To be fair, Nomura had a co-director on KHIII even though that wasn't having serious development issues, and I think it was pointed out in articles related to the development of KHIII that giving Nomura a co-director was standard protocol because of Nomura's inability to serve as sole director of multiple games simultaneously.
For all we know, FFVIIr might have had a co-director for quite some time but Squenix kept it on the down-low because said co-director wasn't someone fans would be familiar with. Given Hamaguchi's resume, it seems like he could be focused on the technical aspects of development rather than serving as a second overall director. (Note that Yasue mentioned in an interview that he couldn't really answer anything about the story because his directorial duties were focused on the gameplay aspects of KHIII.)

Keep in mind the game has had its development moved from CyberConnect2 to a team at Square Enix proper about two years ago [Source] with development allegedly getting the reboot treatment (similar to what Nintendo did when they moved Metroid Prime 4 from Bandai Namco's Singapore studio to Retro Studios). Even Nomura himself has admitted that the game was announced too early last year due to "his preference [..] that Square Enix reveal its games before rumors or leaks upstage what they’re doing" [Source], also stating later the same year that "Square Enix’s PR is currently focused on KHIII, but after that, it will focus on Final Fantasy VII Remake" [Source], which I think explains the radio silence.
Now, can we expect FF VII Remake information this year? I'd say yes - but to which degree, remains unknown.

Cyberconnect 2 was only used for video quality and some aspects of gameplay. Square would never have their crown jewel be completely outsourced to another company.

NeithOf is a known liar who puts his own spin on shit just to act like Nomura has never done anything wrong and that his games are always flawless. Cyberconnect2 were involved in its actual game development, not just video quality and some aspects gameplay stuff, it was a joint development between the two.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with him but NeithOF did a good job breaking down the timeline and exposing that guy who stated FFVII Remake had to be restarted completely because of Cyberconnect2. That guy (Dan something) has no idea how production pipelines work and was causing chaos just because he needed attention.
Just because you blindly believe a Nomura fanboy because what they say lines up with the sweet little lies you want to hear doesn't make it true, and that Dan person was proven to be a dev in Japan working on Japanese games which NeithOF conveniently missed and lied about him not even being a dev in Japan, not only that but NeithOf has consistently lied and spun things surrounding Nomura's games to act like Nomura is never at fault, nothing ever goes wrong on his games caused by Nomura, and any problems he constantly blames on other people, he isn't trustworthy and he didnt give a good timeline breakdown at all.
We know for a fact that things changed in 2017 when they fired CC2 devs and moved internally, Nomura even had a trailer ready to show in 2017 that was before the shift, and now that trailer was never to be seen, and Hamaguchi became development lead during the shift, just because he was on 7R from the start in 2014 was not them saying he was development lead from the start, he became development lead in 2017 after moving the completely internally to SE BD1, then he left Mobius which he was still on at the time entirely and then he became co-director on 7R.
Nomura saying Hamaguchi for 7R is like Yasue to KH3 was not him saying their roles on the game at the time were the same, as Yasue was co-director and Hamaguchi was development lead at the time he said that, he was saying since he isn't part of any business division that they share a similar role of being his point of contact for BD1 and BD3 teams respectively, and even them Yasue was co-director on KH3 from the beginning while Hamaguchi only became co-director after the game had been in development for 3-4 years.

Might not be anything VIIR related, but SE announced a concert specifically for FFVII called "FINAL FANTASY VII - A Symphonic Reunion", to be held on June 9th which is right during E3 time.
Given the timing of the concert it's possible we could see a new VIIR trailer there, similar to how they showed new KH3 trailers at the KH World Tour concerts they did around E3 time in the past.

I think SE would be wasting a huge opportunity if they don't show FF7 Remake at E3 this year, especially when out of their currently announced games they only have Babylon's Fall and the still unknown Avengers Project. SE's E3 show is taking place same time that Sony usually does theirs, and while I don't expect it to be anything grand as history has shown regarding SE press conferences at E3, it certainly couldn't be worse than last years, right?

This time courtesy of the recent Playstation State of Play announcement happening on May 10th, while again could be nothing there has been some hints that it may contain FF7 Remake stuff, or at the very least something Square Enix related.

While he says there will be a 3rd party game that was announced long ago getting re-revealed there, he also posted a picture of Shinji Hashimoto from the infamous 2014 PSX where he brought just FF7 port for PS4, however Hashimoto has also retweeted the announcement which I don't recall him doing it for the previous one.

Should also note that the Japanese broadcast is 15 minutes long while the English one is said to be 10 minutes. It could be nothing, but ZhugeEX is also doing nothing to dissuade people from thinking it is FF7 Remake when normally he would tell people not to expect certain things.
