I doubt it. if you look at it closely you´ll notice that HD versions are only made from PS2 games, not PSOne games. And since RE 1-3 were already released on PSN I am pretty certain that we will never see HD versions of those games - they are simply too old. Same goes for the PSOne FFs as well. I think because PS2 games were so much better looking than PSOne games its easier to make HD versions for them.

Ah, that's right. I always forget that the original Code Veronica wasn't on PSX. I first played it on the Dreamcast, which is probably why I get it confused... since I got a Dreamcast before a PS2. Weren't there some rumors floating around not long ago about a Re2 remake? I played the remake of RE1 on the GameCube but I always wished that was done for the second game. Not to say that I didn't love the original but 2 was just... amazing.

yeah the RE 2 remake is pretty much as wanted as the FF VII remake. but i dont think it will ever happen. you cant do RE anymore with those classic controls today and that means a remake would change the feel of the original anf fans will be pissed. also the RE 1 remake was a financial flop, while RE 4 - 6 were huge bestselling successes, so i doubt Capcom would do another remake anytime soon . even though the RE 1 remake was the greatest and most scary RE of all time.

yes ported from 3DS. But I thought the graphics were done really well. They look way better and sharper than on 3DS. Of course it doesnt look like RE 5 and 6 but its still better looking then RE 4 in my opinion.

I have been playing Mercenaries in RE 3 like crazy yesterday to unlock the bonus weapons/infinite ammo. For those who dont know the RE 3 version of Mercenaries - its vastly different from Mercenaries in RE 4-6 and is actually more like Raid mode in revelations or Battle mode in Code Veronica. You basically need to reach a certain point in raccoon City before the timer expires and killing enemies adds a few seconds to the timer. You dont find herbs or ammo and need to manage with what what you have. When you are killed, the timer expires or you actually make it to the target point you´ll be awarded a rank and a certain sum of money.

for 2000 dollars you can buy infinite ammo for the assault rifle

for 3000 dollars you can buy the Gatling gun with infinite ammo

for 4000 dollars you can buy the Rocket Launcher with infinite ammo

for 9999 dollars you can buy infinite ammo for all weapons

Its pretty tough. I make it close to the target point but never really are able to reach it before I die or the timer expires since I always run out of ammo and herbs in the end. So with every playthrough I manage to only get like 200 dollars. So its gonna take me a while to get 9999 haha. I currently have only about 1000 dollars.

At this point I would not expect RE1 Remake to make it to other consoles, as if I remember right they had GameCube-Looking devices in the game.
Oh, stuff like that can easily be removed/changed. Happens all the time in once-exclusive console games. The actual issue comes in just how exclusive the game is to Nintendo. We can probably assume it's still very much under contract with Nintendo, since the game was re-released for the Wii, as was RE Zero.

Under contract the same way Tales of Symphonia was?

Not really, if memory is right, Shinji Mikami was the one would wanted it to be Gamecube only game, and if what you said is right, we should be seeing MGS4 on consoles outside PS3 that has a Macbook, iPod, PSP, PS3 & DS3 all in the same game too. I don't think so as it still costs money to make that stuff happen and all that game is pre rendered backgrounds and look pretty awful, short of creating a new BG don't except Remake, and before some points out RE4, RE4 was ported to everything because it was popular.

Exactly. Was. It's very possible REmake and Zero are still under contract with Nintendo. But if that isn't the case, then there could be other reasons for it not coming to other consoles, e.g. via PSN. Perhaps indeed for respect for Nintendo, or simply because Capcom doesn't think it will make enough money to be worth it.

Yeah, I'm not saying anything different to what you're saying, here. Whilst MGS4 was likely one of those very much designed with PS3 in mind (and in turn making it a difficult game to get ported to other consoles), it would still cost to do. I'm not saying to expect a port of REmake/Zero on other platforms because of its poor sales, but I would say it would stand a better chance of being ported in the future than MGS4 would to another platform. Pre-rendered backgrounds wouldn't need to be changed; they still hold up gorgeously. I played it the other week, in fact. That's the beauty of pre-rendered - it will still make games that used it look great even today (FF9 in particular, holds up so damn well today).

Remake will be Nintendo-exclusive forever. Otherwise it would have been ported already with Chronicles and Revelations also having been ported. But Remake was really fully produced by Nintendo, they own the game.

