Final Fantasy Versus XV?!?

I don't know man Square Enix has a habbit of releasing sequels to successful games, especially ones that don't deserve it(looking at you FFXIII)
I'll give it's likelihood a 40-45 percent chance of happening.It is subject to being lowered if things don't pan out overtime, unless Square oh dear, they make Versus XIII like the original Versus XIII, Chocobros, Trilogy and all into Final Fantasy XVI, or worse a Final Fantasy Versus XVI. I would laugh and cry so hard if this happened. Granted if Square wanted to they could, and I mean could release both XVI, and Versus XV as Luminous Projects, because I don't they will ditch Luminous Engine or stop with just FFXVI and make XVI Unreal Engine 4, I don't think Investors will like that.

It's just a bad idea. Too bad even for SE. There's no real market for it. Just a small, loud core, and no matter what they do, it'd be a losing effort.

Considering the same rumor also named Nomura at the helm and I'm sorry, but I'm more likely to believe those ghost hunter shows my sister watches.

I'll go as far as to give it a 1% chance some day they name a game that, but it'll be nothing like what you're thnking it is supposed to be. It is definitely not 40-45%, thoguh.

I wouldn't say there is absolutely no market for it, considering how well FFXV is received, and granted it would have to be seen as a sequel and looking at the rumor apparently it could tie back to FFXV's ending. So you could potentially kill two birds with one stone, those that just got into FFXV love the game outside of any Versus XIII whatevers including FFXV 2013, rope the fans of the existing FFXV, as well as those minority loud mouth(ha ha heartless name yeah I played and beaten all KH games those bitches are annoying fuck them) Versus XIII people.

The Versus XIII people will see it as the second coming of the real Versus(oh dear lord, I think I killed some brain cells writing that)
People that got into FFXV and would like to see a sequel would probably see it as a sequel, so they would probably pick it up.
People who are fans of the existing FFXV might see it the same way, but some might just want to play FFXVI, granted they could do what they did with FFIX, FFX, and FFXI, and announce them all at once so those people who want an FFXVI will be fine with it.

It also could help if the FF7 Remake general reception is great, which could be an added boon to Square if they do decide to do this, and if FFXV sells past FF8, maybe even FFX who knows then investors might be into it,and if Nomura wants to do it but THAT'S A BIG IF.

Also they couldn't make a direct sequel to FFXV that takes place during Noctis' sleep, or after Noctis' death, because part of FFXV's selling point was Noctis his character look, his powers, so they would have to pull a sequel reboot(ala X-MEN Days of Future Past except without the time travel, more like reality warping)

Also looking at the point, it doesn't seem like they are trying to appease Versus XIII fans, if you look at it, Etro is up in the air, as well as Stella or Luna along with Regis' design whether it will come out of Versus XIII or XV. It seems like they are going after just regular consumers, and FFXV fans and the Versus stuff is simply a by-product of that because it was only during the Versus days sequels were possible. I guess with a remake that disguises itself as a sequel. That may spawn 3 games if it is Nomura's original vision.

I'm going to take a wait and see approach to this, it's fine if you disagree, but I feel like if nothing happens concerning this rumor, after Part 2 of the FF7 Remake, then yeah it was bullshit. However I wouldn't be surprised if whispers start occuring after Part 1 and Kingdom Hearts 3 get released if their reception is better or equal to FFXV which I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case, then I suspect the Versus XIII fandom to get louder, and louder, and Versus XV rumors to start propping up here and there, until then, I'm not too sure how to feel about this.

As long as you see my side as not irrational that's fine on a side note though, I hope Square doesn't announce anything for FFXVI until it's actually good to ship, like Fallout 4, because I understand why some people are pissed, FFXV got people hooked, but changed too much for some people. It had concepts that hooked people that were changed, and removed in the final product hell I'm kinda one of those people in that I would have loved to have fought in the citadel against Iron Giants, and having Switchable characters, but I'm not too hurt by those changes.

If a Versus XV happens the rumor specifically stated after Part 1 or Part 2 of the 7 Remake releasing, granted they could pull the same thing with Versus XV being multi-part, but they need to have a release date a solid release date for Versus XV if it does happen, but I don't suspect anything to come out of this rumor until FFXV DLC is finished and the PC Version shipped, Kingdom Hearts 3, and the FF7 Remake.

I mean I want more Chocobros in the form of new FFXV games, hell tbh you could put the Chocobros in the world of Final Fantasy XIII, take out the original XIII cast, replace it entirely with XIII's cast, and it would probably sell. I'd pick it up. You could even keep the bosses and it wouldn't matter, just make the gameplay like KIngdom Hearts and you got it made.

Sales numbers in Japan are exceeding what was expected already, especially when you consider mobile gaming is far more popular there than home console gaming. A big factor is that higher ups internally were extremely worried the game was going to perform poorly, but things are looking very good for moving forward with Versus XV.

As of now, the design from XV is the main design. This could change, but the more likely scenario is that outfit being available as a bonus. The "Eyes that see the light of expiring souls" will be the main focus of the game, yes. Etro is still up in the air, that depends entirely on how development on Type-1 goes. Either way, there will be a goddess that functions similarly. It could possibly be tied back into XV's ending, but that also depends on how separate Mr. Nomura wants this project to be. You'd be surprised how late in development some story changes like that are made.

This is understood probably better than anyone by the team that worked on XV, trust me.
If anything, it shows extreme faith in the IP given not only how much XV is being pushed now but how much it's being accepted by Joe Consumer. More "sequels" (in the eyes of investors) with minimal time in development and an engine / assets that are already made can only be a good thing. How else do you think XIII-2 and Lightning Returns were greenlit?
