Dammit SE, stop teasing Insomnia!! Show it to me in the game!!!

https://twitter.com/RedMakuzawa/status/708601248002355201

This is interesting although I wonder if it really means anything significant...more Versus>XV changes?

Wait, in addition to the skull, is that a sword (instead of the trident!?) and thus Stella on the left??Definitely thinking changes...

Mysteries, mysteries..come on March 30th, hurry up!

It's clearly a trident in both pictures and Luna did not exist prior to the rebranding so I don't think this indicates changes or that either character is Stella.

I'm really hoping Luna finally gets the spotlight on the 30th, along with Gentiana. Luna's role in the story interests me the most so far. The Rinoa vibes I've been getting since Stella's days have been slowly disappearing completely since the last update we have of her background, so I've been super intrigued on where they're going to take her character.

I too am excited to see more of her. At this stage I hope she's at least as powerful as Stella seemed to be. It'll be a real bummer if they replaced Stella's warrior aspect with a more passive character in the typical priest role.

Official blog update for March 15, 2016: "Discovery of a cute animal" feature

Taji received Tabata's permission to show off a new "monster" (or more like cute, furry creature): http://mypage.member.jp.square-enix.com/album_img.php?f=1458038171200317_66e4_1.jpg&u=18

If you're wondering why there's a (trollish) picture of Tabata: there's a conversation going on between Taji and Tabata about what Taji's allowed to show and not allowed to show before Uncovered. If you're also wondering why Taji took a week off; he's been talking with people to gather some information and sneak previews about what Square Enix plan to show at Uncovered. If I read correctly, we can expect 3 more updates similar to this "sneak preview." That's why, if you noticed, he jumped from Level 3 to 5.

Translated not vetted nor necessarily 100% accurate, just the gist.

Oh, and an official report about the fan meeting on March 12 + an announcement of the next meeting are forthcoming. Stay tuned for Mittsu's update!

EDIT: Square Enix Europe have provided an official translation of the latest blog update. Check it out here!

Thanks for the heads up. Actually, it's the same animator who showed Taji the furry animal (Kawashima). It took him approximately 2 weeks to model the alligator (name TBA) from the time the artwork was designed. Taji says to prepare thoroughly before fighting this monster. lol

Taji says he's seen this monster before, and it turns out it's been featured a few times in PVs. I can't recall a time we've seen this before, so perhaps this is another "sneak peek" at what Uncovered will offer?

Lol, just remembered something (from last month):
KupoNut said:
On topic of the release date, Square's recently (On February 2nd) posted an ad for an Assistant Localisation Producer for FFXV (http://eu.square-enix.com/en/jobs/assistant-localisation-producer)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Localisation Production team, primarily working on providing support on FINAL FANTASY XV, as well as support on other on-going projects, as required. Coordinates all of the work undertaken by the SEE Localisation Specialists. Works alongside Localisation Producers on submissions and printed materials. To perform any other duties as directed by the Senior Localisation Manager. This position is initially on a temporary contract until 30 September 2016.
Maybe 30 September is a hint at FFXVs release date, a release around that time certainly seems possible

That trident honestly made me completely move on from Stella's warrior image with her rapier. There's a lot about Luna's character that makes me hope for more than the typical role you mentioned (right now my impression of her so far is like a more majestic version of Yuna's summoner role). Not sure if I should hope more with her being also a dragoon (her being the dragoon lady in secret was one of my hopes until Aranea's reveal) but those traits she has which has a strong connection to the class (the trident's relation with Leviathan, her name likely being a callback to FFIX's dragoon, Freya Crescent) would be a waste if they don't go for it in my opinion.

It reminds me a lot of FFXII's moogles, although I think it's unlikely it's really what they would want their moogles to look like when they've been going for the classic image for most of their creatures so far.

Unfortunately, Yuna is exactly the sort of thing I was talking about and that I'd like them to avoid with Luna. It's a role that women in mainline Final Fantasy games are relegated to far too often- a sort of priestess/summoner/magic user archetype. You have Aerith in VII, Garnet in IX, Yuna in X. To a lesser extent, Rinoa's Sorceress storyline makes her a decent fit as well. This is why Luna's position as an Oracle was a bit of a disappointment for me personally.

Mind you I don't care to speculate too much on Stella's role since we never got a really good idea of her character, I just preferred the direction it seemed to be going in. I'm not one of those "Oh Luna's weak" guys, I think that stance is ridiculous. I don't mind if Luna is highly magical, either. Heck, I'd prefer it; Noctis is highly magical as well. I'd hope though that she pulls it off in a way that doesn't make me think of so many modern Final Fantasy women before her. Your dragoon theory would be a fantastic way for that to be pulled off, maintaining a magical/physical balance in Luna that is present in Noctis. I'm also pleased that you seem to think the trident is directly linked to Leviathan as well! My working theory is that each summon may have a corresponding weapon that Noctis will end up collecting- or not.

As for the Moogles, I'd love a breath of fresh air for them and I think this cat/fox direction would be just perfect! It's already just adorable. And Koozek, you're crazy! Moogles are best when they're rabbits, man.

