I wonder what they feel about XV internally, maybe they are as annoyed as everyone else that its taking so long, maybe they aren't happy with it, maybe they just want it out etc.

Or maybe they are more pleased than ever and believe it will be an amazing product, the long hype cycle can cause damage though.

I still feel they even if they have it finished, it wouldn't be released until the PS4 grows, I somewhat understand that because it is a business after all, and the market in Japan is a big pile of shite (currently), I mean, the Xbox One is only getting released tomorrow, iirc it's not a ps exclusive? I believe I remember them saying they have started on the "next" FF game also, to try and well, not wait another 10 years, this was recent though, I.E work only started in the last year or so.

We need an SE insider.

You mean for this TGS? I don't know, maybe it's because we're used to hearing some buzz before a big showing (although, this is Japan, so it's harder to get these things), but I would be extremely surprised if that happens.

BTW, the prospect of having to wait 'till next E3 is sad as hell, and the worst part is that it wouldn't be that shocking (although I believe we'll see the game at least one before that, it's way too long even for S-E).

I still cant understand whats with all that secrecy ,also what are their plans for 2015?KH2.5 is coming out on December so what is going to be the big title after that ?Will they focus only on advertising FF Type-0?
If so then why haven't they showed gameplay footage or any trailer about it?

I really think that people outside the hardcore FF fanbase already consider FF XV as a video game that has been in development hell for years,I am not sure that reading news about FF XV being absent in all major events and listening to fans in social media become desperate from all this secrecy will help FF XV become popular

Its hard to trust SE when all we got are promises and a tech demo for 8 years

Usually a ton of content is cut because of pacing issues, time and budget constraints and developers can't get something to work properly. With the way development is going, I would expect cut content and broken promises.
Well any promises broken when it first comes out can still be fulfilled in DLCs or sequels. I can understand paying 5 dollars for hours of extra sidequests in a DLC. I know some don't like DLCs but it beats cutting it and putting the cut content in not super needed sequels. Imagine if FF13 got DLCs for extra chapters and sidequests all over their world, Pulse instead of doing 13-2 and LR. It would've been way better. No time travel or alternate world or goddess stuff needed to be added. They should've stuck with 13's cast and had DLC of all the work they did to clean up their world after 13 was over thru DLCs.

I honestly don't know what to believe anymore. If you ask me, the game should appear at TGS, it's been more than a year and I remember one of the SE guys saying to "wait for Tokyo" in a stealthy way a few months ago. Now, if it doesn't show up, my advice would be to start losing hope to see the game before 2017.

So can we now say it's officially NOT there?

Sigh.

I'd like to convince myself to wait until the day, but I think it's becoming a fruitless endeavour. G-Bike wasn't announced originaly to be there iirc, so it has some updates, but no XV or Type-0, and this lists both playable and none playable games.

I can't read Japanese so I have no idea if it says "List final/not final" or similar.

Edit: I could see them doing some behind the scenes stuff I guess, but really, people don't want that, they want real news, and to be frank, I think fans deserve it, I don't think any sort of entitlement comes with it, it's just something that is needed for both parties.

Type-0 I find even more strange, 80% done, english va done years ago (not even needed for TGS), it wouldn't be difficult to have a demo, and it wouldn't be hard at all to have a few minutes of footage.

I think we all should conclude that Final Fantasy XV is indeed in development hell.

I'm just trying to imagine being one of the persons who have been working on this since 2006 and still is, that would be a very dark working environment, to have worked nearly a decade on a product that has no sign of being release soon and the general public have little knowledge about....

You are overreacting. Seriously, there is no difference between this and E3. If the game shows up, fine, but if it doesn't, that doesn't mean the game is dead. We've been in this for years. If the game is coming in late 2015/2016, then it'd make sense if it didn't show up this TGS. Come on, I thought I was the pessimist here.

I never said the game was "dead" though, it might be in development hell. Especially after reading those interviews though I think it was Final Fantasy XIII he was working on but he mention he spent several days working on a rock...

