I mean, I prefer the look he had in the anime because the fedora outfit isn't really befitting of an ancient healer, it just kind of throws a wrench in the works because they used the concept art in the Episode Ignis flashbacks like it was canon or something. But it probably wasn't meant to be taken as fact, history was obscured a lot in Eos, like the cosmogony.

And as for the healing thing, I can guess that after Ardyn, Bahamut advised the Oracles not to absorb the scourge, or maybe they fine-tuned the method to avoid another incident like that. Ardyn could've basically just been beta testing for all of the Oracles that came after him.

Sure the artwork is used in Ep Ignis v2, though the more easier explanation is that Naora hadn't designed his 2000 years ago look yet so they just used the concept art they had lying around.

That was the more logical route. I feel like this demonstrated how out of touch the developers are with the player base.

I wanted to get Ardyn's outfit myself, as I liked Ardyn's design, and as well as his outfit, and Somnus' outfit doesn't look as interesting to me, but that's just me, as I'm an Ardyn fan, as well. It's my opinion, though, but I can see why others would want a Somnus' outfit.

Probably in the same place as Somnus outfit demand, still, what exactly is the correlation between the devs (not) giving a (Somnus) costume and them being out of touch with the player base?

I just remembered in my first playthrough, when I was getting Ardyn to his car, he got stuck bewtween two NPCs, and I had to reload, quite hilarious when I think about about it now if I recall it all correctly.

Giving Noct a Somnus costume makes more sense as he is Somnus’ descendant, Somnus was based on Noctis according to the devs, and the costume is original and fresh.

Whatever else one might say about him, Bahamut certainly cuts an impressive figure! Can you imagine what it would have been like to see a summon like that back in the heyday of CG cutscenes? XD

the point is that since this is Ardyns EP, the reward should be related to him following the logic of previous dlcs.

but we all know they could have done 2 rewards if they wanted.

One of the datalogs in the main game say that most of the Divine Messengers were killed in a stand-off with Naglfar during the early days of Lucis (presumably after the Astral War). In Episode Ardyn, Verstael's notes say that most of the Divine Messengers were killed in the Astral War because they sided with Ifrit (this is the JP version; the EN version changed this to say that only Ifrit's own messengers sided with him and died). Some Japanese players have speculated on 2ch that this is actually a hint to something bigger in Dawn of the Future, because it doesn't make sense for the other messengers to rebel against their masters and side with Ifrit. By the time the events of XV take place, there are only like 3 or 4 messengers left, if the other 20 were slain for siding with Ifrit that makes the Astrals even more suspicious imo.

So I'm wondering if this alludes to Ifrit basically being screwed over by Bahamut in a similar way to how Somnus screwed over Ardyn. Did Bahamut manipulate the people of Solheim so they'd turn on Ifrit? Was Bahamut jealous of Ifrit being worshipped by Solheim, and so he wanted to see it destroyed so he could replace it with his own Kingdom, Lucis? Bahamut is the God of War in XV, I could see him being the one who actually started the Astral War and not Ifrit.

So many good ideas, I personally doubt DotF would touch on the Divine Messengers, but that would be amazing. I wish they explained more about them in the game, but I'm happy with all the screen time Gentiana received, she was a great character. I love the idea of Bahamut being jealous of Ifrit, alluding to Ardyn and Somnus.

I think given that there is 24 messengers it's more likely each Astral had 4 messengers serving under them.

It also says in the datalog the tale of Nalfgar killing the messengers is told in the lost pages of cosmogony, in the japanese version they used another word, pseudepigrapha, which means falsely attributed works. So it might not even be legit.

in general some datalogs shouldnt be taken as absolute true, also Verstael researchd could be wrong. The Mystic datalog is biased to paint him as a noble king who travelled with the oracle...

about Bahamut igniting the war, its totally possible.

It's actually much smaller than the Royal Edition.
