I just wonder how much extended preview EDGE got, how much chapters? 8? 10? 12? Seems like they already reached "linear" second half.
So apparently FFXVEN twitts not really reassuring at all.
This isn't really a factor, though. For anyone. It actually kind of annoys me when people keep pointing to that because it's basically dismissing anyone who had any criticisms about the article itself. Edit: Or the people concerned about the individual topics that were brought up.

i find it funny how many are surprised about the stealth segment, i mean stealth is part of the game even on the open world part... you literally can infiltrate bases.

Yeah its really interesting because it can be two different scenarios. EDGE haven't seen half of the game and EDGE only haven't seen last chapter with final boss and ending, lol.

Realize this article is a print publication. For all we know, the magazine lead times could mean the preview a vertical slice from a 1-2 month old build.
That's safe to assume. It should be relatively glitch-free and close to the final version. It's good that the magazine didn't have too much issue with the game apart from the camera, of which I think is here to stay.
EDIT: I'm a worm now, no longer a weasel. I should be a snake.

Yep, it could literally be the "beginning" of the second half and they technically wouldn't have lied to us lol. Or it could be the ending and we are just missing the final parts, who knows.
All I know is, this makes me more hyped. We literally can't predict a single thing, that shows that either the story is that good or that square is just mega awesome and preventing any sort of story beat leaks from happening
How do you assume that? Both EDGE and FFXVEN twitter didn't clarified how much chapters they played. BUT since they already entered linear path i can assume 10 or even 12, thats quite enough actually to make a conclusion about the game. And seems like they won't clarify that part, and we will spend in the dark last 20 days
I mean, they started to show Old Noctis as if he is a significant character in the game, which leads me to believe its not just the conclusion play him as. Its all possible. Say they head to Altissia in Chapter 6, the train section could be chapter 7-8. Timeskip could be chapter 9 or so. If they reclaim the throne by chapter 11, it is then possible to have more game.We have no idea how long chapters become towards the middle/end of the game. They may spread out immensely, they may shorten, we have no idea. BUT, Square definitely isn't showing certain information pertaining to the plot and the world. Literally other games in the series have done this. They lead you to believe that Zanarkand would be the end of the game in FFX, yet there was at least 5-10 more hours of story depending on how long you played it out.
The same happened in 4,6, 7 and 8. Where certain story beats make you believe the game is ending 30 hours in and then all of a sudden shit happens and you are playing for another 20 because you realize the antagonist wasn't the real antagonist all along. Its the one theme that is recurring in almost EVERY game. I don't think Insomnia is the end at this point.

I didn't read the article, only everyone's thoughts on it. Did they specifically mention the time skip? Because if they did, it hasn't been quoted by others yet. The mentioned something that sounds like it could be referring to the time skip, but that may or may not be the same thing.
