That countdown timer is depressing, lol.

Anyway,

I think it's best to not assume that the timeskip as the marker for the halfway point of the game. It looks like the bulk of the game is with young Noctis and the timeskip is something that happens near the end. The old rumors about him being put to sleep for 10 years or whatever are looking likely.
The 4chan leaker said Noctis sleeps and theres a 10 year timeskip, yet Tabata said the game takes place over 10 years and Noctis gradually ages throughout the game. Also not only is sleeping for 10 years to gain power a stupid plot point which I think the games writing will be much better than, the leaker said Noctis sleeps to put power in his ring, look at Noctis' hand in Chapter 0 theres no ring.

Eh. I think the most likely scenario is the time skip happening is during the scenario with Noctis being trapped in the Crystal which was shown in the TGS trailer.

The 10 year sleep plotline 'leak' sounds too incredibly retarded to take seriously.

"THE NEW INSTALLMENT OF Final Fantasy XV opens with a glimpse back at where it all began.

The latest demo features the beginning of the full game, which arrives November 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A brief flash-foward scene shows older versions of the game’s protagonists battling an unidentified enemy in a burning throne room. Then the screen goes black. Two paragraphs of text appear. I expected a typical loading screen providing gameplay tips. But the text felt familiar. The first paragraph prophesied a war between dark and light. The second told of four heroes embarking on a quest. And then it hit me. This is a blue screen.

That would be the Blue Screen of Text that appeared at the start of the first three Final Fantasy games on the NES. Rather than opening with a customary title screen, the series traditionally opened with a tight bit of story that set the scene for what was to come, usually ending with a reference to the warriors that the player would take charge of.

The series abandoned this in favor of a show-don’t-tell approach. Final Fantasy XV updates the idea. The screen is black, the text didn’t slowly roll in, and it didn’t feature the usual music. But longtime fans of the game know what developer Square Enix was going for.

Final Fantasy XV wasn’t done aping the opening of the game’s first chapter. The opening scene placed me in what looked like the flash-forward’s throne room, occupied by a king who is the father of the main character Noctis. He charges our Noctis and his buddies with a royal quest: deliver Noctis to his nuptials in a neighboring kingdom.

This is the classic RPG opener, used in Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Ultima, King’s Quest, and any number of others. It’s fallen out of favor, so Square Enix’s use of the “king’s errand” represents a clear intent to return to the origin of role-playing games and make Final Fantasy as culturally relevant today as it was then."

Food for thought -- the original Versus concept trailers showed Noctis asleep on the throne (heh) before he starts butchering Niflheim soldiers. Then he goes back to sleep.

I feel like you go out of your way to miss points.

Here's what we do know: that's young Noctis with all of the weapons. Not half of the weapons. Pretty much all of them except for his dad's, which appears to be what he's going to collect.

This suggests the time skip is not gradual. Tabata didn't say it was gradual. He just said it takes place over 10 years. It also strongly suggests it's not happening in the middle of the game, as they are already in the train with Noctis still in his young form.

It takes some serious mental gymnastics to deny that aspect of the leak right now. Serious gymnastics. You wanna float some other possible explanation, go for it, but you can't just deny what's in front of you because you don't want it to be true.

IGN japan interview about the car

http://jp.ign.com/m/final-fantasy-xv/7517/interview/ff15

don't know if there's something new, translation required.
What is exactly wrong with using the Google translation ? It is never wrong! The [OK], sure , sometimes it might be obtained as of 1 or 2 little things mixed in here and there . But , hey , nobody Mase perfection .

In case that wasn't clear, BTW, that was "And what, exactly, is wrong with using Google Translate? It's never wrong! Ok, sure, sometimes, it gets 1 or 2 things mixed up, but nobody is perfect" Then translated into Japanese and back to English.

lol.

By the way, most of this article is stuff we know:
  • Car was in game since Versus, belongs to Regis, father and son theme.
  • Road trip movie also since Versus.
  • Car will only suffer cosmetic damages and will not break down entirely.
  • The game discourages you to hit other cars but you can do it, not a game like GTA.
  • You can run out of gas, and you can decide to have Cidney pick you up or push the car to the nearest gas station.
  • You can't drive off a cliff.
  • You can't crash into monsters, but you can crash into guardrails and other cars
  • The car can only drive on roads, however, you can drive off road on places like dirt roads which are made to drive over. In order to lessen the feeling of being on "rails" you can steer freely on these roads.
  • That means you can drive on the wrong side of the road, oncoming cars will stop but you can still crash into them.
  • There are no toll booths in the game, they are all public roads which are free to drive across.
  • The car can fly and turn into an airship. This is not an early game feature to speed you to the end, you will get it later on in the second half of the game. There are places only airship can go. Airships are a staple in Final Fantasy, this time it's in the form of a car.
  • You won't run out of gas while flying the car
  • The car doesn't travel on water (lol) but Chocobos can swim across the water.
  • The car cannot go back in time like in "Back to the Future" (yes this was a real question) Tabata says it would take 10 years to add this into the game (jokingly).
  • There's no mini-games surrounding the car, however, there will be things like a chase scene, but this isn't a racing game.
  • Other NPC cars in the game there are not many types but they will have different colors and variations.
  • Japanese and American cars were used in reference for designing cars in XV. The retro Nissan Datsun is an example of one car that was used as a reference in XV.
  • The Regalia is a royal car; it's a super-luxury car, and with a convertible roof.
  • You can't drive other cars in the game.
  • The Regalia can be tuned up for better fuel mileage, higher top speeds, etc.
  • It can also be customized with different part colors, decals, etc. Specialty skins can only be gotten through pre-order or other means.
  • You can listen to music by purchasing different cassette tapes, including ones with music from past Final Fantasy games.
  • There's no radio stations in the game.
  • You can't pick up hitchhikers (lol) there's no room for them in the car.

Very interesting! Thought we'd only get the regalia type F near the end through certain tasks though.

thanks for the translation, so flying car in the second half of the game and car chase scenes.

i hope we can choose whether we want the roof up or not.
Yes, you can.

I actually mistranslated one line, but we already knew it anyways. There are places in the game you can only go with the flying car, I wrote that there are restricted areas. Sorry about that. Also, I added the section where the car will not break down from taking damage, it's only cosmetic. I somehow skipped over it when I first read through the article, oops.

I verified my translations through the article on NovaCrystallis.

Surprised that Regis ranked second. Gladio isn't as popular as before lol. Noticed they are going with Cidney. Perhaps mistake?
