You underestimate just how important graphical presentation is for some gamers, even for console players.

Seeing as there are, quite literally, entire threads with over a hundred pages dedicated to the bush near the ad sign that you see at the beginning of the game discussing why it looks "like a ps2 game", people do care about graphics.

I'm not one of those people since fun factor is the most important thing for me, but my goodness the amount of bitching and complaining because the graphics weren't sharp and detailed was staggering.
Of course don't have it look like a PS2 game, but don't prioritize graphics over everything else then maybe, they could have made a decent Leviathan fight.

I asked to the dev team to not allow the game to be made by committee and vet all the feedback they receive. Seriously, some of the demands in this thread even are ridiculous. The Levi fight for example. You need let that one go. The E3 trailer was a hoax. It was all pre-rendered magical bullshit with a menu slapped on corner of the screen to trick consumers. I doubt they ever would have delivered that spectacle of a fight unless the game was even further delayed for who knows how long.
I will never let it go, you wanna trick consumers fine, but then don' expect them to let it go, when they feel understandably jipped, now if they had made the Leviathan fight you know not a glorified cutscene, then yeah I would totally let it go, a bit disappointed, but I'd let it go, but as it stands oh hell naw.

You may have not noticed, but you've been repeating yourself a lot. Imo, you are starting to do self harm to yourself. You probably do have some merit complaints, but trying to force those complaints onto another person may lead that individual to listen to you less and less. Yes, the same would be true for the person that would be the radical opposite of you when it comes to the situation.

Nah I'm fine man, Final Fantasy Versus XIII was just what got me into Final Fantasy and when I saw that 2013 and some of those 2014 trailer I got hyped, and the end result feels bad man my heart won't let go anymore, I tried, oh man if KH3, and the FF7 Remake are as disappointing I'm done with Square honestly. If Final Fantasy Versus XV isn't announced, and Final Fantasy XVI is the same way? Oh boy I'm done with Square no Kingdom Hearts 4(Started out with Kingdom Hearts btw), no Final Fantasy VI Remake, no Final Fantasy VIII Remake, not even an IX Remake, I'm just done with Square. Oh and if a Versus XV is just as disappointing Nomura and Square are dead to me.

man, not even in my most fanboyish Versus days i was so dramatic as llazy and hey everyone, i mean damn o_O
If Versus XIII came out and disappointed Nomura and Square would be dead to me to. I'll admit though part of my disappointment in Square comes from that barebones PC Port of Type-0 HD

No 60FPS?
No 4K?
No 21:9?
Also no it being a PSP game isn't an excuse, a Metal Gear game(can't remember) was locked on PSP yet got a 60FPS PS3 release.

Then don't show it, like is any real proof that it was impractical and couldn't be done on those weak consoles?, because the only thing we got is that one leaker who said the engine didn't do well with console limitations not the fight was impossible I mean hell if they needed to downgrade the graphics then fine just make it work, release it on PC later with all those graphics turned up and let the mod boys handle the rest but fine then if you can't do the E3 2013 Trailer Leviathan fight make it good not this SSJ Noctis BS that practically made you invincible damn litterally hold O to win. Also probably the reason UE4 wasn't used for anything like the Leviathan fight was because no one has made a game that had a warp striking badass mofo, fighting a giant sea serpent.
To heck with leakers. I don't put any stock in anything they say.

The proof that it's impractical is all in the E3 trailer. The camera angles are cool looking but not ideal for actually playing. The indoor sections would have required a ton of assets that wouldn't be used elsewhere. The outdoor set pieces relied on a climbing system that wouldn't have been feasible to implement on a cost/benefit level. And the trailer still didn't bother to show how Noct would actually fight Leviathan -- it just showed him looking up at her from a platform and the water.

In other words, console limitations aren't the primary limiting factor in the first place. The biggest restriction is the need for developers create incredibly complicated systems that wouldn't be used consistently through the rest of the game.

And that's not something modders could go in and fix the way they can redo textures. If the game isn't designed to support climbing from the ground up, adding it on later isn't a task to be taken lightly.

Then they could have made the Leviathan fight good, an actual boss fight not a SSJ Invincible Noctis vs Leviathan fight, they should have improved the 2013 trailer not gutted it if they had no idea on how to make Leviathan work as a boss for FFXV or better remove her entirely and replace it with something much better to compensate and instead make it a hold O then you win fight.

