I was only 10 when it was announced on that faithful May 8th, 2006.

The transition between 2011 and 2013 was a really dark time.

I actually forgot about Versus XIII in 2009 or smth since there was barely any news back then, but get back to the hype train at E3 2013.

Because, much like 99% of all internet talk related to Nomura, people are having crazy emotional reactions to things only they can see.

Sounds like an upper management decision. Pretty reasonable one - the same feeling I had when they switched directors in FFXV.

I think the thing people are reaching for is that he said "other stuff" instead of FFXV. But, that's a bit of a stretch to me. Fits "the narrative" but, that's how hysteria works.

Sort of depends on the person. And don't forget, their bigger projects like Compilation and FNC were being headed by multiple people. And look what we dear fans said to them about those little gems...

Doubt Nomura has the time to be angry. He's got Kingdom Hearts III and VII Remake to finish. Besides, he worked with them during the major change period in 2013-2014, so the final product is more than likely how he agreed to best preserve his vision. He'll get another chance someday, I know it.
