I see some possibilities: announcement at Jump Festa, end of the demo (it could be the 'surprise', although I'm expecting something like a summon/city/whatever) or E3 (or even TGS if prior to it they've only announced a release window).

Regarding the English version, yeah, I can see a trailer being released soon (even in Jump Festa. They could play it there in Japanese and then upload it in English too).

And well, I'm glad to hear this about the lenght, although it's the standard in the series. Now Tabata, just give the possibility of controlling Cor and I will forget this week ;)

I honestly think the character switching cries will be heard. I'm confident in that at least before the final game is out. :p

Pretty sure story. Side content depends on the player.

For example, he said if you only do the story in the demo, you'd complete it in an hour. But doing the side stuff makes it 3-4 hours.
Ok cool. But is there a sidequest given often or will we have to plow thru to near the end just to get sidequest in a repetitive pile just before the end? That can be bad too. In FF13 the only sidequests were basically non-voice boss or subboss battles. I want sidequest that feel like Tales games and how they did them in 7 thru 12 with voice work even in side quests and guilds to get jobs from or people to revisit to get weapons synthd.

Depends. So far we have a lot of the side stuff confirmed to do along the way while doing story. I prefer quality over quantity so I hope there's a variety and not too many fetch quests.

Yeah not fetch quests but sidequest to flush out the supporting cast and grant hidden bosses and dungeons and gear. Important sidequests with dialogue to it.

Good thing this game ISN'T XIII... Why are you worrying about sidequests, honestly?

Because sometimes I buy a game for 50$ and its over in a day. I want the epic FF story to last weeks. I always take my time with games and do as much as I can. But these days you can't even do that.

You know as well as I do, almost every mainline FF game takes about plenty of weeks to finish (maybe a month or two if you're taking your time).
On top of that, every mainline FF game has its fair share of challenge and plenty of that so that will increase your game time. Don't worry about anything that we don't know. Every numbered FF game breathes a different setting and concept work.
You're right. But things go wrong. I'm not sure why, maybe lack of budget, but even though I liked FF13 (not the sequels) there was a serious lack of things to do. It was always pushing you forward. You'd never really be able to slow down. Often times if you ran into something that made you pause in progression, it was a unfair boss. Then when sidequests happened it was more fights. Sure with Sazh you played Chocobo Hide and Seek. And Hope got to use the mech Dreadnaught. Good. But those were few and far in between. I hope they don't spend so much budget on graphics and battles system and epic dungeons that there's none left for the little extra things outside of combat. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE RPG BATTLES. And even though FFXV doesn't have the KH2 battle system or Advent Children scenes I wanted, it still looks fun and epic! But if there's nothing or not much to do outside of progress and get loot, I won't be able to extend the life of the game. No one else shares this fear? Even if it's not 13, it's having some similar problems.

@KOKAYI5 On the topic of Advent Children scenes, the system in place actually gives it a lot more fluidity in animation to do that and I wouldn't count that out yet. That's what the set pieces will be for and I doubt they're gone.

The rapid hit combo done mid-air mid warp in the 2013 E3 trailer seemed dead on! I loved that. Maybe it's all about what you have on. If I pick all short or long swords or spears he moves fast. But the berzerker swords and guns are likely slow and for the ends of combos rather that all thru one. But how would a fight play out if you wasted all your warp gauge and still had foes on the roofs or climbing down from the buildings? Shoot at them? Wait for them to come down? So many variables. It most have taken a freakin' genius to think up battle sets up most situations. And there's still team attacks. Insane.

Perfect length. Also, some interesting points about the demo and car:
- enemies can attack you while you're driving
- They camp along the way, stay at hotels, it adheres to the way the gameplay gives the sensation of going on a road trip.
- in order to obtain a strong weapon, you can venture into the dungeon that has monsters stronger than the ones above ground.

I love how these details are sounding!

No, I don't have this fear, and what do you mean similar problems?
All I mean is it takes a long time to come out, then people build the game up (me included) to heights that make it seem like it'll be an outstanding game (which I hope it will be!) but then due to budgets problems (like the ones not long ago Square ran into) they could drop ideas and stick to pure story-telling and battle. Which is what FF13 was mostly. But it'll be hard for 15 to mess up that much. But some of the problems are there. I hope the game isn't shortened or ideas dropped due to time and money problems, is all.

Final Fantasy XIV: ARR has a lot of additional (and relevant) content aside the main story and a lot of other things to do like treasure hunt, Chocobo breading, housing and even a Gould Saucer will come to the game.
I know, you can say that it's because of it's a mmorpg and it need to have a lot of things but the original FFXIV lack a lot of these things and they saw their faults and changed the vision about "additional content".

I think they know their mistakes from Final Fantasy XIII too (linearity included) and are working hard to fix it to the next installments of the series.
I don't think it will be "go from point A to B" like XIII was and probably the exploration in the demo will show that.

I played 14 for like 6-8 months. I liked what I saw. I'd love if they did a game with that level of exploration. True it's a online RPG but it had a lot good going for it in the ARR version. After I beat the main story and some of the post game stuff I didn't feel as fulfilled as with the main FFs but it left a lasting impression. I better FF15 will be better than that, but and not just rely on loot hunting once the games over or when you're not marching on with the story.

To me the best thing to come out of 13 were th3 fight cutscenes that dreadnaught mingame and perfect lip sync. If you take the best 13 had to offer you can still enjoy 13. But yeah 12 was better overall. It does need an hd redoing.
