it fixes pretty much everything about the lack of story exposition of ravus and iedola's ultimate fate (it didnt need to be longer either, so i don't know where the half-assed fits here).

I just played the alternate Ch. 13 last night. Neat little addition.
I guess it answers the "how" about Ravus, but I thought that was unnecessary. The way that unfolded in the vanilla game was rather effective -- for me at least.

The free update did clarify Iedola's fate, but it highlighted some story exposition that's missing (and this is not to say Versus would have been any better). Why did Iedola want to be the "true king?" To what end did Iedola think killing Astrals served? (Yes, ruling the world, but...why? Looks like they had the world pretty much dominated to begin with). Ardyn killing Ravus as Noctis was pretty cool.

Nah it just doubled down on Ravus being Noct's buddy buddy now didn't show why he became that way especially when you consider Kingsglaive, we knew what happened to Iedolas without the cut-scene which it barely shows just some darkness surrounding the character then a fight. Then Gladio and Iggy meet up with the guy, then in case you didn't know Iedolas was(you know who), they plaster his face over it. At least he was an ok enemy though, much more than the Noct path.

Hmm I think some gamers are forgetting that the whole point of this ch13 patch was to show what happened to Iedolus, Ravus, Gladio and Ignis.

I mean what were people expecting? An entire story patch in that one update?
Often times, the people who are most dissatisfied are the ones who go overboard with their expectations by ignoring what the developers have already said regarding an update.

I feel like some people complaining about the chapter 13 update are forgetting improvements towards the one with Noct's PoV, which not only gave ring magic the buff it really needed, but even added running + making doors open faster. Heck, just by having Verse 2 as an optional choice allows you pretty much skip some of the longer portions of the chapter itself thanks to the lengthy complaints.
Anyone who actually believed they'd dish out massive story updates for the chapter 13 patch (despite that we haven't reached BD2's mid term goals related to it yet) were just kidding themselves. Patience is key.

Buddy I was talking to Nova not to you nor was I talking about the subject I was talking about previously, I gave my thoughts, and replying to his comment, I wasn't talking about listening to fan feedback in this post. Now onto fan feedback, they don't or at the very least half-ass it to the point where it doesn't matter, especially when better games are out now.
Also rushing the game out is replying to patience is key, Square should have had the patience to release the game when it's good and ready, and not rush it out the damn door.

Whether the quality of the ch13 patch is good or bad is up for debate and is not the issue I'm addressing here. The point I was trying to make is, Square promised the ch13 patch would explain what happened to Iedolus, Ravus, Gladiolus, and Ignis.
The ch13 patch we got did just that. The company did indeed fulfill this goal and kept their promise on this front.
Again, whether you liked it or not isn't the issue here. The fact of the matter is they delivered what they said they were going to deliver.
Anyone who expected more from this specific patch, even though SE clearly told us what was going to be included in it and what to expect, are the ones who need to learn to temper their expectations.
My post was addressing the people who expected more than what we currently got from the ch13 update. These are the people who need to listen to what the company has announced and stop tacking on extras that they've conjured up in their minds.
For example..
SE: In the upcoming ch13 update, we're going to reveal what happend to Iedolus and Ravus, as well as what Gladiolus and Ignis got up to.
Overzealous fans: So I'm expecting to know the full story behind Iedolus, a complete scenario surrounding Ravus and what he did for the rest of the game, more background on Niflheim, more stuff on Verstael, and more info on the experiments. What happened to Prompto? Which monitor is Ardyn using to perve on the guys moving about the HQ? Is he sitting in a small room with minimal lighting eating chips while watching? I want a cutscene shown Nifs turning into Daemons. Can I get more magic and equipment too while I'm at it? Can I get more info on the Astrals? Etc etc

There are plenty of good, great, and bad games that have needed to bow to a company's needs. If SQEX tried to pursue the perfect game regardless of time and budget, they'd probably have gone bankrupt over a decade ago.
I don't think XV was rushed. They did what they could in the time available, and to achieve the best audience possible. And the DLC is more along the lines of creating what they sadly needed to leave on the drawing board. We should count ourselves lucky that SQEX isn't Konami or EA. Metal Gear and Silent Hill have suffered from the former, and Goichi Suda was brought to tears by the latter.

Same. My belief is that for FFXV they went with the Minimum Viable Product route in order to make sure it would be completed near release while basing their actual budget & time around it.
After all Tabata did mention the game was projected to sell under 5 million, which gives off the indication that what they were given wasn't anywhere near as high as the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn and The Witcher 3.

I remember another couple of interviews with GameSpot about budget. One time he said that, even with ten years of development, the budget was kept under "strict control". And then there was the wrangling about how the Brotherhood ONA was going to be financed. Some idea of how much it cost can be gleaned from Tabata's comment that it's first day worldwide sales managed to break even on production costs - I doubt that's something many titles can truthfully boast.
And as to your mention of Witcher 3, that comes from a studio that's got a "it's out when it's ready" attitude. Not surprised there.
