@Fleur Aye, you have to be super quick at hitting those inputs in ME1. I also play on PS3 so don't know if it's easier on PC or whatever, but yeah, I quickly noticed that it leaves you no split second for dilly-dallying.

Its legacy as such an old game is evident in the visuals and glitches, and even the dated combat system that has clearly been refined and smoothened in subsequent games and other shooters, but the story always makes those issues forgettable.

The trilogy is still my most played and my favourite time of last gen. I still need to finish up my Renegade FemShep play actually. Got about halfway through ME3 with her.

I've just started Ocarina of Time. It's the first time I'm playing a Zelda game and it seems cool so far. Love those puzzles and exploration.
Ocarina of Time is a great starting point to the series. Still my second favorite Zelda game (behind Wind Waker).

Still going through Bravely Default. The salve maker boss fight was incredibly annoying. I guess the super easy swordmaster and ninja battles make up for it...?

Got Ocarina 3D the other day and working my way through, too :) In a very Zelda mood lately, so finally dipped on 3D, despite owning vanilla about 3 times over lol. In Forest Temple atm.

Started a game on Final Fantasy VII. Think an annual playthrough was in order, so just blasting through without reading much story this time around. Just got Tiny Bronco and gonna do Yuffie's sidequest in Wutai - aiming for the Yuffie date scene ;)

:) that is gonna be a great time. it's a game that has really held up well over the years.

Iiiiii have been playing so many indie games lately... thanks Steam sales! Just finished Papers, Please. Taking a break from Rogue Legacy and I'm pretty far through Binding of Isaac. Thinking about Don't Starve next, but I might just actually stop being lazy and get on my Xbox for Dishonored.

Just finished the first Mass Effect.

It felt like an outdated game on PC. The combat is easily the least satisfying element of the game, at least relative to the scope of exploration and roleplaying afforded to the player. Yet for some reason, the PS3 feels incredibly sloppy next to the Steam version of the game. I don't recall having AI freak out this much, and it's particularly irritating when a party member inexplicably refuses to move, or glitches into the environment in the midst of a mission. I greatly prefer playing the game with a controller as opposed to a keyboard and mouse, but the console version being blighted with long loading screens in a game blighted with plentiful loading screens gives some reason to pause if I ever want to replay the game again.

Still a great game, obviously. A good 6/10 for the PS3 version next to the 7/10 PC version, and I wish that the succeeding Mass Effect games have expanded on the RPG scope rather than the gradual linear streamlining. Now, a future Mass Effect game with the satisfying combat of later ME games, with expanded opportunities for roleplaying, exploration, a decent Mako, wide array of party members to recruit rather than just five or six, and a good inventory system with a decent loot system would be a perfect Mass Effect game.

Of course, until BioWare releases the fourth installment, I'm working through the trilogy on PS3. Just replayed the first Mass Effect like I have said, and I'm now on Mass Effect 2...once this importing process goes by without incident. If anyone is interested, I've given up pursuing a Paragon Shepard, and swung the other way, culminating in:

Wrex shot to death, Ashley my sacrificial lamb on Virmire, the Rachni Queen dead, the Council dead, and organising the start of a human supremacist Council (an idea doesn't seem to get very far, due to ME2, I know).

I played PT Silent Hills too. It was fun. Did it with my little brother. I was legit scare at least 3 to 4 times. I'm not good at horror survival games but I liked it.

Right now I'm playing Grandia on my PS Vita. But I WANTED to play Tales of Xillia 2. My Hard drive messed up just as I installed it. Now I'm gonna need to get another PS3 for the 3rd time. I'm seriously questioning if I should sell my PS3 and PS Vita and just focus on PS4. But there's still very little RPGs on it. I want to get the PS3 fixed but should I bother? I got it from a pawn shop after my first 2 PS3s broke (even though I clean them and keep them in boxes). I just don't know what would be the point of buying another PS3. Maybe if it was the super slim one. Any suggestions?

I'm replaying The Last of Us for the third time. I already beat it in Survival difficulty.
Nice. I was pretty disappointed when I realized you couldn't play new game + on a higher difficulty. Oh well. I know I'll play this game many more times, so I'll get a chance to play the harder difficulties eventually. I think I'll start Left Behind this weekend.

Just picked up Tales of Xillia 2 this past week, and am loving it very much. I honestly love Elle, and the cat Rollo. Best additions to this series lol. Anyone else start this yet?
As much as I loved Xillia 1, I have no intention of playing Xillia 2. The whole "time travel! alternate timelines!" thing really turns me off. Same reason I didn't go for XIII-2.

Gotta wonder why they went for a silent protagonist this time around though. Afaik none of the other Tales games up until now have had a silent protagonist. Why now?

I'm really interested by these two points that you're making. You're saying that the combat of ME1 is the least satisfying part of the game, while the combat of ME2 and ME3 are more satisfying. That's interesting because many people argue that the combat of ME2 and ME3 is much more FPS-like than ME1, comparing it to the Halo series. But you seem to be arguing in favor of the RPG elements of the first game plus the combat style of the two later games. I wonder if those two things aren't at odds with each other. For example, using healing items is an RPG stable while having a shield is more common to the FPS genre. The accumulation of items, micromanaging, leveling-up skill trees, etc. are all going to make a game more RPG-like. But they can sometimes bog down shooting games. Do you think it's possible to have it both ways?

I've made it my mission to play Xenoblade from start to finish this summer. So far I've just passed the 100 hour mark, characters are lv70, have completed maybe 85-90% of the quests and Colony 6 will be finished soon after I advance a bit in the plot. Dunno if I'm going to go for all the heart-to-hearts though, since I really dislike shaking up my battle party or playing as any character other than Melia. I switched out Sharla for the last party member and that was it. Made the game considerably harder, too, since I don't have reliable healing anymore. I've spent way too much time perfecting my tactics as Melia to have to start from scratch again.

Don't forget you can also raise affinity by having characters give each other items as gifts. I completely forgot about that until late game, but I was still able to raise party affinity a ton by giving characters the right items. Each character has a certain type of item they like, for example Shulk likes mechanical things, Riki likes bugs, Sharla likes fruit I believe, etc.

Bravely Default though. Who the eff thought this stupid Vampire side quest was a good idea? Seven bosses to get one job. SEVEN. And they're tough too. Thank goodness ninja is broken as hell, else I'd never have been able to get through this crap.

(Also, lol at Edea's dad's name. Braev Lee? Clever.)

A buddy of mine introduced me the Mass Effect series. Going to start with ME2 since the first isn't available on the PS3.
On top of that, I'm taking a trip down memory lane by playing:
-The Ratchet & Clank HD Collection (Starting with Going Commando)
-Jak & Daxter HD Collection (Jak II first)
The first is on the PS3. Either on the PSN tore or the Mass Effect collection.

Thanks for the info.
I looked it up straight after and it took them like years to move ME1 to the PS3.
Ill give a try on that first, I guess. I was told there is this huge intro in the beginning int ME2 where you are able to make the choices that people missed out in ME1...
Ill dig up some research as to whether or not ill start with the first or second....
For the love of god do not start this series in the middle. It's one of the few series out there where you must start from the beginning. Get ME1 and play them in order. The intro in ME2 if you skip ME1 is useless.

Meanwhile, I'm playing Danganronpa 2.

So, uh... Just got to chapter 5 in Bravely Default. Not exactly sure what the point of all this is.
Do you get anything for rematching all the bosses? Or is it just for fun?
