I am just blown away at the visuals of both the technical and artistic aspects of this film. I notice a lot of people keep saying that the character designs are much better in this film than in the game but I really love them both. Luna is a lot different than her in game model but I don't have a problem with it at all. I love her dress a whole lot. Dat warp strike behemoth throat cut was sexy as hell. There was a part where several of the Kingsglaive members were lined up next to each other with their hands up in the air while a huge spiraling storm cloud formed in the sky which makes me think they are summoning something to help them fight the oncoming Niflheim airships. I really can't wait for this film.

Hmm... Well, I wouldn't call cutting something's throat sexy, but it's certainly stylish and shocking. I'm most looking forward to seeing how Nyx and Lunafreya interact. They seem to have some connection in the film.

This movie intrigues me to no end.

By far the biggest question mark left is the story, or more specifically, how well it's told. It's and interesting enough premise, and they've said a lot of the right things, so I'm pretty optimistic all-around, but this is the biggest upcoming test for me. This movie will give us 110 minutes of what the story is really about. It LOOKS great, but is it going to have a coherent plot? Will the motivations match the actions?

Ugh, is it just September 30th yet?

I was using sexy as slang not using it literally. I wonder if Drautos is related to Gladio at all. All the characters that have been revealed have last names except him so I wonder if he is a member of the Amicitia family but Square doesn't want that spoiled or something.

That's a thought. Maybe his father. Can't be older brother as Gladio is confirmed as the oldest son of the house, and Drautos looks too old to qualify for a younger brother.

But the thing I've been thinking recently is... Maybe one of the Kingsglaive will be a traitor, helping Niflheim orchestrate the invasion. A little cliche, but it's still effective as a plot device. Don't think it's Crowe, and it's certainly not Nyx. Still leaves three or four members to consider.

Over the years I have speculated that there was a traitor at the peace treaty signing and the guy with the beard and long hair behind Regis is who I suspected to be the perpetrator. I talking about the CG cutscenes from a lot of the trailers for Versus and XV. I don't think that character exists anymore but maybe a new character plays that role in Kingsglaive. I mean how else could Nifleheim infiltrate the magic energy barrier into Insomnia unless they had help?.

The barrier is up to keep the forces out, but when Niflheim comes in for the purposes of the treaty, the barriers are dropped for the sake of peace, that's how.

No the invasion from the airships was after it was lowered. No way they would allow those into insomnia even for a peace treaty.

Wait why, spirits within bombed because it had nothing to do with final fantasy and this does, did advent children bomb?
The movie can't really bomb honestly because while it's targeted to a wider audience than just the game, it's not getting a theatrical release. Plus, with a story that doesn't need any outside context (like Advent Children which was purely for FFVII fans) it should even gain the attention of people who haven't played XV.

That being said, this movie will almost exclusively be viewed by gamers and Final Fantasy fans only, which isn't surprising, it's just another reason why the movie really can't "bomb" per-say.

As for if AC bombed, no, it didn't. Some people don't like AC because of the script and other things, but honestly it was really just meant for FFVII fans to enjoy and originally the project wasn't even going to be a film in the original conception. It's purely an action film for fans of VII and I think it does it very well. Even the small character arc that Cloud goes through during the movie was enjoyable seeing him reflect on his past mistakes and where he failed to save others and being able to save Tifa last minute was something I really enjoyed watching.

I think the movie will do fairly well and that people will enjoy it, but it's not going to be the next big movie of course... it's not trying to be though.

I was referring to it failing in the critical reception.

I just thought it would be clear, since the movie won't have a theatrical release. Anyway, just a thought I had.
I figured that's what you meant, I didn't emphasize enough on that the script is more refined and forgot to mention they have writers and other people that work in Hollywood on projects including GoT among others helping with the movie. I feel like with the audience that it's targeting it will do pretty well, just nothing that's a must see.

Don't forget things like netflix down the line, too. Between the entire FFXV fanbase, people on the fence about FFXV and a potential second life on netflix/hulu et al, this is about as bomb-proof as a straight to digital movie can get. Also include that while it LOOKS expensive, it appears to have been paid for by the CGI budget and Audi (and others) and if the animation was done in-house, it's probably a hell of a lot less expensive than people are thinking. Honestly, as a fan of good business, this was a great idea on their part.
