Wasn't aware we were fighting, lol
Wazi is just insane.

@LeonBlade whoops, sorry T^T. I guess I just heard wrong/ misunderstood what they meant. I didn't mean to spread the wrong information. I understand that they are really proud of the engine and in fact I would love if they continue using the engine cause FFXV looks great, and further improving the engine I bet would easily challenge Unreal 4. I didn't mean to make fun of it or anything.
Nah, it's fine, don't worry about that at all. A lot of what I wrote wasn't directed towards one person anyways, it was more of just me going on about things like I often do.

I agree, it can easily challenge Unreal 4 and in many ways is already superior. The main thing that isn't convincing people is the current image quality of the game. However, that more has to do with the consoles not having as much power as the engine is running on, but they are still optimizing the game and so the IQ should clean up a bit more up to the release.

It's a lot smaller than I imagined it would be.
Its crazy that this whole invasion is all for that one small crystal.
That's also based on some assumptions. It may well be "the" crystal. But it also may well be "a" crystal.
It's not the crystal at all actually, or even a single crystal. It's actually just the Lucian ring.

It's glowing and floating though which shows how powerful it really is. I'm really curious as to what sort of magics this ring will hold, the royal magic is something we still know absolutely nothing about.

Here's a bigger image for you all to look at.

Awesome work as usual!

Ok, so it's not just me, lol. I thought that was a pretty cordial conversation. And if it wasn't, hell, I'd love to disagree with you sometime. You'd be a worthy opponent unlike the majority of the internet. Problem is, great minds often think alike so we keep on agreeing all the damn time. :p

Something I managed to miss from E3...

First interesting thing to note is the Flame Tongue, and the description depicting a weapon imbued with fire. This is our first confirmation of elemental weapons from classic games being in Final Fantasy XV which is really exciting! The implications of this also are that it's very possible that this could be an upgrade of another weapon as we know that weapons in this game can be enhanced not only with ability points to unlock new weapon skills, but also using materials found and obtained by killing enemies special or otherwise and creating new versions of existing weapons. It's possible, similar to in FFVIII, that you could create the Flame Tongue from another weapon (only this time it actually has fire).

From that we see beneath it different stats, a heart, flexing arm, upper half of a body, what might be a ring and finally a cane. These might be health, strength, defense, ring magic and normal magic. I'm actually not too confident on that being a ring, as it doesn't make too much sense, plus ring magic is shown before regular magic if it was ring magic, which would be strange in my opinion. I feel like this is something else, but I can't think of what it is... if any of you have any ideas, please let me know.

Below this we can see elements, also references on the left as Resistances which shows that this game does have individual resistances to four types of magics. We have Fire, Ice, Lightning and... ? some strange final magic?! I doubt it's Astral magic as why would you build resistance to Astrals...? It could be a Dark magic, it could be the more non-elemental magics, but why would it be purple and look like the Moon? I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you think it is.

Not only does this show a fourth magic tier, but it also shows that elemental resistance is a stat and can be influenced by your weapons.

As for the weapon categories, pretty much the same as always. We have swords, broadsword, spears, knives, shields, machine, royal arms, fire, ice, lightning, ? and ring. The ? is very interesting, as I don't really know what it could be, maybe misc, but I feel like they wouldn't have just a misc category.

Just imagine being able to take on high level hunts to get a mob drop to create a powerful sword, there's so many great possibilities. Also, in case you missed it, you can also craft different magics like Heal Fire (a fire spell that heals you while also doing regular fire damage) as well as Dualcast which the effects of are currently unknown. This takes combining items and possibly other magics together to form new types of magics.

Very exciting stuff, seeing the stat stuff especially with the new unknown magic is really hyping me up! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and what you think this stuff could be.

That ? element looks an awful lot like dark to me. They're generally dark purple. The moon and star evoke night.

I actually could have sworn I've seen that moon and star symbol being used for dark elemental in FF games before, so I thought I would quickly find an example in Google but I'm not seeing it. I've seen it somewhere though. Except it had the moon and I think a cluster of three stars.

Anyway, dark elemental ring magic maybe?

I don't know where it appeared in FF but this symbol was used as a general icon for spells in old Bioware games.

Moon is quite often used as a symbol of mysticism and magic so it may refer to a "generic" (non-elemental) kind of magic. Dark element is also a good guess. If not, then maybe it indicates resistence to status ailments?

If it was ring magic then it would have to be a stat exclusive to Noctis, which would be pretty weird. I also don't think it's magic defense, because that seems to be already covered by the resistences so it would be kinda redundant. Plus, if it was m. defence, it would be put after magic, not before. The icon could be an eye, which makes me think of accuracy but... it makes no sense in FFXV's action combat.

So I have no idea what it is but I'm pretty excited to find out. I'm also curious about the magic synthesis. I hope it offers enough different possibilities to give some additional depth to the combat.

Great find Leon. I would like to talk about the attire for a second. The attire section says Princes Battle dress(no jacket). I think we will be changing out characters attire a lot more than we previously thought. This makes me happy. I wasn't sure if we would only be getting different attire in specific parts of teh game without a choice of whether we want to or not or whether we could buy new clothes for our characters and it seems it's the latter thankfully.

