If you look at the concept of both FFXV and Game of thrones. In Game of Thrones, all 7 kingdoms wanted the Iron Throne. In Final Fantasy XV, all 5 kingdoms wanted the final crystal, FFXV is more serious, darker than any previous final fantasies, I would be really surprised if they didn't kill one of the major characters.

I agree,I think maybe Nomura watches Western movies and TV series,FFXV so far has this dark, medieval style with kings, knights and royal families fighting for power and revenge

The first indication for his Games of Thrones infuence must be the KH 1.5 cover and the keyblade throne :D

Wow i never could have guessed xD All the more exciting, I don't want the deaths just for the sake of being "Dramatic" I do think it would be for the best considering the dark theme and how it would impact the story. Just my opinion tho.

Wow. I didn't notice that. That throne of KBs is eerily similar to the GOTs one. I haven't watched much GOT episodes, but if Nomura or his team are influenced by it, it's fine by me. That is as long as they still have their own ideas. An homage is great, but flat out copying something plot for plot is lazy.

On the subject of death, I don't mind a few characters dying, but I don't want my favorites (once I have some in the game) to die. Maybe it's childish, but I've always been that way. I like my RPGs and anime and any other show/movie to have the heroes struggle, suffer, rise back up and win, and then leave a decent life. To me, if you save the world then die you never get to have your own peace. It's like the villains still win.

That said, with how long it's been in production, he obviously wasn't inspired by it! At least not initially. Doubt the book was localized for Japan before the show, if it even has been now...!
Good point. The story was probably locked into place nearly 8 years ago.

Now when can we get a Final Fantasy version of The Count of Monte Cristo? :)

I thought it was based off of Shakespeare's Hamlet?
There are many similarities between the game & the story of Hamlet.
In the earliest trailers back when it was known as versus the trailers had quotes from Shakespear as well.

Ouch. I could've swore the reason the quote was up there (that was said by Shakespeare) was because it was some themes taken from that quote. Maybe it's not based off Hamlet but that quote is there for a reason.

I'm not sure I agree that anything with a power struggle in it and a dark tone equals Game of Thrones. The similarities seem superficial to me.
