Last time and only time. Stop posting old news.
It's not old news. :p

News
information not previously known to (someone).

No one knew about it here. So it's news. I win. And even if it wasn't news, Alex said it's okay to post year old press releases even though this one also had information from 2015 anyway.

Also Motomu Toriyama on around 30 million copies sold worldwide for his games. :p

In fairness, that announcement is ancient, so perspective there, it's important. Look, the question anybody should be asking is if there's a discussion to be had about a particular piece of news... if there is, cool. Point-scoring and I-was-righting isn't really helpful to anyone on either side.

Never doubted that press release is old. Simply no one seems to have cared about it outside of Japan before I found it. In terms of discussion, as you can see there was a positive response to it and might have had more if given the chance.

By that logic, you're saying it's OK to post old news in general then because not everyone is aware of all the things that were said in the past. I'm not even aware of all things that were said in the past several decades.

So where should we draw the line here? Should this thread be about staying current or be about the past as well? Is this something people are fine with?

I don't really disagree with Alex. If there is discussion to be had then by all means. I would argue though that there really is nothing to discuss about and this old news you felt the need to post has a lot to do with your personal grudge against all the Toriyama haters out there and your desperate desire to put them in there place. Sorry but you have a history. You're gonna have to work hard to convince me otherwise.

Power of the brand? That hunger to play the first next generation Final Fantasy game when excitement and interest for a console is sky high? Consumer trust being strong due to the high quality of past entries? What's your point Sora? That Toriyama is a god and you just want to rub it in my face hard?

Take it however you like. I have no interest in convincing you of anything. The posts are still there so they serve their purpose.

Well you say that and yet all of Toriyama's games generally get quite high reviews. Eg. look at XIII-2's Japanese reviews. Even when you ignore the sales of X & XIII, X-2 and XIII-2 combine for around 11-12 million.

A message from legendary Producer and the head of Business Division 1, Yoshinori Kitase via the Final Fantasy Portal App has made an international release for Mobius Final Fantasy seem even more likely.

"I hear the fans abroad are anxious for overseas versions. I just want to let them know that the idea is definitely being taken into consideration!" - Yoshinori Kitase

In recent news relating to Final Fantasy, Cloud Strife arguably the most well known and famous mascot of Final Fantasy has gotten a spot in the popular Nintendo series Super Smash Brothers.

Cloud Strife designed by the famous and ever-loved Tetsuya Nomura made his first appearance in Final Fantasy VII as the star protagonist that the player controls throughout the game. Cloud has gone on to make many appearances in many spin off games like the Dissidia series and even Final Fantasy Tactics. He's also been in other non Final Fantasy titles such as the fighting game Ehrgeiz and Kingdom Hearts. Needless to say, he's been in more games than any other Final Fantasy character.

Many fans were excited to see Cloud's inclusion in Super Smash Brothers as you can see by many fan reaction videos online. With the recently announced Final Fantasy VII Remake at E3 this year, it's no surprise to see Cloud added to Smash. It very well might be a marketing strategy, I know many people would love to buy a Cloud Amiibo.

This is a surreal kind of hell.
Imagine if everyone spoke in marketing.

It really is surreal. One of my childhood dreams as a kid playing Melee coming true lol.

There have been some really dumb and pathetic comments from people pissed that he's in Smash, but I say "why?" It's just fanservice, a game, etc. It's not like you can get Smash on any other platform - so PS4 owners aren't exactly missing out on anything as if it was "taken away from them" as exclusive DLC or something.

Who cares if Cloud has always been more of a "PlayStation" character? These days, it feels like gaming is more "as one" than it has ever been before. Yes, the consoles still compete against each other, but we embrace all platforms and are part of the same family. This is just Cloud appearing in another game - so what if it happens to be on a Nintendo platform with primarily Nintendo characters? It really doesn't bother me one bit, and I find it sad some "fanboys/girls" can get so pissy at something like this that's designed to make fans happy, be fun, and help boost both Nintendo and Square's fortunes. Well done to both companies for making this a reality, I say.

With the showing off pose made by the legendary director of the most Final Fantasy games ever and the highest selling games in total, Motomu Toriyama. Bahahahahaa.

"Event planner Motomu Toriyama had made the "Cloud showing off" pose, which was made to be be used in the scene where Cloud first appears in the game. This little animation impressed Nojima, and lead to him determining Cloud's false persona based on that pose."

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Cloud_Strife
Kitase said:
That Cloud ‘showing off’ standing animation appears in the Nibelheim flashback as well. When the Shinra soldier asked about doing “the usual”, he does that pose. The same scene is in CC too, so I instructed the staff to recreate that animation (laughs). You were in charge of the Nibelheim events in FFVII, weren’t you, Nojima?
That's not the same pose. The pose they are referring to is a different one. You can see it shown off here at 1:52 ...
and also here in the same scene in Crisis Core at 2:20 ...

The iconic sword pose is unique to Cloud and was designed by Tetsuya Nomura even before he was done with designing the character completely.

Unless you are referring to the brief moment where he does the pose, then yes. Toriyama did design this, along with many of the other references made throughout the trailer. That is no surprise to anyone though.
