I think it's pretty tragic as a practice (not that it's suprising, especially as it should be considered an Ubi-trademarked tactic by now). But tbh, it usually isn't about important or big DLCs.
Sucks hard though.
Out of those, I'm only kinda interested in some weapons (that lance from XIV and Zidane's Mage Mashers. Just out of aesthetics and nostalgia, as I doubt we'll get to stick with them for a long time unless they're upgradeable) and in Noctis' suit; for the older version, that is. Although he'll still look weird if he uses the McMahon walking style.

It's weird and confusing, and I would agree with anyone who thinks that the UCE should come with everything, but I think it's all hollow until we know about the availability of the items in-game. If it turns out that it's actually not really all that hard for you to collect your own set anyway, then they're just little throw-ins and it's not big deal. If you can't get them in-game, then the deals are a little shady.
I have a hard time believing they're doing it to get people to order from 15 different stores to collect the whole set. I suspect they're just giving a throw in and each of the items are sold separately for a couple bucks apiece, and probably like $20 for the paintjobs if FFXIV's real money store is any indication. And if that's the case, then it's not a big deal at all. Just pick the one that has the bonuses you want and buy the rest.
Not having all of the options at the start was pretty annoying, though. I canceled two pre-orders until I settled on the right one. And then it was too late to cancel again to switch to Amazon.

There isn't the season pass in the chart (if i saw correctly), and that's basically the reason why im getting the sony's premium edition (89€ one)... I dont mind the other weapons, but i dont really think they are gonna be THAT useful anyway... I mean, weapons in RPGs come and go, you cant really stick with them unless they are the strongest ones.
I do recognize that the preorder situation is really messed up tho... I don't understand why putting so many different bonuses... And the Ultimate collectors is actually the worst lol.
Anyway, we saw Square Enix listening a lot to the players' feedbacks, so if they ask for a complete Ultimate edition out loud, they may just get what they want, maybe with an addressed patch.

The article recks the same entitlement feeling that has been plagueing the gaming community of "give me the complete (whatever butchered meaning it might have in the current moment) product" and none of these exclusive pre-order content is game changing nor break the game their exclusion. You're not missing anything important from the base game.