Regarding the weapon thing, there was this German interview last year where Tabata mentioned "legendary weapons" that you could collect and which have special powers. The one he talked about sounded very much like it could be Leviathan's, see:

- The party will be able to swim in certain situations. F.e. there's a section in regards to a legendary weapon in the game where you have to swim [Note: He thinks it was already shown in a trailer - maybe he means the Leviathan scene from the E3 trailer?]
- Those weapons are an important part. They're trying to achieve some cool technical stuff with them, like Noctis soaring up with (or materializing into?) a cloud of water particles in "spiritual form" and then slamming hard into the ground again in "physical form" when using a certain weapon

Here's the rest of the summary I translated once on GAF if anyone's interested:
- Versus XIII was long in development but nothing in the game really worked well together, nothing was ever final or solid.
- They also work with Avalanche Studios for the car's driving physics in addition to the tech needed for full-scale airship travelling (Avalanche is interested in using some of FFXV's tech, too).
- For Tabata a real-time battle system suits a modern, HD RPG the best, but they want to satisfy both fans of turn-based and action.
- Wants to move away from the overexaggerated, stylized way of depicting characters' emotion and interaction, more towards grounded, believable and human characters.
- See FFVIIR as a rival in a positive way and as a milestone, but not something they have to "beat".
- Collectable and upgradeable weapons.
- Camp will be upgradeable, too.
- Open-world and story-structure similar to Red Dead Redemption. The story progresses linearily, but every time you reach a new big open area, you can freely explore how you like. Some parts of the world might not be accessible at first for story reasons.
- ̶B̶̶i̶̶g̶̶ ̶̶a̶̶r̶̶e̶̶a̶̶s̶̶ ̶̶a̶̶p̶̶p̶̶a̶̶r̶̶e̶̶n̶̶t̶̶l̶̶y̶̶ ̶̶a̶̶r̶̶e̶̶ ̶̶s̶̶e̶̶p̶̶e̶̶r̶̶a̶̶t̶̶e̶̶,̶̶ ̶̶b̶̶i̶̶g̶̶ ̶̶"̶̶z̶̶o̶̶n̶̶e̶̶s̶̶"̶̶,̶̶ ̶̶n̶̶o̶̶t̶̶ ̶̶p̶̶a̶̶r̶̶t̶̶ ̶̶o̶̶f̶̶ ̶̶o̶̶n̶̶e̶̶ ̶̶s̶̶e̶̶a̶̶m̶̶l̶̶e̶̶s̶̶s̶̶ ̶̶h̶̶u̶̶g̶̶e̶̶ ̶̶m̶̶a̶̶p̶̶ ̶̶[̶̶N̶̶o̶̶t̶̶e̶̶:̶̶ ̶̶T̶̶h̶̶a̶̶t̶̶'̶̶s̶̶ ̶̶h̶̶o̶̶w̶̶ ̶̶I̶̶ ̶̶u̶̶n̶̶d̶̶e̶̶r̶̶s̶̶t̶̶o̶̶o̶̶d̶̶ ̶̶i̶̶t̶̶,̶̶ ̶̶a̶̶t̶̶ ̶̶l̶̶e̶̶a̶̶s̶̶t̶̶]̶̶.̶ EDIT: [Big areas are probably part of a seamless map, but are made accessible gradually (see FFXII, Xenoblade or Red Dead Redemption) - I assume that's what Tabata meant]
- There's no clear, single story theme/motive (like "Journey to the West" in Enslaved f.e.). It's more about universal, deeply human themes (friendship, bonds, loyalty, father-son-relationship etc.).
- No alternative endings. One satisfying ending.
- New-Game-Plus mode. Before you reach the final boss, you can decide to go back and finish remaining quests etc., as usual in FFs.
- WRPGs he likes are Oblivion, Skyrim and The Witcher 3. His all-time favorite RPG is Dragon Quest 3.
- Summons can't be leveled up. They are just asked to help, they don't take orders from you.
- The party will be able to swim in certain situations. F.e. there's a section in regards to a legendary weapon in the game where you have to swim [Note: He thinks it was already shown in a trailer - maybe he means the Leviathan scene from the E3 trailer?]

- Feedback about female Cid wasn't really surrprising and they appreciate the different feedback from all around the globe for her and the demo in general, which they will use in the polishing process to offer the possibly best game experience for worldwide audiences ("globalization-process").

It's funny that you should mention it Koozek because this translation of yours from GAF is actually what got me on this line of thought in the first place! I'm not always actively participating in XV conversations there because it's so easy to get lost in the crowd, but your posts are the first thing I look for when it comes to the small details that really matter to me. Like this legendary weapon stuff, it sounds so great! I can't wait to hunt those down. I have to agree with you, the ability Tabata described sounds DISTINCTLY Leviathan based on what we saw of her tearing up Accordo. Imagine if this turned out to be the case? The weapons from the various Astrals/Archaeans/summons/whatever would be so cool! We'd get control over some of the elements we're missing in elemancy with Titan and Leviathan's weapons- and water is already a confirmed element for the weapon you posted.

Please keep up posts like those, they're always fantastic.