I actually agree with this if only because not having a SINGLE piece of news in an entire year of your biggest game, especially after having promised to be much more transparent (lol) is fishy as fuck.

Yes, the game is long away (Holiday 2015 for Japan if we are really optimistic), but it's really strange, I don't think that's just the product of a marketing (lack of) strategy and the percentage of game done.

Of course, I don't mean that the environment there is 100% a mess and that the game is going to be a disaster: I'm sure it'll turn out to be a 8+ game, another whole thing is the expectations fans have. Hell, I'll be happy if it's better than XIII (something really easy to get in the first case (sorry, I hate everything XIII-related) and keep its main ambitions present (mainly the big world aspect of it and the simpler and darker story).

I'm still in the "Official Appearance @ E3 2015" boat. You never know though. Square-Enix has had many a private showing during Tokyo Game Shows of the past.

You know, we should have a new official thread with a new poll, which can only contain 2 options: Those who think it'll be shown, and those who think it's not going to show up. We are just two weeks away from TGS, time to decide for real!

If it's stuck in development hell, then why not divert all R and D members to help the game be completed. 14 and the 13s are over. Take up all the employees for KH games, 14, 13s, and Type-0 and finish 15. Then everyone go back to doing their respective games. That's what I'd do. When I see some project or problem taking forever to be solved I divert all attention to it to finish it and move on. It's like doing homework and starting with the hardest subject first. Get it out of the way and the rest is easier by comparison.

Square Enix's issues have to do with poor team management and using an out-of-date development model.

Those teams need to work on new projects too or we'll never see them either. What your basically suggesting is for Square Enix to waste their resources and not use them wisely. There is no need to have all those people working on one project.

I was thinking. Didn't the xbone just come out in Japan?

I mean XV is cross platform so maybe that's why they didn't give us anything yet or maybe even the reason why it won't be at TGS.
Final Fantasy XIII saga bombed incredibly hard in Japan. Final Fantasy XV will do the same. Japan doesn't care about XBox and will never care about XBox One. I don't think this is the hold up. They're just having development problems and the higher ups I'm betting are being a bunch of assholes.

We're just now concluding this?
Honestly I would have been believed so, but after the re-brand of it becoming Final Fantasy XV I thought things were looking forward.

You know, we should have a new official thread with a new poll, which can only contain 2 options: Those who think it'll be shown, and those who think it's not going to show up. We are just two weeks away from TGS, time to decide for real!
That's actually a good idea. I want to edit the poll with two options and with the ability to see who voted which option. Doesn't seem like I can so far. Can any admin help me out here?

Sorry if this seems a little redundant, but I think FFXV won't show up at TGS for a lot of reasons.

First, some believe that Shinji Hashimoto has said that FFXV won't be at E3 2014, but will be there at events after that, and then said, "You would want to be at Tokyo." Thus leading most to believe it will be at TGS this year, but Hashimoto has a history of BSing (PR talk) and when he said 'you want to be at tokyo' simply could mean SE will have a lot of games to show off (DQ heroes, type-0, bravely second etc.).

Second FFXV's main programmer has left... I doubt that means his job is done, it probably means this game really is in further development hell and it is delayed. So whatever plans Hashimoto hinted at for FFXV being at TGS could have been cancelled.

Another reason is that since they showed off type-0 at pax, that could be a 'big' surprise to them and they will have that game center stage for TGS. SE feels that FFXV could steal whatever hype type-0 would generate (they tend to say this is the year of 'ffxiv, kh hd, etc.).

Final reason is that SE would feel the need to announce this game when they feel like its 6-9 months away from release thus they could give start marketing the game to generate hype and putting it center stage.

Sorry if this seems very pessimistic, but just being very realistic. I would love for some of you to completley destroy whatever points I have brought up, because I would really love for me to be wrong.

I only suggest this is they if 15 was not getting done due to lack of man-power. I wouldn't do it otherwise. Then again, if I ran a company my team of devs would make 5 games at a time, 1 big and 4 small. And as one finished I'd rotate in a new game to make or have to assist the struggling teams.
