FF15 delayed? Rumor

I don't think it can be true, Square can't afford a delay. Square has so much banking on this one game, that they can't risk losing their current momentum. They have hyped this game up so much, to the extent of giving it it's own press conference. If they delay, the hype will die, and their sales will plummet. Sure hard core fans will stick around, but people who were interested will lose interest, two months is a huge delay, maybe not compared to ten years, but at this point it will probably sink Square.

Well FFXII was delayed twice (both instances with an already set release date), didn´t prevent it from having over 6M units sold.

I honestly don't think a delay will cause this much damage, not when literally every AAA game in this gen has been delayed once or twice. But FFXV is a game that people love to hate, so we might get a hyperbolic reaction to the delay like we did with the DLC announcement, who knows really.

Her twitter states "FFXV needs o be delayed, sorry kids".

Now I've been a lurker on neogaf for some time and any time I see this person post in any FFXV thread it's amost always a post with negativity or a comment about the game in a condescending manner. I don't know how trustworthy a source this person is but if anyone knows better than me about this person please fill me in

You realize you're talking about me right? One of the owners of this forum and Nova Crystallis, which is a parent site for this very forum... lol. And yes I believe the game does need to be delayed. They haven't been confident in showing console footage since E3 and the demo I played there was still really rough. If the rumor is true, they likely didn't make the decision likely.

Right, I see now. I kinda had this feeling you were closely involved with Square Enix so took your twitter comment as a belief you have after you had probably seen or played the game in its current state(since I assumed you were e kind of insider).
Then again, have you? You said when you played the demo at e3. Do you mean like the opening chapter or just the Titan demo?

I played the Titan demo and a close friend I trust played the opening chapters. You might know him from Easy Allies but he shared some of his thoughts on the rough state of the game on their podcast as well as our own.

And to clarify, being critical about something doesn't always mean negative. XV has a lot to prove and I'm willing to let it do that.

Well I imagine they wanted to show off the large scale boss fights. Titan is still in the game, it's just the circumstances surrounding the battle will be different.

Firstly, congratulations on the wedding!
Secondly, when I try to convince someone to get into a game, especially when that someone is not that particularly interested in games generally, I always have the person watch me play and I try to explain a bit of what the game is and some of the elements that might interest the person while doing so. For example, I did this with my sister and I got her into games like Kingdom Hearts (which she has beaten the first and second thus far), Gravity Rush and more!

That's not the impression I get from most of your posts(nor is it for many other users I talk with. I mean the level headed one. The ones who do ridicule and critical when the game does display short coming. Not the blind fans)but I understand that tone of voice can't really be expressed on forums so I could be reading comment with a different tone of voice. And sometimes of course there are comment that are meant to be sarcastic and would go over my head possibly. In that case it would be my mistake on those occasions.

Also, I think I have seen that podcast you mentioned but I could be mixing it up with gamespots who also did like a video thing outlining their experience with first chapter. They pretty much said it was rough around the edges but clarified it was alpha build. Don't know if this is the same build your friend played.

I don't really talk that much in XV threads anyway these days other than to clarify things or leave brief impressions. None of what I say is ever malicious but as you said it's probably hard to understand that through simple text.

Delays aren't bad if they allow the developer to make their game better. Some of the reaction I've seen about this rumor is pretty embarrassing and those people acting off the rails will look especially silly should it come true.

People don't remember delays, they remember broken/bad games.

I agree that delay's aren't a bad thing, but lots of people will view them as bad. The problem is that will cost Square a number of sales (hard to even estimate if it will be a lot or a few). I don't no how easily people will be shaken by an extra 2 months of waiting after 10 years. I know I was extremely disappointed when I first read the rumor, but if that is what the game needs, then it is for the better. I trust Square's judgement, I just worry about them losing the hype they have had, especially considering presumably those 2 months won't see any content drop. The anime will have concluded middle of next month, and the movie will be out end of next week in theaters, and the mobile game comes out literally any day. Maybe if they release a new demo like just the Titan fight that would help, but I don't know how they can continue the momentum.

Spare me the pettiness, I am entitled to feel like this after 10 years of waiting. Also, I know it isn't confirmed, but there is still a big chance for it to be true, and honestly I am beginning to think it is true.

I'm not trying to be mean... but quite a lot of people here have waited for this game as long as you have. Also, try to understand that delays are quite common, and probably should have been expected in a game like this.

The only real reason I'd be annoyed if it was delayed is because they made such a big spectacle about the release date(they had a freaking invisible air-horn to reveal it.

For me personally it's like this: they were committed to release a functioning playable FG game from start to finish as polished as they could get it but no matter what they are committed to that sept 30th release date.

Now if its the case that the game has problems currently such as characters animations having minor glitches during gameplay rarely, AI not always being competent, some minor clipping issues here and their, minor visual blemishes or glitches sometimes, minor framerate drops that are almost go unnoticed etc I can look past it....just provide a patch.

BUT if it's the case that the game has segments that are literally chugging with low framerates, visual glitches that glitch out the game locking you out of progression , broken side quests, game crashing and major gameplay issues then by all means fix that up with a delay. But all of those should not be happening going by what the developers have recently said about the state of the game.
