Final Fantasy Versus XV Megathread

Probably leeching on the false 4chan leak from last year in regards to the made up "trilogy", despite the initial multiple games announcement never confirming such.



Even KH2 faced pressure in meeting deadlines which resulted in Final Mix filling in the holes (they even went as far as updating some of the models too).

There is no reason for Versus shills to lie this hard for something they to know a lot about. It reeks of desperation.

Tabata himself said the movie, and anime were made to prevent the need of game sequels confirming FFXV was suppose to have sequels, that trilogy thing didn't come out of nowhere. It came out of both Nomura, and Tabata's mouths.

Also that "fake" 4chan rumor confirmed that XVI wouldn't happen if XV didn't do well, which no one believed until the Tabata literally said it himself, and people still don't, but it was the case.

Also are you going to keep harping about that KH2 thing, because I don't remember any reviews, or any KH fan saying the story was lacking, which is a common thread about FFXV. Also I looked up your complaints about the vanilla KH2, and I only really found difficulty issues, and one gamefaqs post about the game being rushed with almost everyone disagreeing.

It would be nice if you could give me some examples of critics saying the story was lacking, because so far yes there are critics of the story, but to XV's extent no, not in the slightest. I can give at least 3 critics that say the main game of the vanilla version is too easy, but I'm finding it pretty hard to find many that would say the story was lacking in areas, in fact I see critics praise the story

Both IGN and Gamespot said the game was too easy if you want examples of that.

Now on the thing about story additions, FFXV can't be saved with story additions, it's structure is off, and some of the things can't work regardless of additions. ie. Prompto's Past

Also yes people agreeing/disagreeing on the matter doesn't make it fact, but that doesn't deny the reception was the way that it was, which is important.

I had a really detailed post here but the mods apparently deleted it and I don't feel like repeating myself.

Cor wouldve playable the whole game? My wound gets cut deeper.

Unfortunate, though i do believe the thing with Cor was partly due to character switching being removed sometime after E3 2013 + the story chabging every 3 months under Nomura.

i like the main group as it is now, i think having cor all the time would change things quite a bit; having said this, i would totally love more screen-time for him.

It was said in Cor's old description that he wasn't too fond of the main party + being strict and all.

At we'll get to play him in the multiplayer part of the game, and yeah hopefully the story updates will help flesh him out. Or better yet a DLC episode for the guy.

This cuts deep, cuts so deep man. Oh god now I really hoping that World of Versus being a FF Versus relaunch is true. This makes me soo bad the potential, FFXV poster boy for wasted potential.

Regardless of how you spin it, Nomura is still partly to blame. When Tabata had taken over the project, his estimated completion of the game was only 20-25%. Having ambition is a great quality to have, but it also needs to be balanced out with realism as well.

You know what I care more for Versus XV than XVI at this point.
I want to see what Versus XIII could and can be, and was gonna be without the business and developmental bullshit. XVI can be a PlayStation 6 title for all I care at this point.

You know what fuck it after the 7 Remake Part 2 is done(2020? though I suspect 2019), have XV spin-offs/sequels set in an AU that takes whatever ideas of Versus XIII they still got, whatever ideas Nomura had and make it into a full game series this time, and have BD5 and Ito develop XVI for Next Gen, assuming I'd even care about it in the first place, if the first trailer doesn't grab me as much as this

I think that they were very pressed for time and what they couldn't get ready in time for release was cut and rewrites were made to facilitate those cuts.

Ironically this is what the full interview gave out, budget limitations included.

That still doesn't rule out my assertion to the fact that the story getting changed every 3 months during 2013 may have played a part in it too, which would potentially include cuts and whatnot either way.

I like describe FFXV as the exact antithesis to the XIII trilogy, there is little that can be done now that the game has been released and is in the hands of us consumers. but, there is one thing that we can do and that is that we can support games that tackle dark subject matter such as Nier and Drakenguard, and the FFVII Remake.

This accomplishes a few things:

Number 1. It shows that darker and or more controversial subject manner can be addressed without decreasing sales.

Number 2. It shows that if a game is too large to contained into a single disc it can be split into a multi part series similar to the FFVII Remake.

Though thats just my take.

There is something we should consider, though.

The thing with VII Remake specifically, is that it can get away with being a multi part game partly thanks to popularity and legacy of the original classic.

FFXV isn't entirely comparable outside of initially being planned to split into seperate releases before reverting back to a standalone title release. It never had a grand legacy to back on, as well as projected sales being quite lower than normal for a mainline FF title, which indicates higher ups of S.E. not having much faith in it pre-release. I doubt the same could be said for VII:R.

Thats also not adding the fact that it was slated for an impractical 2014 release date back when Luminous & the game itself were still WIP, before changing to 2016.

Cant move on when we are constantly talking about its in the news the whole time with new info to cut the wounds deeper.
