So you'll never remember his events in VII or the X series? Or XII's sequel?
NOPE.
I searched that he's an event and scenario writer on the numbered game you mentioned. I could say he excelled in that position, which is the same as what Sakaguchi excelled in too. Maybe that's why Square Enix let Motomu direct a numbered FF game.

It was Kitase's decision I believe.
I'd bet. Seeing as how they've worked together in various FF games, before the advent of FFXIII. Also, I recalled in an interview wherein Kitase will just stick to being a producer, instead of taking the director role.

Yeah and Kitase being producer is great since it's meant he could work on various other games like KH1, KH2, Crisis Core, DoC etc. Rather than being like Nomura with a crazy amount.

Square-Enix needs more talent. Having the same guy take over the wheel again and again only works for so long. Hope to see someone new take over for XVI. The only exception wold be Ito.
