I've been pretty happy with the information that's been released so far, as it seems to have come from early on in the game and been light on spoilers. Having read the trailer at TGS will be spoiler heavy, I'm tempted to give it a miss. I'm not sure how easy that will be in practice!

I think a lot of you mean well, but won't be able to resist :p

I've just accepted it. Following the game on the internet, despite its issues, is a huge part of the total experience for me at this point, and that trailer will probably break the internet, for better or worse. I won't be missing it for the world.

That's the unfortunate truth.

If the RD was still Sept 30th - no prob.

But I can't last 2 months Bretto. I can try, oh dear God how I try - but I'll fail..

Cheesy lines aside, I'm actually really liking Noctis' English voice. I've warmed to the whole English voice over (while still having maaaaany grips about it) to the point where I'm thinking about playing in English after the first playthrough.

And like hell I'm missing the TGS trailer and whatever new info comes from it. Can't help it, I love the ride even if has been long and frustrating as fuck! And I don't really mind spoilers, provided they're not huge or end-game.

Yeah I think I'll be playing using the English VA for the first round. I actually like them (from the VA trailer at least) and yeah Galdio's voice is a bit stereotypical and Ignis' accent is a bit much, but overall its all g to me. Also I wouldn't be able to take the game seriously hearing "Lunafrena" over and over again. It just sounds so wrong.

Yet, here we are, eating this shit right up. Every day.
Ahh, but we are the chosen ones!

A normie doesn't go out of their way for this stuff - so marketing probably hasn't affected them too much. Wait for the TV/Youtube ads for that.

A gamer who isn't interested probably still sees the gaming expos. So e3 would be the last they saw of it - but let's not get into that again.

People who follow the game would see the ATRs and the more extensive gameplay demos. This stuff has been the best, imo.

I feel marketing gives a very confusing image of what this game is - I feel unless you watch something like the 52 mins vid or have been following the ATR you may feel the game has an identity crisis.

Just my personal thoughts on the marketing. Not the game, itself.

This has been Schrödinger's Final Fantasy for years. That's not all marketing. It's also the fanbase. And the game. And the VS romantics. All of it. I won't disagree that the marketing has been wonky, but I continue to disagree that it's working against them. Controversy is interest. Interest is money.

It's not because people are dumb, btw. It's quite the opposite. The internet will have it field days and jump at the chance to make fun of any vulnerability the game shows, but it doesn't mean they necessarily believe their own bullshit. In the end, they'll be looking into the game itself and deciding for themselves. If they don't get it, it'll be because they don't want it. If they end up liking it, they're not coming back to report it. But, it will be because they were curious enough about it to want to see how it turns out, they'll look into it and decide based on the game itself, not because they ran some silly promotion 3 months before launch.

And money is power. Power is Work divided by Time. Time is a Magazine. A Magazine is used in some Small-arms.

Abacus AmIRighta doesn't understand the concept of small arms.

Maybe it is working.