I'm rather happy to see that as well. I've always enjoyed outfits change in games for it's aesthetics.

Hopefully there's a shirtless Noctis. Er.. I mean. Um, a different shirt for Noctis... Yea, thats what I meant. :)

I wonder if we will need to change into warmer clothes for cold climates or vice versa in warm climates or else we get debuffs or something. I think that would be really cool.

That would be a great feature and would make perfect sense for a fantasy based on reality. I'd like to see a bit of colour variation between outfits, too.

Didn't saw the video yet, but the customization is really interesting and seems to be fun.
Really have to watch it.^^
I think the 4th element is darkness, because Tabata said there one brand new magic spell, also the dark (plague of the stars/nights are getting longer) is important in the game.
Those buffs like fire, blizzard ect. gives me Dark/Demons Souls feeling^^

Yea, having outfits tied into the game like this would make for some interesting set ups. I like those details.

Also, this has reminded me that fall sports promotional shot of Gladiolus with an alternate style. I was never certain were it came from (well it says twitter) and the reason behind it. It's an old image, but I just became curious on it. ^^;;

Tabata made the e3 2013 trailer with someone else
https://twitter.com/RedMakuzawa/status/747913030944456704
Interesting I thought that Nomura directed it by himself.
Red probably took the translation from my tweet (wording is similar), which I'd clarified by saying that it was out of context and not very detailed. https://twitter.com/r_kane1/status/747851229338832897

Anyway, before further misunderstandings arise from that out-of-context information, let me summarize the latest Japanese blog post. I'll update this post again once the summary is complete.

Edit: looks like I screwed up big time, but I've ended up translating instead of summarizing, so I'll post here when it's done and will delete if SE provides an official translation. :D

***

Edit 2: Ended up translating instead of summarizing. Hidekazu Kato, person in charge of XV's camera work, is the one who did the editing for XV’s E3 2016 trailer. In the latest blog post, he explains a bit about his position on the XV team, his background in trailer editing, and then goes into how the Afrojack trailer came to be. This is part 1; the next part will explain how Kato and the production team created the trailer.

***
Hello, everyone. I'm Hidekazu Kato, editor of the recent E3 trailer.
Did you enjoy the "FINAL FANTASY XV feat. Afrojack" trailer?
I'll be giving you a behind-the-scene look at this trailer, which may be considered unique in the history of FF.
For those who haven't watched it yet, please do so and then read this blog post!

Introduction
First off, let me give a bit of background to those who are wondering, “Who the heck are you?”

I started off as an animator, then later on I did character rigging and cutscene layouts, and now I’m mainly in charge of XV’s camera.
I work on the layout of the camera direction and a part of the camera’s programming, and I also work extensively on enemy characters’ animations.

Sometimes I’m a camera layout man.
Sometimes I’m an animator.
And sometimes I'm a programmer.
And occasionally I'm a video editor guy.
So then how does that… work exactly?(^^;

Even if you bring me in to the authorities to question me, I wouldn’t be able to answer that. The fate of occasionally working on a video editor used internally by our team blessed me with the opportunity of working on trailer editing for the first time; in the winter I had the privilege of editing the Niflheim Base Battle Footage trailer.

Why a developer would work on trailer editing
“Why would a developer work on trailer editing in the first place?” is something that some people may be asking.

Often times an editing studio outside of the development department handles trailer production. This was the case for Uncovered. So why was the [Niflheim Base] battle footage and this [E3 2016] trailer handled internally? Because creating battle footage requires intimate cooperation and mobility with the development team.

The contents of the cutscenes’ core are decided beforehand, so handing over the materials and leaving the editing to an external department is fine, but for battles in the entire game, daily environment, specifications, and requirements change, so an external department isn’t caught up with all of those changes.
This applied to the E3 2013 trailer.

That vivid trailer with the battles against the Behemoth and the Iron Giant is a creation by Tabata-san, Momose-san from editing, as well as the development team. Tabata-san and I handled the battle footage on a one-to-one basis, and we worked together with the development team to complete the trailer.

Editors themselves understand the games’ specifications, and for a battle trailer, interacting with the development team first and then creating it is very important.

Development title: “Xtreme”
Now we get to the real topic.

Feeling relieved by the well-received battle footage––which was my first important official trailer editing task––I received a new video editing request from Tabata one day in February.

The requirement was, “A video that gets people’s adrenaline pumped up!!”

There was only a little bit of time to make it, so I immediately sprung up, got a working song, and from there I gathered up provisional materials from the Uncovered trailer. The trailer was done in 3 days.

That “Xtreme” trailer, as Tabata-san called it, was never released, but it was praised globally, so it was decided that we’d go with this route for E3 and that this trailer would serve as the prototype.

But who would’ve known that the real trailer would feature Afrojack, right?

***
There's still more, still translating. My attention span's waning, so I'll finish up the rest at a later time. lol
