Like I said. I'm not really worried.

There seems to be this act of redemption going on with Square Enix right now and they're trying to make a strong comeback. You really think a guy like Toriyama fits with that plan? Personally, I don't. He's part of the reason why some people were completely turned off with Final Fantasy and the company in general last generation. They're trying to erase that way of consumer thinking. The impression I have currently is that they're not fucking around.

Toriyama seems better suited for mobile gaming the more I think about it. Nobody really seems to care all too much about high standards in that market so it could be quite the breather and a bit more relaxing for him. He could actually raise the bar a notch, even though I don't think that's really saying much. He can have all the creative freedom he wants and make that Lightning dating simulator he probably dreams about. It's perfect! ;)

Yes, the people who have directed & produced more Final Fantasy games than anyone else are only doing mobile games. Lol.

It's not like Toriyama was the only reason why three games about XIII were made, let's be honest. I don't really have an opinion about the three games, usually I'm very lenient with my criticisms on games, but I do agree that it was too much and many people do not like the games.

That said, Toriyama is not the only person behind the game, there is an entire staff of developers that work on these games as well. I don't think it's fair to put all blame on Toriyama.

When you look back at his past titles, you can see a lot of successful games are under his belt. I think the idea moving forward is definitely to show Square Enix still has what it takes to make great games, that doesn't mean putting Toriyama out of the picture though... He can easily prove to work on an amazing project.

You always like to play the numbers card with Kitase and Toriyama and yet completely ignore how many titles Sakaguchi has directed and produced and how one bad project, one bad decision, cost him his job. Extreme example? Perhaps. But with all the restructuring going on, I don't really think it's safe to assume that the duo you continuously cheer for are protected from anything or will forever be stuck in a particular spot.

I don't really put too much value into the quantity of titles those two guys have been behind. That doesn't really tell me anything about the more important details like the quality of work for example. What's the public perception of the project they produced or areas they were responsible for? Are they consistent and not doing anything that is hurting one of the company's most valuable IPs? Are they on the rise or on the decline? How about work experience?

You know... Stuff that I would think actually matters. Oooh! They made (x) number of titles! Meh...

And all jokes aside, I don't see anything wrong with Toriyama just making mobile games from now on. A lot of big name designers in Japan are making mobile games. It's not a big deal. Well, it's a big deal to traditionalists who hate mobile gaming and are unable to comprehend and accept the harsh reality of things but whatever.

I've personally got nothing wrong with mobile games, I'm excited for Mobius.

According to the latest Active Time Report, Final Fantasy XV will only be appearing at E3 2015 with a short trailer.
Are you sure? According to various game sites I've read, FFXV on't appear on E3 at all. I haven't watched the Active Time Report, so I relied on the news from game sites. But if your sources are right, then I'd prefer something (like a trailer) than nothing. Also, hope the trailer will take us to new places this time around.

Yeah, they clearly say so in it.

They said they would do a short trailer, any news site that says it won't be at E3 is trying to get attention with misleading articles.

You know... I just realized something.

Tetsuya Takahashi from Monolith Soft is the general director of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Koh Kojima is the director.

What's the difference between "general director" and "director" then?

I ask because the project lead for Mobius Final Fantasy has been announced (Naoki Hamaguchi) but apparently the director hasn't.

Every company out there operates differently. So over at Square Enix, I wonder if project lead and director mean the same thing or if they are two different things?

Hmm...

Tokita is the general director of his game.

It would make zero sense to announce a name as big as Toriyama as the director when it comes out, and again Toriyama clearly said he's game would be revealed in 2015. And he said this after Mobius was revealed. Also, Toriyama is known to direct two games at once. Haha.
