Why wouldn't you include the ability to drive manually when it's something so easy? You control everything else in the game, why have the car be a limiting factor simply because it doesn't provide you with anything for driving it. That's like saying riding Chocobos should give you some sort of point system because you have to control which way it goes, otherwise there's no point in controlling the Chocobos.

There's as much freedom for driving in this game as there is in real life, as in you drive on the roads, only in real life you have to abide by the speed limit. Why would I need to be incentivised or rewarded to manually drive a car in a videogame that has a lot of unique exploration and immersion opportunities?
Because it's boring. Corridor travel in a game that boasts and open world? I can see the merit of auto driving if it's actually an instant teleport to a location like the FFX airship. But if car is the only way to get from place to place because foot is impossible, it sounds cumbersome to have to run back and forth every time you explore unless you can teleport to the car.

Chocobos do have rewards and incentives to ride them-- they let you gain items and go to areas you couldn't get to otherwise. Same with airships, they let you quickly traverse the world map and cross oceans without limiting you to a street. I don't feel it's right to say they are the same thing.

so... about the warping ability, it seems you can only warp on preset spots? I remember Nomura saying there would be short warps, and long warps, I hope this system is more dynamic in the end.

There are some preset spots especially on really high points like a building or sth. You can get a good impression of the warp ability by watching this gameplay video.

so you cant warp on the entire building, only on a few spots (at least based on that video)... with the inclusion of aerial combat it will be fun to warp between enemies tho.

anyway, does the demo takes place before or after the imperial invasion?

Episode Duscae is its own thing. The demo's events won't exactly happen like this in the final game.
But if we consider that the group gets already attacked by the Nilflheim army, it must be after the invasion.

You must not drive often in real life either then? It's not a corridor, it's a road. What do you want it to do? Go upside down corkscrew in the air or something? The game will have windy roads and forks and other things as well. Cities to drive through, places to pass by, all the things you do in real life when driving. What's any different here? What MORE do you want out of driving for it to just be good enough to... drive a car around?

You actually can teleport to the car, Tabata mentioned it in the past already, as well as the "Drive" option being in the Travel Menu confirms this to some degree. Auto driving will not be instant, it's an opportunity to listen to character dialog and take in the scenery of the game. Also, you say that going by foot is impossible, but in fact you could technically walk everywhere in game if you really wanted to. The car serves the same purpose it does in real life, to drive you from places on roads going faster than you would be able to by foot. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

Edit: I realize I might sound like a dick, sorry if I'm coming off this way, I'm not trying to be rude.

The map pictured above actually relieve some of my fears about the roads, as there's at least a degree of winding and movement throughout them.
I'm sure there will be a lot of these things, as well as interesting dirt roads to drive on like seen in the Jump Festa trailer. We have only seen maybe two segments of road in game, and a few dirt paths, plus a city, so I'm looking forward to seeing what other roads there will be in the game. I can't wait to drive through Lucis.

I was curious, does anyone else have a hard time telling Noct and Glads voices apart in the English trailers? The only time I know when Glad talks is when he says "At least the prince isn't losing sleep over it". Especially in the new Dungeon trailer. If someone CAN tell the difference, mind sharing your magic secrets? haha

Yeah it's a little bit hard in the new dungeon video but if you listen closely you can tell them apart. Noctis is the one who's saying "Shhh quiet now"

I personally feel that everyone's voice is ok except noctis. I feel as though his VA should switch with Gladiolus and somebody with a younger yet early 20s VA should be noctis Voice . Noctis Should Sound a little like prompto but more mature.not older. But more serious

It's not the voices (or the accents) that bug me at the moment it's more the acting part - especially Ignis' voice actor doesn't make a good job imo. But I'm still curious to hear more and longer scenes with them.

Okay, the warp thing is good at least.

I do drive, but I hate it and would rather live somewhere where it isn't necessary (so I do). Hopefully driving in the cities won't be so realistic that you never make progress in the game because of road traffic.

In addition to the preset spots and enemies, you can also warp a short distance straight ahead if you don't lock on to anything. You can see it at 33:43 below.

The demo gives us a good chance to see if we like the English voices.
I'll play with them on my first playthrough and give them a chance to grow on me.
If I don't like them I'll switch to Japanese with subs.
Not because I think the Japanese VA is any better, but it may bring back the nostalgia of reading dialogue in an FF game.
