I wonder just how much of the city we'll get to explore? There being 77 chest icons on the map has me a little hyped, however the towers in that one picture being lumped so closely together is keeping me a little cautious.
Hmm... I'm still thinking RE size or maybe a bit bigger, but I'm definitely open to being surprised

Yea after rewatching that scene recently you can see that Regis is noticeably on edge but trying to keep a king's composure. It certainly seemed like there was a history between them, and now we know there certainly was lol.

They could use the credits scenes to fill in the blanks and flesh out the throne room scene like they've done with all the other episodes. Prompto got the scene in the bunk bed where him and Noct got to have an actual heart to heart about their differing origins and nationalities which was something that was missing from the main game's reveal about Prompto's true origins, Gladio got his campfire scene where he gets to tell the bros his story and he gets a moment to convey that he's confident in his ability to protect Noct now which is why leaving was important to him as opposed to him leaving and returning without much context, and Iggy gets not only the hotel room scene where he tries to dissuade Noctis from continuing his journey but we also get the expansion of the final campfire scene which shows us just how important Noctis is to him.
I'm confident Episode Ardyn will also have a similar scene or scenes during and/or after the credits which will expand upon existing moments to give us more context. So it's entirely possible we might get a recreation to the throne room scene or an expansion to it where Regis maybe reflects on Ardyn's return and what it means or something along those lines.

The closer we get to Episode Ardyn the more sure I am that they'll write off the events within by having Ardyn reverse them via a stitch in time. You can maybe write off people not knowing about the attack as most of them being killed or evacuated before The Mystic appears, but Bahamut dropping his swords on the citadel would be able to be seen from the entirety of the city.

I hope it gets adapted to the main narrative. So if we get Episode Ignis in chapter 9, they cut the scene where Noctis dies and we get the postcredit scene in chapter 14 after the campsite.
I can only see Episode Ardyn happening in Chapter 13, with Bahamuth putting Noctis into context. It's also the moment after we get Ardyn's role revealed, so it wouldn't interfere with the narrative.
I hope this dlc makes an effort to develope Regis, the Astrals and the conflict that Ardyn has with Noctis.
By having Bahamuth lore dumping the shit out of Noct, we could get Noctis understanding the role his father, Luna, Aera and Ignis had following the commands of Bahamuth, who delivered visions to all of them.

After I beat the Episode Ardyn DLC for the first time, I'll be replaying FFXV, with all four DLC Episodes in order with the FFXIV collab, but without Kingsglaive and Brotherhood, as those things are not needed in my eyes due to their problems, sometime in early April. Here's how thing'll shape up, currently.:
Episode: Ardyn Prologue Anime
Episode: Ardyn (DLC): The anime for this and this DLC Episode would serve as a 'prologue' of sorts for the game for me.
Chapters 1-8; I may try to get Ultima Blade by Chapter 3, and get the Scepter of The Pious by Chapter 6 while driving Iris to Cape Caem.
Episode: Gladiolus: I would play this DLC in Chapter 8 at a campfire in Leide or Duscae.
Royal Arm Hunting: I will collect the rest of the Royal Arms to be found in Lucis before heading off to Altissia.
FFXIV Collab/Adventurer From Another World: Will be doing this right after collecting al of the remaining Royal Arms in Lucis and before Altissia.
Chapter 9 and Episode Ignis: I would play Episode: Ignis right after Chapter 9 on Chapter 10, except the credits and final cutscene after the credits.

The Famitsu comment that Ardyn can't get a happy ending made me wonder if something like that is planned.
Like... even if Ardyn was kicked out of Insomnia in the end, he'd at least be able to take satisfaction in beating up Somnus and wrecking the city. But if Bahamut either reverses time or forces Ardyn to reverse time to save himself, that could explain why Ardyn would see his attack as a complete failure and resign himself to play by the rules and fight the Chosen King.

Okay but like, the way the people talk about the gods in FFXV is not the way that people who have seen a giant dragon man drop swords the size of skyscrapers from the heavens would talk lol And we definitely see him pulling the same move he did on Ifrit at the end of the most recent trailer.

The fact that all this crazy shit is going down is exactly why I think Ardyn or the Astrals are gonna pull a mind wipe or some other time related shenanigans will occur. The concept of alternate timelines and just the general idea of tampering with time has been around since the Omen trailer, we see Ardyn fuck with time in chapter 10 followed by Noct and Ardyn occasionally being able to stop time in their final fight when Noctis blocks one of Ardyn's hits, and lastly Iggy's Verse 2 happens to exist even if its canonicity is highly debatable. Either way you look at it time tampering is an option that the devs have made abundantly clear that they're definitely willing to take at this point and it's an option that's clearly been there since day one.
Honestly I know people hated the idea but the more I think about it, would the Dawn DLC really have been that out of place? The more I wrestle with the idea of an alternate timeline being created the more it seems to fit in with what's already been established within the canon itself. I'm thinking if this is indeed the route that they're taking then Ardyn's assault potentially being erased or undone might've been the groundwork for the possibility of the timeline being changed to be introduced had they decided not to scrap the other episodes.
I'm really curious to see how much of the Dawn related content survived/got repurposed in Episode Ardyn following the transition from being the springboard for an entire alternate reality story to just being the prequel to the main story similar to how FFXV still has some influences in it that quite obviously come from its days as Versus but have now been repurposed for XV.
