I'm not sure, possibly that there are a lot of hurdles that the future king has to overcome or essentially stating that wow this is a lot all for the future king. I can't read Japanese well, so that's my take on it.
As the future king, Noctis has big shoes to fill, basically.

From Famitsu: Kingsglaive has achieved takings of 105,611,860 yen (around $1,000,000), with sales of 70,133. That, for a niche movie, from just 44 screens. It's topped a few other recent Japan-based video game adaptations I can remember. Let's hope it can do something descent when it reaches US shores.

I think you'll notice that the numbers went up quite a bit since opening weekend. That is consistent with my suspicions that it will have a slow burn effect. Here in the US, we're accustomed to big blockbusters punching huge numbers on opening weekend the tapering off, which is probably why you'd find so many of the haters thinking it bombed.

The movie is a video game adaptation for one. Traditionally those suck. And SE has contributed 2 movies to that perception (with apologies to Advent Children fans) and the inherent fanbase is divided as all hell. That there was improvement over last weekend is a testament to the reviews slowly changing the skeptics' minds.

it's not 35 reviews anymore. It's around 650, and they're still an average of 4.5 stars.

IMO, this is good for the game and the franchise. A big boom doesn't last. A slow burn is the best path to classic status.

FWIW, I believe the game will have a similar effect as well, so I wouldn't put too much stock into the preorder numbers. I think this is a game that needs to come out and be well-received first, THEN it'll sell like hotcakes as the perception changes.

This movie will melt the fans when it arrives in English. Oh, and no offence taken. I enjoy Spirits Within and Advent Children, but I fully accept that they have flaws that stop them from being full-fledged 'good' VG movies.

Right, when I lump Advent Children in there, I mean as a general product. That movie worked well for those it was for, but the general public wouldn't go for it. I know quite a few people that took it for the FFVII love song that it was. KG, from what I can tell, has mass appeal. It could actually be the best 110 minute commercial for a videogame ever. I think your average joe movie fan would enjoy it, based on what I'm reading or course.

I was especially happy to hear that it packs an emotional punch because that's really the difference between pretty pictures and things blowing up and a quality movie. That's all I've wanted to hear since the movie was announced. This is the big key to my prediction that this game will be a wild success. My whole family is looking forward to seeing this movie, even though most of them aren't gamers and have no idea what FF even is. That's going to pick up a LOT of new fans.

Yeah, Advent Children was an OK film. I enjoyed it, but it was an unnecessary extension that was obviously made to cash in on the success of Final Fantasy VII. On the other hand Kingsglaive runs alongside FFXV and tells a story from different perspectives, so it's basically one whole story. From what little clips I've seen it looks superior to Advent Children in every way!

I wouldn't call it a "commercial", though.

Kingsglaive available digitally August 30. Blu Ray on October 4th
Call me crazy but I'm still going to wait until my Deluxe Edition of the game arrives before watching this film. I'm not buying it digitally when I'm already paying extra to get it. Besides, it will make me want FFXV even more, so at least this way I'll be able to pop the game straight in after :D

It's just a trailer but I'm so paranoid of spoilers that I'm not going to watch it xD
