I was thinking about the whole
Ardyn is a old king of Lucis of 2000 years ago
thing, and...

you guys probably remember the epic Versus XIII trailer from 2011, so there's a scene where king Regis is telling someone that he can't become king because Regis wanted to be recognized as the last king in history.

curious is that Nomura himself confirmed that he wasn't talking to Noctis, which means there's another heir to the throne.
Hm interesting, this could be still in, in the movie, I mean why is Ardyn takling to Regis??

It's explained in the English trailer from E3. Ardyn is Niflheim's ambassador. He's there to broker the terms of the peace treaty between Lucis and Niflheim. And from the look on Regis' face, Ardyn's reputation has preceded him.

I'm really excited about Ardyn, ever since he was first introduced. One of the best designs in this game, too. I hope he's got an important role (which I assume), whether he's ultimately good or evil.

I wonder if he's a fighter and if we ever get to fight him (or alongside him) and what kind of weapon he would use. He strikes me as a guy that would use magic and/or machines (considering he's the head of Niflheim's Army and it's based on technology).

Also, something some people have noticed in this pic:

Apart from the suit (different to the DLC one, it seems), he looks like he has a different hairstyle? It looks slicked back. I find it interesting, as I didn't expect something like this (outside of a potential timejump, which we honestly don't know if this pic represents: they look as young as before).

He seems to be wearing Regis' suit and styling his hair the same way as his fathers as well. I love it. I can't wait to see him from the front in the full game looking like this.

Ardyn's is talking to Regis because that's his job as a chancellor. Also, on the Kingsglaive website, it's mentioned that Ardyn and Iedolas worked together to form the ruse of the peace treaty.

Also, just to briefly mention these points that I think have no base (the supposed leaks)...
  • If Ardyn is a supposed 2,000 year old King, why does he have no resemblance to anyone of royalty, and why doesn't he carry himself in a way that is representative of someone who demands control? He steps on the throne not sits on it, he seems to defile its position in a way of a conqueror, not of someone who treats it with respect.
  • What exactly is the point of him wanting to take back the throne? What purpose could he possibly have? There doesn't seem to be any real apparent motive.
  • What does ruling over a city of peoples really do that he already doesn't have being a chancellor of Niflheim?
  • What exactly has allowed him to exist despite being 2,000 years old?
  • If his existence has to do with the plague of stars, what purpose would he have trying to retake the throne if the plague of stars would eventually destroy the entire planet anyways.
  • If his existence has something to do with the crystal then how is he already in existence and why doesn't he seem to care about the crystal.
Ultimately, nothing about this "leaked" information has any real thought or explanation, nor does it die into any of the existing plot points we already know. Honestly, it's completely baseless... I've thought quite a lot about its validity, and nothing adds up.

Replying to this separately from the other incase people decide to quote this they won't see what was in the spoiler tags in my previous post just in case.

His hair here looks different, but it actually looks like how it does in the Gamespot video as @Storm mentions as it appears to be raining. The thing is, there is the idea that when Noctis becomes King he would grow older, but the problem is people forget why the kings have grown old, it has to do with the crystal and the barrier around the city. If Noctis does take the rightful place as King, that doesn't mean he will suddenly age rapidly, the cost of keeping the barrier around the city up is what drains the life of the King, not simply inheriting the throne.

Regis was worried about Noctis becoming King because he doesn't want him to suffer the same fate, but that's under the impression that their lives would just carry out like normal, which is why Regis is likely eager for the peace treaty to go through, to secure the livelihood of his son and the next in line knowing that the barrier could be lifted from the Kingdom.

I believe that if Noctis does have a different hairstyle here, it might be simply done to emulate his father and a more regal look to represent him coming to terms with being a King and taking back the throne.

This is in response to only one of the spoilers posted there, as you say based on the fake spoilers from 4Chan.
You say it doesn['t make sense him seemingly not caring about the Crystal, or the fate of Eos. I should perhaps remind readers of a mysterious woman of Orience called Arecia Al-Rashia. She didn't care much about any of the crystals, or about the world. She only cared about her class, and their role in the grand plan she was in service to.

For anyone who is concerned that they have had the game ruined for them by the leaks (let's just pretend they're true for this exercise), here's why you shouldn't fret. I started a thread over a gfaqs for other people to join in on the fun. The goal, tell us the plot of your favorite Final Fantsy game in 3 sentences. It's both for fun and to demonstrate that the leaks tell almost nothing of the story anyway, and they all sound crazy when you try to condense them all down to a blip:

A star athlete gets sucked into the blowhole of a giant space whale. He gets transported to a whole new world so he can spend some time with a young suicidal woman. The space whale is his father.

Link at your own risk, it IS gamefaqs, lol. I just posted it, so I don't know what it'll have for replies by the time you click it.

Tabata: Okay, so have you seen the option mode yet? Where you can turn wait mode on and off? You’ve got an option there to turn UI off as well. There’ll be an option to turn everything off. Like if you were taking a screenshot. You can also turn them off individually. That’s new information! (laughing) I’ll be angry at you if you don’t get user comments on that.
Can turn off the QTE prompts maybe? That'd be huge for me.

Since most of the QTE are used for blocking purpose, a proper solution to this problem would be giving Noctis a proper block stance (that works with any kind of weapon he has equip at any time) which he lacks (he currently only has dodge, phasing and the closest he has to a proper block stance is provided only by the shield.

okay, but can we also turn single parts of the HUD, like turning only the QTE and the weapon-slots off?
I doub you will be able to turn off specific parts of the HUD. The turn off options seens to go torwards disabling the HUD completely.
This is what started this exchange:

Added bold the the relevant part. Open to interpretation, but reason to believe.

So I only found out about A Kings Tale today, the side scrolling 2D game where you play as King Regis. I missed it at E3. I wonder how long it will be? I kind of feel that I should play that first because it's set 30 years prior to the main game.

I believe it's a gamestop preorder exclusive. Gamestop and one other retailer. I forgot. I don't know that we'll all be able to play it.
