorite parts in the game so seeing this made me really nostalgic. Cor joining as a 5th party member makes me hope more now that there will be other characters as well who would do the same, at least on the same amount FFXII had with its own guest system.

I can't think of any song now that would suit XV more. Stand By Me is a really perfect choice, and seeing these connections with Noctis is giving me a good feeling about his character. I think I will really like him a lot. Also, Florence Welch is actually one of my most favorite artists and I've been a fan for a long time, so imagine my reaction when they revealed her to be the one to sing for the game. I lost it :p

Wow, it has been really crazy for the past few days. I've just been endlessly talking about the game with everyone! Another thing I want to mention, Lena Headey voicing Luna is just perfect. Being a Cersei fan aside, I'm beyond happy about this casting. She may not voice her in the game but this at least gives us an idea of the wide range of Luna's voice, and I'm so glad since I expected it to be constantly higher pitched in English.

I want to discuss something regarding Kingsglaive's official synopsis, but it would venture off into a story-focused discussion and this is the news thread. Will or should we have general threads for story discussions?

Adding some nerdy stuff to that, In Greek mythology, Eos is a Titaness and the goddess of the dawn, who rose each morning from her home at the edge of the Oceanus.
Yup, I posted about this last year^^

theme of the movie can be heard on the official site:

another one with enigmatic writings on the wall: "... and Posterity Protect The Gift of our Great Martyr King", probably a homage to a past king.

played the demo last night and noticed another interesting thing, I think anyone knows that the cards on the floor of the dream segment alludes to FFXIII (the numbers use the same font, there's a lcie mark and a drawing of cocoon), but look at the red card, im almost sure it's written "Fabula Nova Crystallis" there.

I clicked on the link you posted about the new artwork but when I clicked it there wasn't anything but a bunch of Japanese language text.
