...well, I guess this explains Noct's comment about babysitting during the "date" scene, haha. I kind of assumed she was meant to be a 16-17yo almost-adult, but being five years younger than the next youngest member of the cast and nearly a decade younger than the next youngest female cast member makes her behavior and Gladio's reluctance to let her face danger feel less patronizing.
And, actually, I'm kind of loving how, apart from Iris, all of the women are around the ages you'd expect them to be given their positions without the standard JRPG age deduction, while it's the guys who are a lot younger than they should be (Cor being part of Regis' retinue at 15, Loqi being a Niflheim officer at 20...).

Been absent for a while - so much happened in the last month that there was just too much to read through and comment on lol... Now that things have slowed down, this Ultimania info is interesting. Loqi is a lot younger than I thought, but then he did sound kinda bratty in that battle...
I tried guessing the female ages before, but I was off by about 2 years or so - I thought Aranea was 28, Cindy 23-24 and Iris 16-17. I remember how SE stressed that Cor was at the unlucky age of 42, but I guess that changed. I like Ikkin's comment - it's nice to see some older female characters for a change. I would love to see SE be brave enough to actually show an aged female character. Remember Rosa in FFIV: After Years? She was supposed to be close to 40, but looked like she didn't age past 20 lol...

It was never confirmed that Cor was 42. It was a mis-translation. There are more than one unlucky ages in Japan, 42 being the most unluckiest of them all (and most commonly referred to).
This is what grates my cheese - where is the love for the MAIN HEROINE?!
Edit: It always seems like Luna is an after-thought in SE development - in info release, trailer release, game release (story-wise) and now DLC... I don't understand...

The only thing from the "leaks" I really want to be true is that designs have already been made for older Aranea, Iris, and Cindy so they'll be easily available for use as multiplayer skins. >_>;
I can imagine it being quite a bit harder to create a full set of battle animations from scratch for a character who isn't combat-oriented to begin with than it is to take characters who already have battle animations and allow the player to control them. =P
Unfortunately I think it's a case of unexpected stuff popping up and they couldn't take care of it in time.
I have a feeling that, when it comes to development, nothing ever goes according to plan.
Love the team but I really do think they should be careful with what they announce. It would make more sense to announce things when they're near completion to avoid disappointing people and fan backlash.

Ah I suppose that is a valid reason... Once again, it's all about time, resources and money - it just irks me that side female characters are first in line for DLC while the main heroine must wait at the back of the queue before she has a chance to shine (if she even has a chance). It saddens me that Luna had soooo much wasted potential....
You have a point there. It reminds me of FFX Yuna being included in the Dissidia game. At first I thought "How are they gonna make her fight? It doesn't really make sense."
But then they made the Aeon's fight in her stead, which made sense for her.
I'm not sure how they could pull if off with Luna though.
What kinda movesets would she have I wonder? Stabbing people with her trident would be a very good start
I'm sure SE can make a plan - hell, I'm pretty sure a certain flower girl in a long pink dress wasn't combat-ready, but she made it work I reckon the little bit we saw in the Omen trailer shows that she can fight. Even if it was a dream sequence, she was mirroring Noctis which means she could take on Behemoth... That's how I like to imagine it...
