Towards the end of the video (minute 10 onward) there are some weird cuts, not necesarily bad but they give me more videogame cutscene transition vibes rather than movie cutscene transition, it´s a weird feeling :/

Yup. I saw the weird cuts, too. We're not crazy.

I am willing to take a few things in stride here given the circumstances, though. Mainly the dub and those cuts and anything else that might occur from a movie being developed by a studio that make video games and not movies.

I'm not jumping to conclusions. There are dozens of reviews out there. And each of them have content beyond the score. In any of these situations, you can usually throw out the reviews on the extremes in both directions. This one you quoted here is someone who apparently put it up against impossible standards, and it shows. Just like the 5/5 review is far too gushy to be taken seriously. Both of them can be safely ignored. The consensus for this movie is pretty clear:

Looks great, cool action, maybe moves a bit too fast for some. Imperfect but probably the best video game-based movie out there. A solid good time. Not going to teach you about life, but it'll be fun to watch.

Oh and that drunken hipster Ardyn....it's so obvious that he's a bad guy. It's not as if they not trying to hide his smug and sinister character. Nope. They are so obvious.

This is pretty much what I expected. Won't rock the world, but probably exactly what enthusiasts of XV are hoping it would be. Can't wait to sink my teeth into it. The first twelve minutes certainly had some wobbly bits but I didn't see anything beyond forgiveness.

Not a fan of the use of narration at the beginning, things feel rushed and don't seem to make much sense for the XV timeline. With that criticism out of the way, my goodness, this film is beautiful, and the action sequences so far are spectacular. Nyx is definitely "worth the wait."

was thinking here... I think it's a good marketing move to release Kingsglaive before FFXV, because you still don't don't know much about FFXV you watch with a more open mind like say, Advent Children, which almost every fan had a deep emotional connection with the original when the movie released and consequently, higher standards.

Overall not impressed with the story, cgi is top notch.. 1st time watching, the eng dub was not that good with the character.. 2nd time watching, if focus on the voice rather than cgi, it was pretty good actually.. i give 6.5/10.. the story not that strong for me."

"Saw it today at the theatre (I live in Singapore btw). I was honestly surprised by how much I liked the movie.

The first 15-20 minutes are a bit convulted and too heavy on cliche voice acting (I lost count how many times the word 'hero' is said), but after the intro the real plot gets going and it actually kept me hooked all the way through. I loved the political intrigue and was shocked by how dark and gritty the movie actually is.

Besides the first 15 mins and another 10 mins in the last third (where I don't know what the hell is going on) I found the movie pretty solid. The voice acting of the main characters is top notch and the visuals are truly unbelievable.

I definitely recommend it even for non-FF fans."
