....Over reacting much?......
Depends.

Will Square Enix show some respect to a classic title and do a proper sprite remake (by proper, I mean FFI, FFII and FFIV on PSP and not a shitty effort like FFV on iOS) and release it on platforms some people want to play them on (3DS, PSVita, e-Shop, PSN)?

Cause if they will actually do this, then FFVI coming too mobile isn’t a big deal and some people won’t be so upset about it. But some people are upset about it because Square Enix shows no signs of actually doing this since they’re so obsessed with making a quick buck on mobile platforms now. Some people want a sprite remake (3D remake as well), but they want it done right and on a platform they want to play it on. Unfortunately, Square Enix doesn't seem to care all too much about 3DS and PSVita anymore.

That's really what it's all about.

After doing a proper sprite remake with FFI, FFII and FFIV on PSP and then moving over to mobile platforms and doing shitty remake with FFV on iOS. I don’t blame people for overreacting.

Maybe they've learnt their lesson from everyone hating the party sprites in FFV's mobile version. Let's wait for some screenshots or video or something; maybe the "sharpened, a la the recent mobile release of V" comment was just talking about the monster sprites. People didn't really have a problem with those, did they?
I am somewhat worried about the mentioned changes to the battle system. It would help if we knew exactly what these adjustments are. A lower encounter rate? Doubled XP and/or AP gain? All of the above? None of the above?

It's...a bit hard to take this seriously with the whole 'Support Group' thing. But I guess that's the intent, right?

I sort of think they find remaking things for iOS sort of cute or endearing. Most western fans would strongly disagree. I wonder if anyone's actually confronted anyone at Square about the negative reception the 'core' fanbase has towards their mobile ventures.

I don't particularly mind it, but the prices are a bit too much.

That part was a joke :) .

I'm pretty down for this. I finally got through V for the first time on iOS and I believe the speeding up battle animations shaved literally 5 hours off my playtime, which was much welcomed. The games are super accessible in this format.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

They did it wrong.

Second screen is too bright. They invaded Narshe at night. And that huge blast of white snow is blinding.

Next verse, same as the last. I don't like this style of sprite work. Square can do better than this. See the FFIV PSP game.

It's a cheap cash in like the majority of Square Enix's mobile efforts. We know they can do better but they're not going to spend the time and money in doing so.

The sad reality is that SE's mobile games are both pricey and lackluster––even FF ports––compared to products by other companies.

Fun fact: I'd always thought "mobage" was a portmanteau of "mobile" and "garbage" until someone told me a company by that name exists.

Not a fan, but it doesn't look nearly as bad as I'd expected. Wish they'd just leave this stuff alone. Not the rereleases - they're welcome - but just not be afraid of pixel art in all its glory. It's beautiful in its own way, and plenty of all-new pixel art games are successful on iOS!

And they can get away with it too as mobile has been profitable for them. So profitable that SE has decided to decrease their 3DS and PSVita output in favor of more mobile games!

wow...wow...wow...wow...wow...wow...WOW

Words can not express how disappointed I am in a fanbase that spews hatred towards a mobile port/re-release for a game that this same fanbase feels gets overshadowed by it's successor.

It's almost like you people DON'T want to see the next generation of gamers experience a great RPG (one that some say is one of the best) and if that's the case you people are just plain selfish

I don't care if the sprites look more modern or that the game is slightly easier...If this means I can play Final Fantasy VI whenever I ****ing feel like it, I'll have it ON MY PHONE ready to play at ANY given moment of boredom.

Who are you actually talking to?

No one is condemning Square for daring to re-release a game. No one has insinuated that FFVI should be left untouched and denied for newer gamers.

What people are either resigned or upset about is the amount of effort that looks like it has gone into this. I know that Square is - and can be - exceptional when it comes to pixel art, because even the maligned All The Bravest spared no expenses with the FFVII-XIII sprites. Other people perhaps wish to see a 3D remake of it like FFIII and FFIV, but instead that effort has been used on The After Years, something that no one has asked for, while FFV and FFVI are given what appears to be a C-tier treatment.

I tried my best at improving Terra's sprite ;P

As you can see, it's done in similar style like those Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection sprites.

Aside of that silliness, I agree that I utterly hated how Final Fantasy V was graphically 'updated' by SE, and they're doing exactly the same with Final Fantasy VI.

Would it kill SquareEnix to allow the game to be played with the original upscaled graphics? I'd wager they could warrant a few more not clueless buyers with that.
