This game should have been a trilogy, and come out in 2018, everything in FFXV is too big for one installment, the lore, the story, even the characters. Come on Square I suffered through three XIII games that didn't need to exist, XIII should have been 1 installment, you think I would be opposed to 3 XV Games? No, no I would not, I actually like these characters, I actually like this world, and would have loved to see more of it, and if you needed 3 installments to make sure XV didn't have any cuts made to it, then you know what do it. I mean the FF7 Remake is doing it, so what on earth possessed them to not do this with XV. FML, especially when the goddamn 7 Remake has mutliple installments to it to make sure this doesn't happen, what is Nomura taking pot shots at XV now? I mean it seems like what he feared would happen to the 7 Remake, actually ended up happening to FFXV.
Also is it just me or is the FF7 Remake everything I wanted with FFXV, menu based like Kingdom Hearts, Character Swiitching on the fly, this game needed more time, and to be multiple installments.

Anybody expecting Insomnia to be a significant playable chunk of the game when this was Versus (or, especially, when it became XV) was fooling themselves. At most, we would have gotten some exploration before the party began, and that's doubtful (I kept hoping, for the longest time, that we could visit some of those narrow streets with arcades and such). It would have been the lineal setpiece from the beginning and what already it's in XV. It's just not feasible.
Now, unrelated to that (shouldn't we restrict the usual Versus impossible wishlist posts to its own thread?), I wish XV had more cities. The ones it has, while beautiful and visually interesting, are pretty small, not very smartly designed (Altissia is too labyrinthinc and crammed) and without much to do.
I liked the concept of Old Lestallum, but that was too small and uninteresting. A couple more towns (be it in Lucis or later on) half the size of Lestallum would have been cool.

Completely unrelated the current stream of comments... but I would like to share something.
Some of you may be aware that a 15 minute preview of the Episode Gladiolus has been released. And some of you may know that the main antagonist of the DLC is Gilgamesh. This is where my theorem starts. The DLC's were always planned to be DLC's and were never "cut" from the game. Let me go through why I think this way.
Gilgamesh was promptly denied by Tabata last year when asked if the character would be appearing in the game. Saying that the character won't at that moment, but they would look into somehow implementing the character. So if Gilgamesh were to be in the game as a stand alone boss, that would create some other issues (in terms of writing). Pretty much every ''boss'' has some kind of purpose, a reason for being there. It's that kind of immersion that does not contain anything that seems awfully out of place (albeit give a few). So considering this, they would probably opt out in just simply making a dimension jumping warlord, instead trying to give it more of a purpose.
However, in the written portion of the game, Gilgamesh didn't fit anywhere, so they improvised. I think Gladio leaving and getting a few more scratches was simply placed there so that his DLC would serve a purpose. If this DLC were not to exist, or was completely something else, I think that Gladio would not have gotten his extra scars. I think this segment was a deliberation. This is an actual extra piece of content to complement the game and the purposely created a hole in the story of the base game, so the DLC would serve a purpose.
I think the latter DLC content will also follow a similar course of purpose.

Yeah pretty much what I was thinking. I recall also seeing Prompto on the snow train in the Jump Festa 2015 trailer with the rest of the gang knocked out on the ground, but in the final game we know he was separated from the party at that time, so they at some point later down the line probably tried to figure a point in the game where they could fit in DLC for him, most likely around the time the game was wrapping up in August last year, and would have decided that section would best fit for him to go on his on solo thing for a bit, so they had him get pushed off the train for that to happen.

Not only does the CGI style entirely match with E3 2013/2011, it clearly shows a visible barrier over Insomnia. Just like with what we have in Kingsglaive/chapter 1 here:
This would indicate that the Regis rapid aging + him maintaining the barrier scenario possibly already existed when Nomura was around.

Found some more German translated dialogue for the game that differs from the English version in case anyone was interested.
Again, quite the difference in meaning when reading its translations from languages other than English.
Sharing this here to provide clarity for those who are confused about certain events in the game's story.
It's quite the stark difference between this and the English version if you think about it.
There is most definitely more clarity in the German version, whereas in the English version, there was room for more than one interpretation hence the confusion that I've been seeing online from the English speaking crowd.
I think the vocabulary they chose had a role to play in the confusion as well.

If you examine the paintings in the room before you face Ardyn, it clearly states that Ardyn was the original King of Light, and how he should have been included in the mythos picture alongside the other Kings.

All joking aside the tour missions were really good. Would've been great if they added the Episode Duscae missions, as well as the photo feature where a photo of the missions was taken at the end. It really made the tour missions seem important and memorable.

Found a very good video montage for the combat system.
No HUD and it's wonderfully edited and played.
I swear it looks like I'm watching a movie or something. Dunno why people hate it so much. It's a pretty good system that's easy to understand but difficult to master.

From a combat aspect, there are a good number of people that associate no game over = being easy. Then there's the hold the button stuff going around, even though you don't have to do that (reminds me of the complaints of XIII's auto-battle when that didn't need to be used either). There's also the "flash" but no substance remarks, which honestly only take place during a few times (2 - 3 depending on your outlook) during the whole campaign. Maybe some people thought this game was going to be an action game incorporating RPG elements instead of the opposite that actually took place. There's the more obvious one that it isn't turned based. I can't think of any other reasons atm, but I probably missed some.
Its odd how no one yanked on FFVII & Smash bros for having auto attack just by holding confirm/attack button, yet bark at FFXV for it.

I guess it's just easy for people to complain about anything nowadays.
Goodness knows the capacity for appreciation has been dwindling as the years go by. People are always looking to the negative first before anything else sadly.
If you needed to use a lot of potions in the first place, that just means the combat isn't as easy as some think it is.

I can confirm with my 22.5 min fight with Dread Behemoth. It was extremely difficult for me to get a run with no deaths, and it took many tries to get it down. Even still, I went through like 40ish Hi-Elixirs and 2 Mega-Elixirs. It was tough for me and motivated me to finally do the end game dungeons since I was pretty undergeared.
Far as the complaining, I think some people's expectations are unrealistic as they are constantly seeking the "perfect" experience...which really doesn't exist. Anything can be improved upon or done better. I think Mayuri says it best:

The bar can indeed continue to be raised. If it does get raised beyond what's present, we'll need better gear to help maintain some means of balance in the fights if that makes sense. Knowing the Troll King he'd probably be like "When were you under the impression that I wasn't perfect?"