I vehemently disagree about Remake looking awful today. Thats utter nonsense, the game still looks absolutely fantastic. The pre-rendered backgrounds are near photorealistic. I think the game still is one of the graphically most impressive games ever made and it most certainly is one of the greatest games of all time. Not to mention that the game has the most chilling and scary atmosphere I have ever seen in a game.

I'm not sure about Nintendo having produced REmake. I don't think they had any hand in development. It was developed by Capcom, published by Capcom, produced by Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi... I think the only possible reasons for it remaining exclusive to Nintendo would be: (1) It's written into a contract for either a very long time or forever; and (2) Capcom doesn't think it would make much money when compared to the time/cost in trying to get it running on PS3 etc. It's most likely the former point, in that the contract runs for a very long time/forever. Perhaps one day, we'll find out the contract has suddenly expired and it'll be ported onto PSN on PS4 or Vita or something. I don't think we can know how long it lasts for unless someone asks Capcom itself (why hasn't anyone asked this already?).

But yeah, quite probably the best-looking PS2/GC/Xbox gen game. And for that reason, still one of the best-looking games there is. What I wouldn't give to see it re-released today with HD character models.

PS4 wont have PSN, it will have a completely new network called Playstation World. All of your PSN content cant be used on PS4. So you´d better hold on to your PS3 ;)

Remake was part of an agreement to produce 3 Nintendo-exclusive REs. The first two being Remake and Zero and the 3rd was initially going to be RE 4. However RE 4 got ported later to PS2 (and much later also PS3 and 360) which violated that agreement and caused heavy friction between Capcom and Nintendo. This plus the lack of success with the Nintendo-exclusive games led to Capcom returning to Sony (and Microsoft) for future main installments in the series.

Revelations was produced as (initially) 3DS-exclusive to make up for the non-exclusivity of RE 4 for NIntendo. Nintendo later agreed with Capcom to port Revelations to other consoles as well after it had been Nintendo-exclusive for a year.

You are right, Capcom developed and published Remake so I was wrong about that. But remake and Zero were made as part of an exclusive agreement. Nintendo already got majorly pissed when Capcom violated that agreement for RE 4 so I dont think Capcom will do that again by porting Remake and Zero and practically shitting on the entire agreement they made with Nintendo.

About the enduring quality of the game, here are some of the critics reactions in recent years to Remake:

""one of the most visually stunning games ever conceived."

-Playstation Universe (2009)

"The best zombie game ever"

-Complex (2011)

"this game was, and still is, absolutely stunning" and "the quality is such that I'd say it's still a match for the modern sequels being produced today. Its the game that set the bar for every other game to come"

-IGN (2012)

Nuff said ;)

I'm pretty sure it'll be referred to as PSN on PS4, as well, just as it is on PS3 and Vita - it's just the online network. When I say I'd like to see it on PSN for PS4 and Vita, I mean just that - that I'd like to see it on PS4's online network. I know about PS3 digital games not being playable on PS4, but the network will still be known by the same name.

I do think there's a possibility of showing respect to Nintendo for not porting REmake and Zero, too. Even though it's most likely because of a contract they can't break, it could well be that they are showing some respect by at least letting those games remain exclusive.

Anyone play the first person shooter spinoff that used that gun accesesory? Resident Evil: Dead Aim I think. I'd love to play Resident Evil 4 and up now, back then I was too much of a scaredy cat to even watch a friend play it. (I hid under a blanket)

yeah Dead Aim was basically a lightgun shooter version of RE 1. wasnt very well received though.

I´d definitely recommend for you to get RE 1-3 and Code Veronica from Playstation Store as well (You can get RE 2 and 3 for 5.99 each, RE 1 for 9.99 and CV for 14.99 I think)

if you can get RE 5 and/or 6 we can play them through together in online co-op if you like. I´m always up for that :)

Oh god, I was the same haha. Granted, I was just a kid, but I remember playing the RE2 demo and crapping myself on every single screen. I would walk so slowly and stop every time I heard the slightest movement or groan sound. I was like that in so many games, though (Tomb Raider 2 and those damn tigers in the first fricking level!), but RE2 was something else entirely lol.

I remember being completely fascinated and tense at the same time when playing RE 2 (which was also the first RE I ever played because in school everybody always kept talking about it), since obviously I had never played anything like it.

I remember when I was in the police station my mother was so freaked out by the sounds of the halls and zombies that she came into my room and asked me "What the hell are you playing there, its freaking me out" and I was like "Alriiiiiight. Mother is freaked out, this game is awesome" :)
