So all the new DLC will take place during the second half of the game... Man, it's such a bummer that SE never decided to beef up the first half story-wise. The disparity between both halves will stick out so much!
The second half is filled with important plot points: Leviathan summoning, Luna dying, Ignis going blind, the fall of Tenebrae, the fall of the Empire, Ravus' death, Prompto finding the truth about his past, the Ardyn reveal, Noctis going inside the Crystal, returning to Insomnia ruins, final battle, Noctis sacrificing himself...
Whereas, other than Titan and Ramuh lending their powers to Noctis, not much of actual importance happens during the first half. The story's inciting incident (Insomnia fall) happens off screen!, there's this pronounced tonal dissonance between the fall of Lucis and the bros go on a relatively jolly road trip, there's a lot of driving around from one place to another, and some random stuff like Jared (who?) dying, escorting Iris to Cape Caem only for her to return to Lestallum 2 chapters later, having to retrieve mythril ore for fetch quest reasons and having to clear out the power plant from daemons?
Give chapters 1-8 some love as well.
