I finally got a moment to watch it all (well, I did that yesterday lol) and comment (and read your previous posts). Wall of text incoming:
-The event itself was great I think. Yeah, some awkard and cringey moments, but that's a given in stuff like this. I happen to enjoy and occasionally watch Greg and co doint their thing, so in that regard I was already interested, and it had pretty good pacing and content, with the audience being on board (I mean, obviously).
-The Sakaguchi intro was pretty surprising and emotive, although it made me kinda sad, as I absolutely adore the guy and, as happy as he might be right now living in Hawaii and occasionally making games, I can imagine that losing your "child" is not an nice thing, no matter what happened or how many years have passed (although I doubt he cares much about it right now). It's basically impossible, but oh man, do I wish he returned to S-E even as a freelancer for a new mainline FF someday, whether as a director, producer, supervisor... Oh, and Amano and Uematsu were very pleasant surprises as well!
-The first trailer was nice, but the Japanese one was much better: I was actually pretty surprised at Noctis' VA's ability to convey emotion in that car scene with my man Cor. I could have used a little footage of Gentiana, though! One thing I couldn't help but notice in this trailer was how much I'm disliking the whole HUD, though :/ It's quite generic and all over the place, hopefully you can tweak it like in, say, The Witcher 3.
-Visually, I'm on the fence (disregarding the demo, which, even if it "represents the final visuals", has to have some features missing, as well as a lack of polish -not even talking about the framerate-): the graphics range from fucking amazing (the animations, the character models, the lighting, the weather effects, the hair and clothes physics...), to preeetty ugly (mainly the environments, the draw distance and the aliasing). I know I shouldn't expect much from this consoles, but yeah. They have half a year to polish it up as much as they can, though!
-The anime seems a bit bland and the animation/art isn't very good. But hey, nobody asked for this! So this is a cool little surprise gift and, hell, I'll take everything FF XV, especially seeing how the first episode already gave some cool background info for Noctis and nice interactions between the four bros.
-Kingsglaive has insane visuals and art (not having high hopes about its film quality as I don't like AC, but damn, it's a treat for the eyes). Although seeing its characters, I wish that the main characters in the game looked more like them: yeah, Nyx and co are quite generic (straight out of AC: Rogue, or Syndicate), but if you "Nomuraize" them a little bit and give them more personality, the result could be more visually interesting than the ones we have (for me! This is only my gripe, and I've actually grown to like Noct and the guys: I've had time getting used to, haha). And Luna looks great, having, imho, a more distinctive face in the movie that I actually prefer to the one in the game (hopefully her costume is in the game, btw, it's very beautiful and FF-esque).
-Regarding the game's editions, it's a shame that the insanely expensive one is the only one I'm truly interested in! The Deluxe version doesn't look bad at all, but it's not worth that price for me (I really wanted that Noctis figurine and, especially, the 192 pages artbook! Hopefully the artbook can be bought independently, I'm a sucker for those).
-The "airship": even if I really wanted an airship to wander around (loved doing that in the previous games, especially the PSX ones), the flying Regalia looks cool as hell, it's basically a Batmobile and it really fits the game's setting and look. Really interested in seeing what it adds to the game. BTW, it's weird they haven't shown manual driving, no? I guess they either scrapped it (can't remember if they mentioned it in the event) or aren't ready to show it yet.
-And the "surprising" date: it's a good one, plenty of time to polish the game and having a big marketing campaign, with a big presence at E3, Gamescon and TGS. Regarding the 10 million units goal... well, good luck with that. But I guess they're being very ambitious, because it's a pretty damn high number. Or maybe not, don't really know.
So yeah, very satisfied with all of this! The demo has dissapointed me a bit (I'll guess I'll post something in the demo thread), but I take it for what it is: a tech demo. Hopefully they have (if it doesn't detract from the development) another demo closer to the game's launch for people who don't know much about this game and maybe believe that the Platinum demo is representative of the game.
