Played more of Bravely Second. In short, I like it, but it's not without flaws.
In long:
Overall, I think it's better than Default so far. The overall pace seems much smoother, Yew and Magnolia are fun in their own right and the control fixes (allowing for faster Brave-usage and better control of autobattle and encounters) make things more accessible. That being said, the new "streak" battles are a bit annoying since a major amount of whether you can get the maximum multiplicator relies a lot on luck. The German translation, unfortunately, suffers from a noticeable lack of editorial oversight. :/

I think the new streak battles have been good. It's more of a bonus and makes you try to output maximum damage in as few moves as possible to force the next battle. There is a little luck, like if the enemy happens to get an attack in first, the streak is ended, but since it's a bonus chance to get more EXP etc, I've not really been annoyed about it.

Yes, maximizing damage is a good choice, as is minimizing BP output (good choices for that: Swordmaster's "Multitasking" and "Counter" and the extra weapon equip skills from the Chariot class), but the longer the streak gets, the more reliant on BP boni you become. Though I do think it works better than what Default had.

I just finished my first quick playthrough of Fire Emblem: Awakening. I didn't expect the main plot to be so... flat. I guess its story's charm essentially relies on the relationship you see between the characters you control. Started a new game immediately to focus on that part more, because due to rushing I didn't get to explore the mechanic of building relationships between them properly.
Then you may find the post-game stuff severely lacking. Seriously, X/Y took it back to the days of Red and Blue where there's only like 1 thing to do once you beat the game. And besides, what few cool things they added in gen 6 are far outweighed by all the other crappy things they added (like the godawful skate/run/walk control scheme). And they ditched some of the best things about 5th gen, like the "gym leader's last Pokemon" music, and a storyline/characters that are actually, y'know, interesting. But whatever. Mini rant over. Gen 6 was the only generation I really disliked.
I've never been into post-game stuff too much really. I'm not a completionist by any means. I just want a fun game and to trade Pokemon with my friends, which Y is thus far delivering on.
Like I said, I haven't played a Pokemon game since Soul Silver and I only got six badges in it, so I'm not missing any features from Black and White or their sequels. I never really expected a deep, interesting plotline out of a Pokemon game, either.

I'm not either. Doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the lack of post-game content is a disappointing step backwards from other recent Pokemon games.
Of course nobody plays Pokemon for the story or anything, but if you had played the gen 5 games you would have realized that the story/characters/evil team in X/Y were all major regressions and felt incredibly lazy. And what I mean by that is they were pretty standard for Pokemon, but B/W was such a step forward that X/Y felt like whiplash. Gen 5 had genuinely cool and interesting characters like N and Hugh, but gen 6 just didn't.
B/W was supposed to be the pseudo-reboot to the series, but in my opinion that title belongs to X/Y.
But hey, if you like the game then more power to you. I couldn't like it though.