JUST SO PEOPLE UNDERSTAND IF THEY COULDN'T MAKE THE FIGHT LIKE THE E3 2013 TRAILER FINE, AT LEAST THEN MAKE IT GOOD, JUST MAKE IT GOOD, JUST MAKE A GOOD EPIC, SPECTACLE BOSS FIGHT THAT'S ENGAGING THAT'S CHALLENGING, THAT OVERALL MORE FUN, NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE JUST BEEN A CUTSCENE, THAT IS ALL. MAKE IT EPIC, AND ENGAGING.

They couldn't have cut the Leviathan fight from 2013 because there was no Leviathan fight in 2013. =P

It's pretty clear that they realized after trying to implement the fight that there was no way to make Noct winning look reasonable within the normal battle system. Hence, the super mode.

And, if the idea was for Noct to be superpowered, it'd be weird if he lost, hence the inability to lose.

The fight probably shouldn't have been as long as it was, but trying to make a curb stomp fight playable instead of limiting it to a cutscene isn't unreasonable.

Maybe the best way to go about it would be to make the first section require you to survive for a certain amount of time?

Gonna be straight up honest with you, you're probably the very first legit Versus XIII fan I've ever seen behave in humanly empathetic manner. I commend you.
Forgetting me? xD;

The fight itself should have just been a cutscene, the fight itself shouldn't have been a curbstomp battle to begin with that doesn't make it good, if anything it makes it look even worse. The fight should have just been regular Noctis vs Leviathan, then have him go into SSJ Noctis have it be after like after the player knocks Leviathan's health down until it reaches 1/100th of what it was have the cutscene were Leviathan knocks out Noctis, then have the SSJ Noctis thing be a singular QTE that is earned after a good fight with difficulty to it. That Leviathan as it is was pure trash, that didn't need to be playable, and if they couldn't do it right, should have been removed from the game entirely script, and all, and replaced with something better.

I could care less if it was Nomura or Tabata in fact if Nomura was still at the helm of FFXV, and it came out like this, I would probably go into full on roast mode of both Square and probably Nomura. In fact it would make me fear for Kingdom Hearts 3. In fact If FFXV and KH3 under Nomura left me as disappointed as I am with FFXV on release. I would probably throw away anything KH related and FF related in my vicinity, you could be Kingdom Hearts 2 FM(one of my favorite games of all time), Final Fantasy VII(Another one of my favorite games of all time), or Crisis Core(Another one of my favorite games of all time) Your getting smashed with a baseball bat, and lit on fire. I would then proceed to take down any merchandise I have about FF or Kingdom Hearts, and proceed to rip up posters, and light them fire obviously, then the ashy remains will be dumped into a garbage can which I will proceed to beat with a baseball bat, run through with a chainsaw, and light on fire. Then I will take to my computer open up the case, take out the hard drive, and smash it until there is nothing left, but a metallic disk and circuitry. Then I will take my Xbox 360 run it through with a chainsaw obviously hit it's remains with a baseball bat and light it on fire, then I will take my PS3 and do likewise with an addition to running it over with a car forward, then backwards to make sure I finished the job. Then I would take the ashy remains of all that I have destroyed and slash it with a chainsaw about as many times it takes for Cloud to finish his Omnislash take it to a land fill, and mush it all up with a baseball bat. Then I would proceed to make the biggest Square diss track, then proceed to delete all accounts related to FF or KH, and move on with my life with a gaping hole in my heart.

A little dramatic well,
, but it's not that much fun to write about if you can't spice it up a bit.

EDIT: I forgot to add the part where I was going to piss on the fire to put it out.

I'm pretty sure a decent amount of people complained about FFXIII feeling more like a movie and less like a game due to cutscenes and cgi content. I can't agree with you on this one. I am completely fine with the fight approach being taken, even though some of it was scripted. There aren't that many unique boss fights in FFXV mind you.

What a troll lol.

as much as i agree that the fight could be a lot better, i still would have wanted them to do it so they can get the know-how to do better things in the future.

FF is only beginning now to incorporate playable segments that in the past would only be cutscenes, the leviathan fight and adamantoise was average in terms of mechanics and camera but amazing visual-wise; but to learn you need to try first, so let's see how they'll improve these segments in the next titles.

I agree. As technology improves, those same fights could end up being more dynamic as well.
