"But thanks to recent offerings, like Kingsglaive and Brotherhood, we've received explicit details on protagonist Noctis and crew, as well as the conflict between the Kingdoms of Lucis and Niflheim. The events that occur in these stories are impactful and increase your understanding of the events at hand, but they're only shown briefly or mentioned in passing during the game's early hours. As a result, there's a lack of urgency; a sense that details are missing from the plot that better show the plot's stakes."

- from gamespot preview

my only issue, but everything else looks fucking great; the tone is more on the "light" side. and while I'd prefer a more darker and serious story (maybe the narrative will evolve into that at some point), i'd would be lying if i said i didn't like this approach.

edit: it seems the jump festa scene of the guys arriving in duscae and commenting about it was integrated as a normal conversation in the game... which could mean the game will have less cutscenes than we previously thought.

I'm almost positive it's going to get really dark. Some of the voice actors have intimated as much in interviews - apparently they're keeping the -- for lack of a better term -- Versus elements under wraps. Absent that, it's still Kojima's story.

So about those camera issues ;)

Tabby's gotcha covered, day 1 patch.
I've always suspected that camera improvement was something that was being done on the side since it's been so inconsistent in these demos. Take a look at the Eurogamer indoor camera footage and compare it to the Polygon video from today. It's missing the smoothness from the older video. This actually goes as far back as the Nifleheim base demo from even before uncovered. It had a much more stable camera than most of the footage we've seen.

Off topic since I am avoiding all this beautiful, tasty, teasing and tempting FFXV preview outbreak and also waiting for Mods to temp ban me if they can, really glad to hear that PS4 Pro supports SATA 3.
Bad news for my wallet though:

from the US gamer preview:

"I have plenty to say about Final Fantasy XV, and plenty more to see beyond this first chapter of the adventure, and I'll be sharing my thoughts as I play this near-final build of the game over the next week or two. On Friday I'll have a more detailed analysis of the combat system. In the meantime, though, it's enough to say that FFXV has impressed me, even in the half-dozen hours I've played so far.

And, incidentally, I could have finished the game's first chapter in far fewer than six hours. But FFXV really sets you loose once the introduction has rolled, and I've spent most of my time wandering the wastes in search of hidden quests (there are a few!), secret fishing spots (I found a doozy tucked away in some ruins), completing monster hunts (and there are still quite a few in this region that are well beyond my team's current capabilities), and generally just seeing where I can go (basically anywhere that isn't walled off). Square Enix has a lot riding on this game, and despite all odds, FFXV just might be able to shoulder those impossible expectations."

that's all i needed to hear.

Also rough google translate of preview verdict:

"In short, that keep this game session? Mainly as positive. Final Fantasy XV proves convincing. Thanks to one of the best license combat system, open world worked and coherent and a group of players that we like to follow. After blowing hot and cold, Square Enix seems to have finally found the right formula, and this little report two months have not been finally a big plus. The urge to return and finally make a final verdict on this Final Fantasy continues to grow gradually as the release date approaches. A game that, hopefully, will become as iconic for fans of the license that some of the previous iterations."
