Here's a few things i found interesting:

Sleeping/Leveling
Tabata: Also, not only by making camp and eating do you get positive effects, but you gain experience points through combat, right?

Host: Yes.

Tabata: By resting, those experience points get converted to levels. So camping is actually very important.
Host: I see. So, you gain levels by sleeping, which means if you don't sleep, your levels don't increase. So, this is an action RPG, so if players wanted to try to a low-level playthrough, all they have to do is not sleep.

Tabata: Yes. Players who don't want to increase their levels should avoid sleeping.
Magic
Host: (reading fan question) "You haven't shown much magic, but what's going on?"

Tabata: Magic has been delegated to the later stages of development. To be absolutely honest, there is a prototype of course, and the battle system has been made, and we'll be brushing up the graphics before releasing the final product. So for combat we make the basic system, brush up the graphics, and what we do next is add all the different actions that occur in battle, so at the moment, the magic looks kind of disappointing. That's why we haven't shown it yet.
Tabata: Also – I'm not sure if I can say this – in the world of XV, Noctis is the only one who can use magic.

Host: Yes.

Tabata: He's the only one with magic abilities. But as a game, having only Noctis be able to use magic doesn't really work, so we're implementing a rather unique system so that everyone in the party can use magic.

This is what i understando:
  • You don´t get EXP by sleeping but rather you stop gaining after not sleeping for "X" time.
  • Not sleeping for long period of time prevent you from gaining buffs
  • Eating and sleeping is needed if you want to get said buffs.
  • Another possible plot point of the game: Selective characters can use magic like Noctis,Regis,Stella(versusXIII trailers)

"Magic" seems very specific here... I consider the whole weapon summoner magic. Stella's sigil is also magic. But I guess he means like Firaga?

Basically, you accumulate EXP through battle, you camp and sleep and that accumulated EXP goes into leveling. You pretty much control when you level and camping becomes essential. You hunt monsters for ingredients or buy it like Monster Hunter and cook and get buffs during that, as well.

I want to know how they camp. Like I've never seen characters camp out before and if they show Ignis cooking, I'll die of happiness <3 . Mama Ignis working his magic for the party x3 . Which reminds me.. I'm not sure how I feel about Noctis being the only person to use magic in the world. What about Ignis? I thought he was suppose to be the mage in the group?

Based on translation does that mean sleeping/camping allows you to level up much the way praying did in Baten Kaitos?
This is from the actual interview rather than just summarized points:
Tabata: Yes, setting camp isn’t a mere cutscene, it’s a fundamental part of the game’s system. You can set up camp in a safe spot if it’s between midday and night. It’s an extremely important element in this title. First of all, it’s where you account for the experience you get while traveling. Experience points are calculated when you camp, and this is where you can level up.

Next, the buffs (temporary status improvements) come from eating during camp, and you sleep in order to maintain the buffs. If you maintain the buffs by sleeping before they run their span, you can obtain various additional effects. Besides that, you can continue to adventure without sleeping and use healing items to restore your HP to max, but camping also restores your health to max.

It works something like this: killing monsters give you EXP which you can accumulate over time.

Said EXP will fuel your "exp bar" only when you sleep if you dont sleep you bar will never fuel you exp will be store only. If that makes sense.
