Just some random thought: what do you expect to be Noctis' strongest weapon? His father's sword? The Engine sword? Another sword not yet revealed? It could perfectly be another kind of weapon and not a sword though, like a lance/spear.

I'm hoping we get Excalibur (especially with the whole Knights of the Round Table theme. I can see Regis' sword to be Excalibur, actually), Ultima Weapon... and all that. We've already had our fair share of traditional weapons in the demos, so yeah.

Also, I really want to see the Engine sword in action. When was the last time we saw it?

Maybe he has Ultimate Weapons for all categories. I hope we gain them through interesting sidequests.

Last time we saw the Engine Sword was probably back in VersusXIII days. Not in game, we saw it as part of the Kai figurine of Noctis.

Please this. It would make the most sense. I'd love for something like they did in FFV, where the slightly lazier players can get the ultimate weapons of the type they prefer, but still leaving something for the hardcore players to collect.

Side question: Anyone watch the stream last night/this morning? Someone on another board said something about Tabata confirming secret endings. Can anyone confirm?

I like the idea of ultimate weapons for every class, as it doesn't alienate people from using their preferred weapon class. I know I'm going to use like crazy those classes that are fast and make air combat possible, so I'm interested in daggers and shit like that.

Loved the shield and sword combo (both in design and gameplay) and the shuriken from PD, really changed the demo for the better. Also interested in guns.

PS: didn't watch the stream, and hadn't hear about the secret ending thing. Could be cool and Tabata already did that with Type-0, no?

Don't take that secret ending thing to heart. My source on that is one single gamefaqs poster and there was no context on it at all. For all I know, it was a misunderstanding/mistranslation.

Nice! Since you can read Japanese, what's the move Ignis use around 6:30? Looks like some kind of buff that gave Noctis extra attack and defense.
This is actually Chinese, the ability Ignis uses is called 寒冰附魔 which means Ice Enchantment. It's possible this is an En-Spell like Enblizzard or something, but it's hard to tell. We can see (as you mention) an attack and defense buff, whether or not it aspects your attack and defense with blizzard is something I don't know for certain.

I believe it's going to be his Engine Sword because it's so iconic with his character and we know it's still in the game, but doesn't seem to be the first weapon he gets.

I also think that Regis' weapon is the Excalibur honestly, I was going to mention that myself when I realized you suggested the same thing.

I was going to also suggest the same thing, I'd imagine he'd have an ultimate weapon for each type basically. Last time we saw the Engine Sword was actually in 2014 in one of the presentations that was shown off in the Citadel. It has been later confirmed that the Engine Sword is still in the game, and apparently that's its actual name.

I guess Gladio will be a bit useless for attacking airborne enemies unless he can equip a projectile secondary weapon.
Another reason why I truly believe that switching outright to other party members would have been a useless feature, I'm happy with the compromise we have currently.

Back since Duscae I was asking for a proper parry system like Kingdom Hearts, but once I played Platinum Demo and saw how the shield functioned, I became completely happy with how the shield functions exactly how I wanted a block/parry system to work in the game to begin with. Not only does it function more like a proper action game, but you will also be getting multiple shields throughout the game with different attributes/abilities to them, so equipping different shields for defensive purposes is actually desirable. This got me SUPER HYPED for the possibilities and also reminded me of past FF games with armor slots.

Ever since they changed the entire battle system around after Duscae I've been so excited for the game even more. I went from wanting KH's block/parry system to having something far superior and I couldn't be more happy about it.

As for this secret ending stuff, I'm all for it. We already know XV is getting a New Game Plus mode, so the more stuff the merrier in my opinion.

I think the Engine blade is going to be Noctis' own Phantom blade, but again, I don't know the meaning or process to make your weapon, as a Lucis King, become one. I'm very interested in that. I usually don't like these too-busy weapon designs anymore, but I actually love the Engine sword and it's as iconic (if you've followed the game) as it gets. And having the MC have an extravagant main sword is a staple of the series at this point.

Also, I just googled to find out the latest show of the Phantom Blade (because I sure as hell didn't remember) and actually stumbled upon you answering (and providing a video and pictures) just that on Reddit :cactuar:

And yeah, I think the shield mechanic and the fact that you have to equip it, as if it were an armour slot, is very cool. Switching them didn't feel awkward to me, and they since said they would add the Duscae control layout in the final game, so I'm guessing it's going to be even better.

Seriously, after a rollercoaster in terms of hype regarding this game (the highs being the 2011 trailer, the 2013 re-reveal and the Uncovered event), I couldn't be more ready for this. The more I read and watch (especially regarding its tech) continues to antonish me, as this game is going to be ambitious as hell. I don't know if it's going to be a great game (I'm relatively confident, though), but you can't deny how much hard work it's being put into it. Let's see if it delivers!

PS: Here's something I saw in gaf: an analysis (in Chinese...) of the Titan demo with a lot of gifs showcasing some of what I believe are new (or at least less known) moves (like that dodge): http://www.vgtime.com/article/12353040.jhtml

I made an account in order to share this information with you guys:

I was checking this video that shows of some of the technology of the game. The below video contains certain debug screens of which one shows more insight into the total amount of Summons as well as the name of one of the Summons.

The moment in the video starts around the 3:32 minute mark, here:

The rest of my post includes heavy speculation as well as highly likely spoilers for the total amount of Summons (Astrals) as well as a name of one of the Astrals:

As far as I know the inclusion of Shiva was heavily expected and theorized but not really confirmed (correct me if I'm wrong). But we can clearly read that she's present on that screen.

More interestingly we can see that Noct has 7 Summons in his repertoire during that segment. This could mean two things:
  1. There are 7 Summons in total, of which Ramuh, Titan, Shiva and Leviathan are confirmed. That makes 4 3 out of 7. If you count Carbuncle and Leviathan as well, that makes 5 out of 7. That leaves 2 to 4 Summons to still be found.
  2. There are at least 7 Summons and during this demonstration Noct simply doesn't have all the spells, weapons, abilities, and Summons in his repertoire. There might be a few more Summons out there which are either not finished, or simply not included in that "7" that Noct has during this demo.
Either way, I'm already very pleased with knowing there's at least 7. That might not be as much as certain older FF's, but Tabata had already confirmed that there wouldn't be a lot. I was afraid that would mean about 4 or 5, so 7 is already a decent amount. Especially considering they're big deals to acquire and to Summon. They're not simply random spells and abilities you can use nilly willy.

Nice catch!
Not really surprising, though, yeah. Pretty sure it's her in this scene:

But maybe you could spoiler tag your post, just in case.
